I rarely write a review anywhere even when I have a negative experience, but after leaving my annual dental appointment(at a different office) I felt compelled to come speak about my experience from before with grand oaks. After coming to this office for a few years I was up sold on so many things I didn't need, first being a mouth guard I never use (and surprise my teeth are fine though my dentist acted like my teeth were going to fall out without it) and countless fillings. The last year I had with them mid 2024 I believe I was quoted 1,600 dollars worth of work including a crown. I was devastated, but trusted them and scheduled with them. Something in my gut felt off about having another year of so much dental work when i religiously cleaned my teeth so I went for a second opinion. Turns out the second dentist didn't see any work I needed to get done. I was shocked to go from drilling countless spots in my mouth to no work needed. Now it's 01/06/2026 and I just went and got x rays again and told good job no extra work besides cleaning needed today at another dentist. I'm so glad I didn't go to grand oaks for a crown and multiple fillings I didn't need and trusted my gut. It's been years and my teeth are fine contrary to what this office said(they made it sound like my teeth were horrible and needed this work asap) Id never return to such a greedy and predatory dental office that's obviously only looking to make extra money and give you dental work you don't need. One thing I hate about moving cities is finding new doctors. I am a creature of comfort and like to stick with the doctors I have and have built relationships with already. Unfortunately, it was time for me to find a new dentist here in Texas as part of my moving here. I had been to another dentist which I wasn't really a fan of, and found Dr. Sharma and her team after looking on my health insurance site. I really enjoyed my first visit with the them. The team was friendly, from the moment I walked in the door, the assistant, and Dr Sharma herself were chatty, warm and welcoming and just made me feel comfortable. Dr. Sharma explained everything she was suggesting needed to be done as part of my treatment plan, answered my questions surrounding it patiently and even outlined the cost before doing any procedures. All which were very much appreciated. She didn't seem pushy as some other dentists and doctors do she was genuinely trying to make me feel comfortable with my treatment and making sure I understood the reasons behind it. I've been going to this practice for probably about 8 years now. Every single person that has worked there has been so sweet, non judgmental, and just happy! Stay away, friends. I tried Grand Oaks after my dentist stopped taking insurance. Dr. Sharma told me I needed thousands of dollars of work...and it's only been 9 months since my last cleaning. She also said I needed special toothpaste, a mouth guard, a sleep study, a new crown, and an expensive deep cleaning. On top of this, she was quite rude when discussing all the cavities she said I had. I immediately requested my x-rays be sent to my previous dentist for a second opinion. Surprise surprise- not a single cavity. No teeth grinding evident. No deep clean needed. No issues indicating sleep disturbances. The cost of paying out of pocket with my previous dentist (Smile Creations who are WONDERFUL) is muuuuuuuuch cheaper than going to someone dishonest who does unnecessary work. 0/10 do not recommend. read more

If I could give this dental office more than five stars I totally would. I had the best dental visit I've ever experienced at this office. So I hadn't been in a while (a long while) and I was super anxious about the health of my teeth. I figured it had to look pretty bad in my mouth and I was so anxious that I was willing to just not know how bad it was. Dr. Sharma communicated everything to me in a way that was positive, encouraging, and easy to comprehend. She set me up with a plan, first we were going to tackle the emergency procedures, then we will figure out a plan long-term, AND she was transparent about the costs, knowing I'm on a limited budget. I have been going to Grand Oaks Dentistry since I moved to Austin 5 years ago. Dr Sharma (the lead dentist) has always been compassionate, welcoming, and professional. Dr Zeinab is also terrific. All the assistants and staff are always wonderful, reassuring, communicative, eager to listen to and answer questions. It's a busy practice, but it's always easy to get an appointment, and they run on-time. They refused to do basic cleaning without doing an evaluation - which is ridiculous. Just a reason to get extra visits and bill for them. Come on guys. They tried to up sale me on EVERYTHING. I have never had a problem with my teeth, but upon going in they told me i had 7 "cavaties" I needed filled ASAP, a night guard, deep cleaning, and a special toothpaste. After 3 months of getting my cavity filled it is still in so much pain and I can barely chew with that tooth. I had never had ANY pain before getting 1000s of dollars of procedures done. read more

I wish I had read the other reviews before coming here. Grand Oaks Dentistry's desire to make as much money off their customers is flagrantly disgusting. I have had all the upsale items pushed on me. I have had my requests blatantly ignored. They have not even remotely honored any of the price estimates they have given me. Yes, I understand that they are estimates but one should be able to expect that an estimate will at least be in the neighborhood of the final price. In some cases, like other reviews have said, they have charged me for things without providing an invoice. Dr Sharma does not actual work herself. In over a year I have only seen her twice and for less than two minutes each time. They either farm out their work to another office or have an amateur perform it. They questioned me when I wanted a visible cavity fixed likely because it was an affordable procedure. My last dentist allowed me to prioritize doing work on teeth that were in pain while Grand Oaks always attempts to talk me out of it. Aware of their billing mistakes in the past I tried to hand-hold the office staff by repeatedly telling them what I wanted done but they ignored me and did a different procedure which cost hundreds more. I should have not been so trusting perhaps but having worked in the medical industry I expect a certain level of ethics which is not evident in this office. Do not go to this dentist. read more

