Today, I went to Heena on a weekend for the first time, and the experience was different enough that I thought it warranted an update to my previous review. I've gone a few times before, but it was always on a weekday afternoon, when there were only one or two other customers, and I could just walk in and get immediate service. This time, I went on a Saturday around lunchtime. I'd read previous reviews that mentioned the long, long wait, so I was prepared. Expecting an hour wait, I had lunch at Taj Mahal Imports in the same complex beforehand. I got a masala tea to go, which I highly recommend, because it's really good and too hot to drink immediately. I also brought some reading material, a copy of The Economist and some textbooks for studying. Walking into Heena, the difference was obvious. Heena Salon on a Saturday afternoon looks like Barack Obama's America. Women of all races gather here for the common cause of fantastic eyebrows. The place was packed, and I got the last chair in the waiting room. I took a number, which was 39, and they were only calling number 11 at the time. It was hot and humid inside, and it smelled strongly of B.O. I'm not sure if their A/C was broken, or if they just chose not to use it, but it appeared that the whole salon was being cooled by ceiling fans, which weren't doing a great job. It was an uncomfortable 80-85 degrees in there, but not unbearable. I read my magazine and drank my masala tea for 15-20 minutes until it was my turn. Even though there are a lot of customers, the wait isn't too bad, since there are also a lot of threaders working. If you can come to Heena on a weekday, I highly recommend that you do so. If you can only come on a weekend though, it's still not bad, and definitely worth the wait. Bring a magazine and pick up some masala tea beforehand, and it'll keep you from getting cranky. I've come here four or five times now and gotten different people, and they've done a great job every time. P.S. Shazia does a great job. It's hit or miss depends on who you get. I haven't had a consistent person doing my brow yet, it's been whoever available when I'm there. The first time was actually not a good experience for me since my brows were obvious they weren't even. I came back because I needed to get my brows clean up quick and I know Heena Salon can achieve that. My most recent visit was the best. I asked the lady to make it even and she told me it's not possible because of how my hair grows. I was actually surprised by the result, she did a great job and I really liked it. I asked for her name so I can ask for her again, but my amnesia brain forgot her name already. read more

I had worst experience with waxing. Estela was so rude. She was waxing so fast. When I pointed out there is hair left she pulled my hand toward her as if I made her mad. Clearly she was rude and disrespectful. I will never come here for any services!! I would for sure not go here for waxing. Rude people work here.. as if i came to do waxing for free. I paid with my money and the treatment I got is not fair and worth it ever. There are other places I can go. I would not go here for anything, especially waxing. read more

This used to be my go to place but I did have a bad experience where one of the ladies messed up my eye brow by pulling too many on the start of my arch I now have had to wait two weeks to see it barely start growing! I recently went back and got someone else she tried to help but did say it's going to take some time to grow and to keep on filling in my eyebrows! If you care about your eyebrows at all, I would suggest taking the extra time to drive to a different Heena salon either in Plano or carrolton. I have been getting eyebrows threaded for the past 10 years at Heena and have gone to the Richardson one only a handful of times because EVERY TIME I go they mess them up. They have such a quick turnover ratio that all they're worried about is getting the next customer in, and not perfecting your eyebrows. I've never had mine done as quickly as I have here and can tell they truly pay no attention to detail in them. Last time I went and got my eyebrows tinted, towards the end, then young girl says, "uh... have you ever done this before?" And I said yes and she seemed nervous about it and when I saw them afterwards I was almost in tears at how horrible they were. I went home and immediately started googling how to take off eyebrow tint. This past time I went last week the lady did my eyebrows in record time and the shape and thickness I have been building up for a year now was completely ruined. My arch was gone, it was sloppily done, not in a straight line. All around awful. I am distraught at how little she cared and how quickly she messed them up with no care. This is typically my go to spot to get my eyebrows threaded because it's the cheapest at $4 (with Cash) or $5 (with Credit Card). In terms of convenience, I always go here but be sure to go at the right times because it can get packed to the point where you have to take a number. Now granted they staff well with at least 5-8 people (maybe even more) depending on the day and times to keep the lines going. Why I rate 3 stars is due to the fact that it can be a hit or miss. I have had times where the person who did my eyebrows did great and others who just threaded my eyebrows with their eyes closed. I am typically not picky with the person who does my eyebrows because I only require a clean up every other week so it's not hard to just pick at the new hairs growing, but recently I had the experience of having my eyebrows so messed up I wanted to cry. However, I will still continue to go because of the price and convenience but I will definitely avoid the lady who did my eyebrows dirty. read more

