Had all my top teeth pulled , bone graphs and 5 posts implanted. A week and half later the gave me my temp teeth. I am so impressed with my smile that has returned after another place broke it off. Had huge bone infection that spread to many (6 plus) over time and all that infection was draining into my mouth and going into my blood. Dr. Haney did a replacement crown using conscience sedation for me over a year ago and it went so well I thought it was just too good to be true. Then a few months ago an old large filing fell out (from a dentist a long time ago) and Dr. Haney placed a second crown. Same level of superior quality, attention to detail, service and outcome! His staff (shout out to Karen!) are compassionate, skilled and attentive to the patients concerns and needs. After visiting a sleep dr, I was fitted for an oral appliance for sleep apnea by Hedgecock and his staff. They had several devices to choose from and found the right fit for my mouth. It's been 18 months since I've been wearing the device nightly and I've lost 40 lb. I wasn't expecting to lose this much weight and this wasn't the main reason why I was treating my sleep apnea, but I'm certainly glad I went with Hedgecock for the oral appliance. I had a good experience in the Hedgecock Dental office. Everyone said their name. I met 6 people. Everyone was rushing around and trying to take care of the patients quickly and efficiently. I had been nervous going to the dentist I had stopped during the pandemic. The people in the room with me wore masks. I was still very nervous about taking my mask off. They ran x-rays and scans and measured my gums. They discussed with me the issues they found. Unfortunately, I have some work that needs to be done and the amount of work, cannot be done all at once. So I have 4 more visits coming up to make some repairs. I liked they sent me home with copies of the work needed to be done so I could check into paying for everything. Every body was very friendly. THIS DENTAL OFFICE IS A SCAM!!!! They lure you in with a discounted Groupon, and then try to upsell you on expensive services and procedures that you do not need. If you decline their recommendation, they refuse to provide the services you already paid for, and refuse to refund you for the services that they refuse to provide. My Experience: Upon arrival for my appointment, my Groupon was immediately redeemed. I paid for two cleanings. At the appointment, I was informed that I needed a deep cleaning (root scaling) before getting the two regular cleanings that I paid for with my Groupon. I was informed that I needed to pay $700-$800 for this deep cleaning, and if I did not pay for that service, then they would not honor my Groupon. I said I did not think that I needed a $700-$800 cleaning, and I would get a second opinion. I left with no cleaning done on that day. I got two other opinions, and both confirmed that I did NOT need the recommended $700-$800 deep cleaning. I called back and said I wanted the regular cleanings that I had already paid for, and they had already redeemed. They scheduled an appointment, and I went back for a second time. When I arrived for the second time, I was told that I at least needed a $230 cleaning!?!? I said no, I just want the cleanings that I paid for; and which they agreed to do when I scheduled my appointment. They declined again. I wasted another entire afternoon, driving out to their office, for a second time, and again, received no cleaning. Hedgecock Dental refused to give me the two cleanings that I paid for. And they refused to refund my Groupon. I was charged $150 for literally nothing. Plus, I had numerous hours of my time wasted driving out to their office, twice, for dental cleanings that they scheduled over the phone, and then refused to provide when I arrived for my appointment. I wasted another several hours trying to get refunded for the services that I paid for and they refused to provide. THIS DENTAL OFFICE IS A SCAM!!!! I have never ever in my entire life paid a company for a service, and then been told that the service I paid for will not be provided, and they will not refund my money. Deliberately deceptive about the cost of services. The staff at Hedgecock Dental is not clear about the cost of the services they provide. (Look at a similar review by Jennifer C. on 6/24/2022). I went into Hedgecock Dental as a new patient on May 31, 2022. After I saw Dr. Ahmed, he stated that his staff would go over the cost of treatment for that day. I was presented with a treatment plan that stated the Total fees would be $300. Two months later I received a bill for an additional $256.20. THEY SUBMITTED ADDITIONAL SERVICES TO MY INSURANCE. From broken molar to new implant to permanent patient. In may of 2020 I was brand new to Austin, and didn't have a dentist yet. On a camping trip, I bit into a bratwurst and hit a bone chip. It broke my molar. Next day, I packed up early, came home and began searching for a dentist who would take a new patient during full lock down. Luckily, Dr Haney's office at Hedgecock dental was willing. It is a long process to get an implant I learned (over 10 months total), but through every single step, every check up, every major and minor appointment, I was treated better that any other professional service I have ever received in my 52 years. I am a very curious patient and I ask a lot of questions. Not out of dis-trust, but simply out of a desire to learn. Dr Haney was ever willing to pause and answer in detail every single thing that was happening, from procedures, to equipment, to options. I could not ask for a better chair side manner, or a more informative professional