Dr. Melanie Hecker is, by-far, the best dermatologist I have ever visited. While other doctor's had me on a merry-go-round (come back in two weeks), Dr. Hecker had me cleared up in one visit. She appears genuinely concerned about her patients and her staff is efficient and attentive. It will be a sad day for my skin if/when Dr. Hecker stops practicing. read more

I would not recommend them to anyone. I went in there for acne and to have her take a look at a sun spot I was concerned about. I found Dr. Hecker to be rude and pushy for me to buy either THEIR acne medicine, or the most expensive laser treatment. It was extremely obvious she was wanting to make money off of me even after I told her I'm a student and on a budget. She convinced me the cheapest route was to buy her acne kit, so I did for $65, and it didn't even work. I was very disappointed and won't be going back. read more

I'm glad to see I am not the only one with these feelings regarding their Front Office Staff. After making an appointment in which I had to reschedule due to my difficult work schedule I finally had to leave work early on a Monday to make my appointment ( I live in Pompano but work in Miami) I get to the office and they immediately take my $30 copay only to tell me that they could not see me due to a referral that was needed from my primary physician. I told them I was unaware of this being that I was not a first time patient and has been to this office several times. It was only then that they informed me that apparently I had to see my primary Doctor 6 MONTHS AGO in order to be seen by the Doctor today. I asked why I was not informed of this earlier especially being that I had spoken to the office several times in order to schedule and reschedule the appt. The girl behind the desk had a very fowl attitude and did not even apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused me!!! They made the error and got nasty with me!! This Staff is completely inept and unprofessional and I will not refer anyone to this office. Oh, and they were getting ready to give me a hard time about giving me back the copay that I already paid for stating they don't process refunds, they had cash in the drawer so they refunded me that way but what would have happened if they had no cash? Seems they would have kept my money for my next visit. Too bad I'm never going back there. I will find a Doctor with a staff that knows what they are doing. Steer clear!!! read more

HOMOPHOBIC???? I don't know!!! We went to see Dr. David Hecker in their Boynton Beach office for a cancer check on my husband's chest. They allowed us both in the examination room THE FIRST TIME. Dr. Hecker did a biopsy. He is very brief and discusses very little. He does not tell you how to care for the skin that was just biopsied. By the way, the Boynton Office is dirty and the examination chair/table had duct tape on it. The floor was dirty. When we came back for a follow up we saw there were two Haitian men sitting there in the waiting room. When was of them was called in the other one followed him in. The nurse at the door said, "oh no... only one person can come in. Just the patient because the examination rooms were too small." The second man said that he was there to interpret for the first man. So I guess the nurse twitched her nose like Samantha and made the room bigger. They both were allowed in. So when my husband was called I was following behind him. The same nurse said no, you can't come in. We are a gay couple and WE ARE MARRIED!. I told her that and she said it doesn't matter. I also said that we were in the first time together and she said that doesn't matter either. My husband was concerned and upset over the possible skin cancer diagnosis and I wanted to be there to comfort him but was denied entry. When my husband entered the examination room, he was told that the real reason I was denied entry was because some people come in with the patient and want a FREE look at a mole or something. I don't do that sort of thing. They should deal with situations like that as they occur instead of keeping married people apart. We will never go back!!!!!! read more

Unprofessional, unpleasant and unorganized. Dr. Melanie Hecker who also serves as the office manager is very rude! When I made a complaint about my experience in her office and getting my prescriptions she basically told me to go screw myself. Do yourself a favor and go to someone more reputable. These guys advertise for a reason. All they are going to do is suggest you buy a bunch of their products before even evaluating your skin. Waste of time! read more

Melanie S. Hecker was extremely rude to my elderly mother. As previously stated in the other posts this office is very unorganized. Their billing procedures are not transparent, and when you have questions, they do not have answers. Dr. Hecker is particularly not interested in patients with State, and Federal insurance coverage due to the rate of reimbursement. The office does keep a credit card on file, and you are not notified of the items billed to it ahead of time. read more

I went in for a follow up on a mole removal, but while i was there i inquired at to having some skin tags removed Her response was "skin tags are not covered by insurance" so i asked her "how much if i pay for it and her response was "are you serious!" Dr. Hecker misdiagnosed my basal cell carcinoma. Said it was an old age spot. Now I have to have Mohs surgery to remove it and if I had been correctly diagnosed, it would have been much easier to remove it. I am very angry at this situation. I have reported this to my regular doctor and he will never recommend her again. read more