I put off writing this review, but after getting a 2ndopinion today, I advise all to run (not walk) away from Dr. Sharma's Grand Oaks Dentistry practice. 1) I moved to Austin & picked Dr. Sharma's practice as her location was close to where I lived & her reviews "seemed" to be good 2) While she seemed to be a good dentist at first (& I have zero qualms with the staff there), she was always trying to upsell me ... ... EVERY time I came in she wanted to sell me the mouth wash she sold in her office (I think it was $18 for a 12-16oz bottle, so it was not cheap) ... EVERY time I came in she wanted to sell me a mouth guard even though I had repeatedly told her that I already had one ... EVERY time I came in she wanted to do x-rays - every dentist that I had gone to previously only did x-rays once per year since that's all insurance pays for, so I question why she felt that x-rays were needed during each cleaning visit (teeth don't generally change that much in year) 3) Dr. Sharma talked me into doing my first crown which I was apprehensive about. I decided to go ahead & get the crown, but the actual cost (my out of pocket) for the crown was much higher than her office originally quoted. 4) As all of the above kept piling up & I began questioning if the crown she did was even really needed, I decided to find another dentist 5) Lastly & most importantly (the reason I'm writing this review today) - I've been to 2 different dentists since Dr. Sharma and both stated that the crown Dr. Sharma put in was NOT sealed properly. I have been told that this crown must be replaced as soon as possible as there is no way to know what damage/build up is occurring underneath the crown. This means another major expense due to shoddy work that was done less than 4 years ago. PS ... be sure to read the glowing 5 star reviews ... you'll see several occur right after a bad review & they are all clumped together by dates - in other words, they are made up reviews to get Dr. Sharma's rating to appear higher than the real patients writing reviews. read more

In my experiences, the female driven staff has been extremely friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. I have had regular cleanings, deep cleanings, one filling, and purchased a mouthguard from Grand Oaks. They were clear about the cost of each, presented my options, and explained the reasoning behind any of these suggestions (which in my case were valid). The only up charge I've been presented with is fluoride, which I certainly don't mind. As with any service or healthcare, diligence in daily care and consistency in the suggested occasional professional assistance and monitoring are the key to preventing many poor experiences. I hadn't seen a dentist in 4 years and decided it was time to face the music. I found Grand Oaks and Dr Sharma via a Groupon. Her office is small but comfortable and the staff is very nice and laid back. Everyone was very concerned with my comfort. Much to my dismay I wound up with three small cavities, two of which needed to be filled and one that was small enough to be watched and checked on again in 6 months. Dr Sharma managed to get me in for the fillings that same afternoon and was very sweet through the whole process. Everything was clearly explain to me (including the pricing). I appreciate the extra measures Dr Sharma took to make sure I was pain-free and as comfortable as possible. Prior to Dr Sharma I had seen Dr Bell DDS for most of my life. I did step out to call and see how much the cleaning + fillings would cost at his office - twice the cost I was quoted with Dr Sharma. I didn't find any disparity in their professionalism or level of expertise. All in all very happy! I've been going here for quite a few years. I'm fed up with the plus selling and bed side manor. I had a cavity filled a not to long ago and it was extremely painful. I told the dentist that it was painful so she administered another shot which didn't help. I informed her it still hurt at which point she responded that I'll have to suck it up cause there wasn't anymore she could do. I came back after that though I wanted to give them a solid chance. After my last visit I walked away with three procedures that needed to be done along with the pressure of buying the damn night guard after I've said no many times. I'm being charged for my cancellation being only 24 hours out, I had forgotten that my appointment was approaching. I'll take the blame for that. There are too many good dentists out there to have to deal with this place. I wouldn't recommend find someone who listens and understands. Not all of us make a bunch of money and have the ability to pay several thousands of dollars for dental work. read more

I've had a few visits to Grand Oaks over the past few months after discovering multiple cavities during my initial cleaning/exam. I had not been to the dentist in years, and finally was getting updated on everything going on in my mouth (much to my despair). Dr. Sharma very carefully explained everything to me and was very gracious and kind when I went in to a bit of a panic after realizing that my insurance did not cover much of what needed to be done. Her bedside manner is so excellent. On my last visit, she discovered a very deep cavity and said a root canal was possible. Knowing the cost, I of course panicked. She ended up spending a very, very long time carefully trying to repair my molar with a filling. I didn't understand the significance of her effort until I was doing some research when I got home. I think that many dentists would not work as hard to save the tooth and simply charge for a root canal or extraction. As a new patient to Dr. Sarma at Grand Oaks Dentistry, I went in for my first appointment yesterday. Dr. Sarma was courteous and friendly when she did my initial exam and scheduled me today for a filling. When I returned for my appointment, the nurse numbed me and got me prepped for the filling. Next thing I know, I've got my mouth wide open and a total stranger comes in and starts drilling on my teeth. At first, I thought it was another nurse and I'm thinking, "Isn't the doctor supposed to do that?" Unable to talk, I continued to wonder when Dr. Sharma would come in a take over. Dr. Sharma never came in and I found out after the fact, that Dr. Goel was the one that did the treatment. As I was checking out, I asked why Dr. Sharma didn't do my treatment and was informed that she only does new patient exams and the other doctors do the treatments. Huh? I left the office totally confused and while Dr. Goel did a descent job on the filling, I won't be returning. When I see a dentist, I like to know who I'm seeing, check their reviews and want to have at least had a conversation with them before they start drilling in my mouth. This should have been explained to me beforehand and was quite unsettling. read more