I have been coming here for years for eyebrow threading. Some girls are good and some just okay. Recently I wanted to start doing facials for extractions. I had a good outcome with the first two. However it is not like a normal place to get a facial...it is loud because the rooms don't have ceilings and the lady used her phone during the facial. I didn't mind it because my facial was awesome and my skin was radiant! I did the blueberry facial first and the second time I did the gold facial. I went last week and did a facial with a different lady and I have broken out in little red bumps all over my face. I am super upset because I got a gold facial like before and did not have this issue. I think it is because all their utensils and bowls and towels don't get cleaned all the time. When the girl put me in the room the towels and blankets were like someone else had already been there and were wet. And I have no doubt that they don't wash their hands every time they meet with a new client because their hands always smell like food and I never hear or see them wash hands...since I go around lunch time. I should have walked out but the cheap price is what got me. Now my skin has been wrecked the last week. I have a dermatology appt scheduled for Monday to make sure this will go away. And I will NEVER be going back...even for my eyebrows. The price is not worth the filth. read more

First visit. When you walk in it looks like you're going to be waiting forever, but the wait was less than 10 minutes. There are a ton of techs, but you pull a number when you walk in. So there's a system. I'm not sure what the process is for requesting a tech yet. I showed my tech a picture of what I wanted and she got close to it. She did a good job and this experience wasn't as painful as some of the ones I've visited in houston. I'll be checking it out again, though on a less busier day than Saturday. read more

I have been looking for a good place for threading since I moved back to Dallas from Baltimore over a year ago. Though I tried several other places, none were as good as my previous lady, and they were all so far away. This place is far also, considering I live in the uptown area... but closer than others I have tried. But.... I am happy to drive all the way to Richardson for the stellar job they did for me. I had my eyebrows done... eyebrows are shaped perfectly and she did it so fast compared to anywhere else I've been that the pain was miniscule. I've heard great raves about this salon, especially $4 for a full eyebrow threading. With this price, of course this salon is crazy busy, so please don't be shocked when you see a wall of lined chairs, with about 20 customers waiting. We waited max, 10 min. Here's the key to knowing when you're next in line. The line begins at the first seat, which is next to the front door and goes clockwise. Each person takes about 5 minutes, but there are 4 threading specialists alternating for the next customer. Line goes quickly. So don't be alarmed if you see a massive line. Credit card purchases not accepted @ $4 or below $4. However, $8 and up, it's ok. Please remember to tip appropriately, in cash, as the credit card receipts do not have tipping available. I was a regular customer here until several bad experiences added up and I couldn't continue to come back. There's nearly always a wait, especially if you want to wait for a specific girl to do your brows. Don't forget to take a number when you first walk in! Yes, it's cheap, but when you're dealing with how your face looks, I'd rather pay more. One thing I really disliked, is they always try to upsell you. Upsellling in a threading place sounds like, oh, don't you want to thread your mustache? Or, you need a full face threading, look at all this hair. Kind of insulting and rude in my opinion. I agreed to a full face threading on my last visit. My eyes were watering (it's pretty painful!) and the girl was laughing and making fun of me! Then she took scissors to my brows and left a big bald spot right in the middle. I'm still mad at myself that I paid for such poor service, but I just wanted to get out of there. Try Styles of India instead, they have many DFW locations, are similarly affordable but much nicer every single time I've been, and they've never tried to get more business by calling me hairy. read more