My husband went in to have a pin size sqeemish cell cancer removed on his arm. Dr. Hecker cut his arm open by 2 inches, 7 stitches inside and 7 outside. She had an inexperienced helper stitch him up. She was way too aggressive. This was done in the office. The wound was very unsightly, and was infected within hours. My husbands operation on his hand by another doctor was cancelled. That doctor was shocked that this was done in her office and sent him home under such a botched procedure. read more

I recently had my first total body exam and it was thorough. Dr. Hecker did a biopsy and found a skin cancer and that freaked me out. She was very patient and explained to me my treatment options and I think she got me out of the sun for life! The staff is super nice and friendly. I have been to the office twice and was seen within ten minutes of my appointment time both times. I had a deductible I needed to pay and I feel the office's prices were fair. I thought I was going to have to pay a lot more than I did. I like this office and I'll definately be back. read more

They are the worst!!!! Office staff is extremely rude. After waiting for over an hour, I had to leave to pick up my kids Now they keep billing me a no show fee. The doctor is very rude and pushy. She only wants to sell you her expensive products and will not write you a rx for something that you know works for you. They are quick to take your co-pay before you are ever seen, and if you are not seen because they are overbooked and you have to go back to work they refuse to return your co-pay. would never recommend them to anyone. They don't seem to really care about the issues you are having seems they just want your money. I came in for acne and acne scarring and went for about a year every month. I had multiple chemical peels that I was told would help my skin after I saw they weren't working I was told to get a stronger one and that didn't work either. At this point I should have never came back but was convinced a laser treatment would deffinately work. It was extremely exspensive! well I went ahead and went for it and have no improvement at all! so disappointed and even after I had to pay all the money for the laser I had to purchase all the after skin care products! well now I have to look for another dermatologist and start all over and spend more money. read more

I recently saw another Dermatologist who told me that the lesion I had concerns about was 'nothing'. I was still concerned so I saw Dr. Hecker because they were on my insurance. I'm glad I went because my lesion needed treatment that the other office ignored. I had a total exam of my skin which I never had before and it was very complete. Singularly the most incompetent and disrespectful staff ever put into one office, after the initial point of sale you will literally be passed off or passed on without any regard for your own health or safety. The lack of an accurate diagnosis is only furthered by the inability for them to actually help. It's unfortunate and I feel disrespectful even writing this because of how upset I am along with how truly horrible their performance was but I do believe that in this day and age it actually should be written how people act. read more

I would like to reiterate what some of the other reviewers have said. Very long waiting time, rude office manager (female) - not Justin who left...in fact there is always a turnover in staff. I used her for quite a few years for my body exam - she always found something to biopsy!! Unfortunately on one visit it was discovered I had a squamous cell cancer. I suggested a plastic surgeon to close but she said it was not necessary. I ended up with a large ugly scar on my chest. After several attempts to improve it she talked me into laser treatment. It made no difference. The same day she did laser treatment on my face for brown spots and burned my cheek. I had a third degree burn with blistering but when I tried to see her to follow up she would not see me. She wrote me a letter to refund an over payment and said she had cancelled my annual check up. I now have a nasty scar on my chest and a scar on my cheek. I think you can make your own decision whether you would risk this doctor's treatment. read more

I usually don't write reviews on doctors but my experience with this office was unacceptable and beyond frustrating that I feel I need to write this. I took my eight year old son to see the Dr. David Hecker due to skin problems. Few seconds in the consultation, I felt I was in an "infomercial" being pushed products by the doctor's assistant. I had to ask direct and insistent questions about my son's skin problems, diagnoses, and how to treat it to the doctor before I can get any answers. Even though the Dr. has a kind demeanor, he allows his assistant to do the commercial of his products prior to medical advise . It is really a shame!! One is seeking medical advise to find one self in a business practice! To top my experience, as we checked out, I again was offered and declined all their products again and had to ask for the medical prescription to my son's skin condition. The front office lady - very rude, lacks social skill and ability to speak to patients (or I should say customers!?!) told me she sent the prescription to the pharmacy. Granted she did not obtain my pharmacy information ;-( More advocating and asserting my needs!! It has become very challenging to navigate this health care system filled with now business people!