for a dentist. But my satisfaction does not end with my dentist.... his staff is absolutely the cream of the crop. Stephanie who handles the office management (appointments, reminders, and billing), was always willing to answer questions, and make adjustments to suit my availability over the 10 months and 7 or 8 appointments required to complete my implant. The three dental assistants Heather, Cristal and Ivette ( I hope I spelled your names correctly, ladies) and the hygienist, Rocky, were all patient, kind, welcoming, willing to laugh at my stupid jokes, and even willing to change the overhead muzak to a station that I liked (if I was the only patient there). If you are searching for a new dentist, I promise that no matter how long or hard you look, you will not do better than the staff and the care here at Hedgecock Dental. I have been so impressed by both, that even though I now live over 10 hours away in southern Missouri, when it comes time for dental visits, I have been and I am still willing to make an overnight of it, get a hotel in Austin, and make the trip. Possible over treatment and way higher price. I went here couple days ago to do a general cleansing. After I got there, they did x-rays on me, and give me a treatment plan. I was shocked to know that I have 6 teeth need to be filled and they also recommended me to remove my lower wisdom teeth(I don't have any problem with my wisdom teeth, but they said my wisdom teeth could damage my other teeth) . I had gum disease before and it has already been treated, they talked me into doing the maintenance cleansing instead of regular cleansing, and they said regular cleansing wouldn't do any good to me. So I did the maintenance cleaning. After I got my treatment plan, I wanted to get a second opinion, so I went to a different dentist, and I'm shocked again---the other dentist says there is only two teeth may need to be filled later, but no need to do it right now. She recommends me to wait and watch. She says she would check again on my next cleaning appointment and if the situation gets worse, she will do the filling on these two teeth. Also, about the wisdom teeth, the other dentist says as long as they are not bothering me, I can just leave them there. Plus, I am 26 years old now, the chance of my wisdom teeth growing out is actually pretty small. She also says I do have a little bone decay because of the gum disease, but it is not very bad, therefore, a general cleaning would be enough as long as I do good maintenance on my teeth. I checked with a third dentist about my wisdom teeth, he also says leave them there unless they start to bother me. I have two treatment plans from hedgecock and another dentist, and when I compare the plans, I find hedgecock charges $448 while the other one charges $143 on the same tooth. read more

Know before you go! Staff does not know what is going on. They will tell you one thing while trying to get you to agree to costly unnecessary procedures by Dr. Michelle. I tried to file a complaint with the Texas Dental Board but was advised that she is not a member so my only recourse was writing an honest review on FB, Yelp and Google. Hedgecock Dental had my review removed from Facebook. I asked that my files be sent to another Dentist and when they were sent they were incomplete and included another patients information. I want to first start off with the fact that I have always been terrified about going to the dentist. Believe me when I say that I have been to a lot dentist in my day, and generally not under very good circumstances. The last visit was very much needed, Thank you genetics and poor flossing! Either way I felt taken care of by Dr Hedgecock and their staff! Really warm, very professional, and quick. The atmosphere is soothing, and the energy there is peaceful. What I really like about this place is the certified wildlife habitat. Instead of looking at cheesy pictures of printed trees on wallpaper, you actually get the real thing here! Nothing more calming then seeing wildlife bouncing around a beautiful landscape. My first visit I was able to watch my 14 month son chasing butterflies and squirrels. They are up to date with tools, and methods. Like I said earlier I have been to a lot of dentist, and they have gone a long way from the past decade in modern dentistry. They make a game plan and let you know what your best options are financially which is very honest. They will recommend specialist if they feel that is necessary. I found Hedecock Dental through Yelp. I was not disappointed. I took my 12 year old son there today and everyone was so sincerely nice. I mostly dealt with Lauri at the front desk but met Jessica today. Candace was the one who did my son's cleaning and we saw Michelle Hedgecock. He was apprehensive after having a bad experience at his last dentist in another state. He said they were very nice and it didn't hurt at all. Candace was great in explaining the importance of good dental practices, especially with the looming possibility of braces. The office was very warm and welcoming. Dr Brandon and his staff always treat me great, from the moment I arrive it is a great experience, the front staff welcomes me, and an assistant always brings me in back within minutes of arrival. The relaxed environment is perfect, views of the animal habitat in the backyard are right in front of your chair. Hygenist Candice does her job very well and is very entertaining, Dr Brandon explained my treatment plan in a way I could understand, there was no treatment that seemed unnecessary, when he performed the work, I felt no pain as his anesthetic technique was the best I have experienced in all my years of going to over 10 different dentists. I've been in the 6 month smile treatment for about 5 months now and I absolutely love Dr. Hedgecock and her staff! The girls are always so nice especially Ashley who is usually my dental assistant and Melissa who is the front desk receptionist. They always make you feel welcome and are always so cheerful and happy to see you! I'm always in and out in about 30 minutes. Let me preface this review with three things. 