I'll never go anywhere else, seriously. For a measly 7 bucks, I get a perfectly threaded brow and lip, and it all takes about 5 minutes tops. I'm a makeup artist and a bit of a perfect brow fanatic. I suggest Heena to all my clients to get their brows perfectly shaped prior to getting their makeup done for whatever special occasion they have planned. :D Heena is a pretty no nonsense salon.. or threading factory, more like it. :P You walk in and there are usually several people in the chairs getting threaded and several others in the waiting room. I usually walk in and get seated with a technician immediately. I've been to several different ladies, and they all do a fantastic job. They even trim any long unruly brow hairs after they're done shaping with the thread.. an amazingly important step to truly perfect brows that most places neglect! Not Heena though.. I never step out of there with anything less than perfectly sculpted brows and a totally smooth face. I have extremely sensitive skin and tend to break out horribly from waxing and end up looking like an angry tomato after all is said and done, so threading has been a godsend for me! Its so quick and the pain is minimal. There is little to no redness afterwards.. any irritation calms down within an hour or so and is easily covered. Its so much more precise and gentle to my skin than waxing.. I dont have to hide out the entire day after i get threaded due to a swollen, red face like I did with waxing.. a little powder and you cant even tell, which is a godsend because frankly, who likes a bright red lip and chin announcing to the entire planet that you just got your peach fuzz removed? Heena is quick, CHEAP, painless, and precise. I really can't ask for more. No, its not fancy, and no they wont bring you a chai latte to sip with mood music humming in the background while a technician rips hot wax off your face.. but personally, I'll take quick, no nonsense, pain free and precise hair removal over all that extra crap any day. read more

I go there at least once a month for threading. It is 6 bucks for an upper lip and eyebrow. It's exactly what it needs to be. I don't want to pay $20 and have all the seats match and a cheap glass of chardonnay when I walk in the door. Here is the thing... TIP!!! I give the girl $10 and tell her to keep it. I came often for facial waxing and threading. The last visit was my last. After I was seated, the lady left me to attend to someone else for 10 minutes. Then she rushed through my job. It was hurting but I thought it was the getting pulled out. I was not happy when I walked out and horrified when I looked at the mirror in my car. I had small cuts all over my face. It looked like I had this bad rash with dots of blood everywhere. My femme stache and my eyebrows was spotty as hell. My love looked at me and asked me what happened to your face? Worse it, the manyyyy dots of blood scarred over and I had to deal with that until the scabs faded away...two weeks later. Never again!!!!!!!! read more

Cheap is gooood. Threading is niiiiiice. Heena salon is cheap and threads - nice and good! I went in on a Sunday and there was indeed a crowd of people. I took a number, picked up a copy of Spin magazine, and waited for my number to get called. It took about 10-15 minutes for me to get called and about 5 minutes to get my eyebrows done and I got some Brooke Shields brows, let me tell you. This was very much a threading factory but I saw they do other things like bridal henna....hrm. :) $4 for clean shaped brows...madness! Also, when I tipped my brow artist, she looked surprised. Something tells me they don't get tipped very often. So if you do come in, tip a little something; get some good karma going on! read more

You can't expect super nice pampering in soothing atmosphere and pay only $4. That shouldn't be the reason you come here. This is a place to get your eye brow threaded very, very cheaply and FAST (like less than 5 minutes fast)... and i'd say that's about it. I've been there a few times and got different person threading my brows each time. Their level of friendliness kind of varied, but I wouldn't say they're rude. If you're going to come there for your first ever threading, I suggest you tell them up front. For me, threading hurts a bit (well, my pain threshold is not too high :)), especially if you don't have it regularly. They often said that if we thread it in 2 or 3 weeks it will hurt less. I usually do it every 6 weeks or so and that's probably why it hurts me. read more

