Great place to eat. Service was fast and friendly. The catfish platter was great. Fried crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. My wife had the Texas nachos. This plate was huge. It was enough that 2 people could eat on it. They used a white cheese on it which was so creamy and delicious. If you like jalapeño, this is the plate for you. It seemed as if there was a jalapeño for every chip. This was one of the best tasting nachos I've had. Then for desert, they had a red velvet cookie with chocolate chunks on it and a brownie that was about 2" tall. Took them home for later and put them in the microwave to warm them up. Service is always great with Liz! We the Philly with fries is my go to. And my son LOVES the chicken tenders and fries with ranch.

My son and I were riding our motorcycles and got off track. Getting hangry, I picked the nearest burger place. It was great. We had onion rings for starters. Big, crispy and hot. The ice tea was good - not just brown water but tasty tea. We both had burgers and they were as good as they were filling. I barely finished mine and still felt full an hour later. Fries are crispy but not dry. I had mayonnaise with mine, and it was the tasty kind, not the bland standard fare. We live near downtown Houston but might come back just for this. read more

What a great little bar and grill. Chicken fried steak dinner was just about perfect. Some of the sandwiches and burgers coming out of the kitchen looked awesome. Theres a fun dining area and a small bar with regional taps. This has got to be my favorite place now in this area. I wish it was in my backyard but I travel for work from out of state. I was very pleasantly surprised with this place. It's located off the old main highway and looks pretty new. The main seating area is surrounded by garage doors, that were partially open over the beautiful fall lunch hour we were there. The menu is quite extensive, with a slew of burgers, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. I ended up ordered the nachos with grilled chicken (could have also chosen pork tenderloin) and my coworker got the blackened fish tacos with fries instead of chips. Service was nice and attentive and the food came out relatively quickly. I must say that we were both impressed and pleased with our meals. My nachos had a delicious chipotle sauce mixed in with the white queso and the portion was huge. The chicken was also grilled to perfection. My coworker's fries were lightly seasoned and she said that the large piece of fish on each taco was seasoned and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place and would come back again if ever passing through during the lunch hour. read more

Food is way overpriced for small portions and no flavor. The only thing that tasted decent were the onion rings!

The service was absolutely putrid. The place was full and they had 2 very inexperienced servers. Both were very nice but were completely overwhelmed. No manager anywhere to be found. This is actually sad to see. And now to the 59 minute later food came ...cold. Not good. Most of this came right out of packed from one of the suppliers....and cold. The Gumbo was some burnt roux with some frozen chicken pieces and 2 slices of sausage thrown in...slightly warm. The tomato basil, whilst very hot, also tasted pre-made last Tuesday. By the way, still no manager and girls said they couldn't had no idea where he/she was. Chicken fried steak was ok but gristle ridden and small for the price. The mashed potatoes ( cold) were from a can and the green beans (also cold) tastes of frozen to microwave style. I hate reviews like this but damn.... read more

I will give it four stars next try because I know now how to ask for the shrimp and grits. Less Cajun seasoning or no Cajun seasoning. The grits are very very good all by themselves. The flavors are overpowered by the Cajun seasoning. The Jalepeno undertones are great and would be okay by me if they turned that aspect up a notch. I will return for another try at this tasty dish. Hat's off to the apple pie. For me the crust is the "make or break " aspect for a pie and this is a VERY good crust. Apples were not too sweet and firm. A 4-star dessert to be savored. Found this gem on Yelp looking for a good place to eat. The reviews don't lie. This place is EXCELLENT! Ordered the blackened catfish plate. Grilled to perfection. Not over spiced like a lot of places do. Definitely fresh too. Sides I chose tonight are basic, green beans & corn on the cob. Again excellence, the corn appears to have been cooked on the grill as a finishing touch. Delicious! Great selection of local brews on tap! For a small town place, most of the time they only offer 5 or less. Well over 15 choices on tap! Service was excellent too. Extremely attentive and friendly staff! We just relocated to Waller from Houston. After a long day of moving we came here and boy am I glad we did. Nice clean little place, very friendly waitress. My husband got a hamburger and I the catfish and boy let me tell you what! The catfish was so good and buttery, everything was fresh and hot. We were so impressed we even got dessert. We should have known better when there were no cars in the parking lot. Upon walking in, it was very hot, again - we should have left but not being from the area and hungry, we tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. The chips and queso were mediocre at best. We had 6 adults and two children. Three of the adults ordered Monte Cristo sandwiches. Upon SERVING two of the sandwiches, we were told they didn't have enough supplies for the 3rd sandwich. (info would've been helpful much earlier!) So, one of the adult entrees arrived after everyone was finished eating. The syrup in the sprite was out, it took 30 min to get a replacement - even after I said I'd be happy to take lemonade or water instead. On top of it all, it was overpriced. I work in Waller and eat here at least once a week. I've probably had 3/4 of the menu at this point, but I half the time I order the grilled chicken with mixed veggies, (usually squash/zucchini with purple onions) and fried okra (unlisted, ask your waitress if they have it or anything off menu!). The catfish is one of the best pieces of fried catfish I've had (4-5 times now). I always ask for tartar sauce and then use maybe 1/4 of it; they season and crisp it to perfection. The specials are always great, and they come up with a new one weekly. The chicken philly has been my personal favorite so far, but you can't go wrong with anything HHG puts on the menu or chalkboard. BURGERS!!! Any and every one of them will instantly become a top 10 burger of your life. Service is always friendly, but they get slammed sometimes since there aren't many options in Waller for lunch and you might need an hour plus. Overall, it's 5 stars because of the amazing quality of food and great service. It's not a cheap lunch option ($15-20ish with tip per person), but it's the best around! Aspects I haven't tried yet: they have amazing beers on tap! Karbach, 512, Austin Eastciders, etc. The desserts look amazing as well. read more

The classic burger isn't $7.95, rather it is $9.95. There are too many better burger options in Texas that sell regular burgers for far less than $9.95. It is unfortunate because I live five minutes from the restaurant. Needless to say, I will not return. read more