1. I am really disappointed that I did not even get as far as seeing the dentist, I had heard wonderful things. 2. I am a medical assistant, and also pull and verify insurance on a daily basis. 3. Despite this entire debacle, the employees that assisted me were very nice. I know from experience that dealing with patients with financial/insurance problems is never a fun situation. When I called to schedule my initial appointment/cleaning, I asked if they could call me after pulling my insurance to give me a cost estimate so I know what to expect for the visit. I was told they would be happy to, and they also gave me a heads up that at the initial visit they like to do a fluoride treatment which is usually not covered by insurance and runs $20, as well as take photos (also usually not covered) at $27, so to expect at least $47. Now I already knew from reading my insurance benefits that the fluoride would be covered, so my expectation was set for $27. I also already knew from reading my insurance benefits that an initial visit, as well as a general cleaning, are "covered at 100%" for the first two visits a year (quoted directly from the insurance benefit summary). Fast forward to the day prior to my visit. I still had not heard from anyone in regards to the insurance. I tried calling but only received the voicemail. When I showed up for my appointment (which I drove an HOUR for) I of course inquired about the insurance. I was told they would review it and check to see if they had ever seen anyone with the same insurance as this before so they would know what is payable on the billed amounts. After review, I was given an estimate somewhere around $150, which still included the photos and fluoride. I let them know that according to my plan, the fluoride should be covered. After double checking, she then said yes it looks like it was, dropping the price to around $100something, which was still a very significant jump from the $27 I was prepared for. Not to mention if that was missed, what else was? I was told that this specific plan only gave them "percentages of what is covered" and that it "pays pretty low" (based on the SINGLE prior patient they found with the same plan? Billed what year? Was it from the company this insurance is through PRIOR to their merger with a massive Fortune 500 company? All necessary questions that should have been asked before assuming this one prior experience with this plan would be an accurate representation of my current one). In my experience with insurance, if a plan covers something that is not covered by most (i.e. the fluoride treatment), this is usually a pretty good indication that the plan has good coverage, making it even harder for me to believe that my actual owed out of pocket would be $100. Working with insurance on a daily basis in medical practices, I am very familiar with the fact that some insurance plans pay more or less than others. However, I have never worked at a practice that adjusts the pricing they charge patients out of pocket based on this. The fact that they did this honestly made me really uncomfortable. A majority of the time, once an insurance is billed, they will also adjust off a portion of the cost, meaning legally the patient is no longer responsible for that portion. It seems like here they make you pay that entire portion out of pocket, regardless of the adjustment. After calling my insurance company to verify after cancelling the appointment and leaving, I was told this initial visit and general cleaning should have been covered at 100%. The staff is amazing. I called this morning to on plain about tooth pain, and even though they were completely booked, the ladies were able to squeeze me in. Dr. Brandon looked at my tooth, and we decided that I needed an extraction. I asked how long it would take - he said less than 15 minutes - and I asked if he could do it now, and even though he had other patients, he said yes. Hedgecock Dental used to be an exemplary organization, however, over the past year (most of 2016 and early 2017), they've become the used-car sales people of Austin Dentistry. Everything is high pressure sales with high prices to match. As another reviewer commented, over treatment is the new normal with "Dr. Michelle". I feel like I'm being stalked, these days because every few weeks, I get a call pretending to care about my well-being followed by a request to schedule a cleaning. I don't really like dentist offices, but I loved my visit to Hedgecock Dental. From the moment you walk in, the office staff is helpful and patient in helping you fill out all the necessary paper work. The teeth cleaning was relaxed and over before I really even noticed. As you sit in their dental chairs (?) you look out over this nature preserve and watch birds and other animals dance about - it's like getting a teeth cleaning at DisneyLand. Dr. Brandon was the dentist I saw. He was thorough in explaining what was needed to be done to keep my mouth in working order. I had cavities that needed to be addressed. I had the option of taking nitrous to relax...and I took it. After 5, 10, 20 minutes it was over and I was fine. Billing process was as easy as the teeth cleaning.