I love this place--this is my go to place to get my eyebrows threaded. If you haven't tried this, basically they take a piece of thread and clean up your eyebrows by threading them! I've been going for years for threading and some waxing and it is VERY affordable. $4 for eyebrow threading--how can you beat that? Be wary of the wait sometimes though--you have to be smart about the times you choose to go. Generally speaking I believe this place is open from 11-6pm daily. I had my first threading experience not too long ago, thanks to Groupon, and I was amazed at how much longer the hair stays away than waxing. Heena Salon really gives you great value for your dollar. $15 for a full-face thread? I'd get two, but I only have one face! I literally walked in and someone helped me right away, which was great. I've only been to another salon, Wink, in Uptown... which I liked a little better in terms of atmosphere and customer service, but I think that both did an equally good job. I noticed a couple more hairs leftover after leaving Heena, but I also spent about a good 15 minutes less time in there... and the threader didn't keep breaking the thread, which can get annoying. They don't pamper you here or talk to you... so if this is your first experience and you want someone to really make you feel good, I'd go to Wink! My thoughts about this salon varies each time. I pay frequent visit to the the South bound location on Belt Line Rd. and Hwy 75 (specified because I was told there was one on the North bound side of Belt Line Rd. and Hwy 75). Occasionally I would go to the one in Frisco (by the Stonebriar Mall on Hwy 121 and Preston Rd.) What to expect: You are basically walking into Little India. Disregarding the smell, there will always be a Hindi movie being played on a 50-something inch telly. Customers, however, varies. You will be getting a $4 service, so don't expect to be greeted upon arrival or departure. Overall experience: This particular location looks like a typical salon. The waiting area is filled with seats that doesn't match. They are usually packed when I get in. They have a ticket system that doesn't work. I've been there often enough that women who has been waiting for anything more than fifteen minute would walk up to the available seat despite what numbers the girls yell out. Not to mention the girls would yell out 71,72,73,74.. continuously. If you are not paying attention, you may miss your turn. -1 star experience: My experience yesterday really ticked me off. I arrived at about 12:30p.m. when the salon was pretty empty. The girl (whose name I should have taken note of) continued talking to the rest of the girls who were waiting on customers' arrival while she was threading my eyebrows. If you had seen anyone doing threading, you would find it amusing. They bob their head back and forth, and frankly they are pretty close the person's face. I was breathing in her breath the entire time while she was working on my eyebrows while she chit-chat with her friends in Hindi (not to mention, I despise people talking over my ears in a language I don't understand.) Conclusion: Will I be a returning customer? Yes. Hopefully I will better luck with the other ladies who works there. One thing for sure though is that I would tell the person off if they ever talk to people surrounding her while she's threading my eyebrows. read more

You get what you pay for! Only $6 for eyebrows and for upper lip threading. It's quick but pretty stressful. The ladies are not friendly- not even a hello- just a "what you want?" They don't really communicate with words- they just grunt and then put your hands over your eyes where they need them. There are signs everywhere that say "TIPS."... that is something they openly communicate! When I left they gave me two things: 1. Bad vibes 2. Bleeding upper eyelid skin from an overzealous/unfriendly/ robot like humanoid I have had threading done several times before and have never had bleeding and cuts left on my skin. It's cheap because it's fast but beware. Taking your time and being meticulous is worth the money. I sure hope they are more sanitary than they appear since I could have been exposed to a blood borne illness. I am going back to waxing after this horrible experience. I've been going to Heena Salon for 3+ years now and have to agree with a lot of the previous reviews. Like others it is cheap, but with that you can't expect super fantastic quality and pampering. No, for $4 they aren't going to give you a massage or ask you how you are (they do have a piece of string in their mouth) but they are going to get you in and out as fast as they can. I've gone over lunch and even when there is no one there, the "regulars" (aka housewives) stop during that time and the ladies decide that my lunch break is their gossip hour. I'd stick with going super early on Saturday or later in the afternoon on a weekday. I love Sejal and the new girl. Both listen to me and have done a good job with my eyebrows. I used to get my waxing done here too but stopped. Yes, it's cheap and fast but not very clean and they don't pay attention to the direction the hair grows. So basically, I use Heena as a good clean up place and sometimes, if the right girl is there, I'll get them re-shaped as well. Also, there is a minimum amount to use credit cards. Second time in, I'm not satisfied at all. The top of my left eyebrow isn't even straight. It's quite thin. My arches are uneven. Where my brow starts are uneven. I know I had enough hair for it to be a straight line at least. Eyebrows are essential especially since it's on my face. Yes it's cheap. It's 4 dollars. Cash. Service isn't friendly. You don't even get a hello. The only English word you get is "hold." You pay for what you get. My friend told me to shade in my brows. I forgot to. So in a way it's my fault. But I already had a shape. I just needed a clean up. I can't say I would come back, but if I do I'd shade in my brows. Maybe it'd be better, but I don't trust this place. First time was okay. It was definitely better than this past at least. I waited to see if I was overreacting. I'm not. I hate my eyebrows today. Two star for price. One star for service. read more

This place is the cat's meow when it comes to threading and waxing. I drive from West Plano/Frisco area just to get my eyebrows threaded and for Brazilian waxes. You will find that a lot of other people do too!! There are two locations around Beltline and 75 for your convenience, BUT I strongly recommend going to the one in the Party City and TJMax shopping center next to Poshak. In comparison to other salons they are rather inexpensive and do a great job. The place is also popular with the college crowd. Who couldn't afford $4.00 to have your uni brow actually turned into two, shaped up and cleaned up; or the $2 bucks to have your 'stache whacked off?! From experience you will find Saturday mornings a reunion for all of the cute 20 something crowd from whatever party/club they went to the night before. Or you will overhear plans for that night. For all of you first timers, I would suggest that you make arrangements to visit at a non-peak time (peaks times being Friday's or Saturday's) so that you can enjoy and get the full experience. The consequence for your lack of planning will be you finding yourself in a standing room only lobby watching Bollywood music videos amongst mass chaos. :) I would recommend anyone to SHAZIA- she sits in the very first chair on the right. She is very professional, very gentle and takes the time to proportionately shape your eyebrows for your face. Having left many threading chairs with Pamela Anderson thin brows or having tissue stuck to my face where I have been pinched and cut, I can appreciate her work. Estella is my go to gal for year round bikini waxing. She is gentle gentle gentle. I still have not figured out how her technique is a virtually painless experience with whatever type of wax that you get. She is worth waiting for if they are busy. The salon does offer facial services at around $30.00. But I would recommend only doing them in between visits to a place that specializes in facials- let's say for instance Red Door, etc. Mom's, its not a bad price point for treating your teeny boppers, or spoiling yourself if you are on a budget! So, if you're looking for a nice, luxurious, relaxing place to get your threading & waxing done then I would not recommend this place. But if you're looking for a place that's cheap, quick and gets the job done then this is your place! Yes, it's Little India. Yes, the women can be inattentive and may even seem distracted at times. After all -- each threader services about 6-10 clients in one hour and stand up on their feet the entire time. Hey, I'd be cranky too. This is not to say all of the women are rude. 80% of the time I get threaders who greet me and are nice to me. The reason I keep going back is the price and how well they do my eyebrows. Like I said I've been going here every couple of weeks for 7 years and they've messed up twice. Tip: Don't go on Fridays after about noon and on the weekends. There's always a huge crowd. I have been having an on and off again relationship with this place for 2 years and I continue to be lured back here because of the cheap prices. Sometimes the service was swift and painless and other times it was painful and I break out. Finally, this last trip was the last straw. I was in so much pain from how rough the lady was and she was having a steady conversation with another staffer while 2 inches from my face. I was clearly in pain but she did not even bother to stop talking. Everytime I would flinch she would just keep going. I was brought to tears and finally I asked her to stop so that I can pay and leave. And I am not a hairy person so the half ass job that she did not look as bad on me. It was absolutely horrific how unprofessional that lady was. That said, each experience will be entirely different based on who happens to be working that day. My better experiences have been Thursday evening and my worst was a lady working on Tuesday morning (she spoke English, older heavy set lady with bad skin). But with how ugly it can get, I am permanently calling it quits and will never return to Heena Salon again. read more

Heena's a wonderful place. A no-frills threading factory, er I mean salon, for beautiful eyebrows. A roomful of women stare at you when you enter the salon. Once you get over the shock that it's packed, you take a number, sit down and wait. (On a late Monday afternoon, there was about 20 numbers ahead of me and took about 35 minutes with 3 technicians working) When it's finally your turn, you lean back in the chair and hold taut the skin around your brow while the threading technician/eyebrow magician goes to work. A couple of minutes later, you walk out with perfectly shaped eyebrows. Can't beat the price either. It's $4+tip for eyebrow threading (might be more if you're super hairy or something). Pain factor: threading has been my choice eyebrow management for over six years now, so I'm used to the discomfort level (or pain, if your skin's sensitive). But my eyes definitely still do water during the process. They're located at the SW corner of Beltline and 75, a few storefronts south of TJ Maxx. Sign says they close at 6, but don't arrive at 5:30. The boss lady might be tired so she closes the store early to clear out the waiting area by 6. read more

If you're not familiar with threading by now, it involves twisting a thread over your face to yank out the hair. So yes, it's just like plucking with tweezers, except that it happens much faster. That way the pain isn't drawn out so long. And it won't pull your outer layer of skin off like waxing does. I will agree with some of the other Yelp reviewers that you're not going to be pampered here. I also wouldn't necessarily rely on them for major shaping if your brows are out of control. Some of the girls are better than others. But if you're not happy with how they shape your brows, just tell them! They will always clean them up more. I've also had good luck with explaining what I want before they start. A picture might also help. The reason I've been coming back for 2 years now? $4 for brow clean-up! I had been wanting to try threading for my eyebrows for some time and I finally had the opportunity yesterday. I chose this location because of the recommendations here on Yelp. I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed, but then again, I wasn't WOW'ed either. The salon is in a cruddy little shopping center on the Southeast corner of Beltline/Main St and I-75. The interior of the salon is pretty shabby and the chairs you sit in for the threading have seen better days. The young lady that did my eyebrows was indifferent. I neither felt welcome or unwelcome. She threaded my eyebrows fairly well, but upon closer inspection at home I found a few stray hairs that I had to pluck myself. I much preferred it over waxing because my skin gets extremely irritated and burned when I wax. For several days following waxing I am red and puffy. This was the closest threading salon that offers a great price of $4 for eyebrows and $3 for upper lip. When walking in, the place looked like the Department of Moter Vehicles (DMV). Mis-matched chairs everywhere and rows of what seemed like 15 salon workers. You'll take a number and you must closely pay attention! Each stylist calls a random group of numbers quickly. ---Very ODD and inefficient system. The lady that threaded my brows was friendly, but she and other stylists talked to each other the entire time. I was terrified of not only coming out with jacked up brows but also of coming out with some kind of skin irritation or rash. Let's be honest, this place doesn't seem sanitary at all. My brows and lip were cleaned up very nicely but I took notice to how they did not pluck or cut with scissors like a traditional salon. You will also need to speak up and tell them what you want before they start! They will NOT ask you. I'll return if I'm unable to find another salon in the area-- but I'll definitely bring my own alcohol wipes to disinfect my face afterwards. read more

My first visit here was after I bombed one of my exams, LOOOL, and I decided to treat myself to some threading. I've my eyebrows threaded at the mall mini stations before but never at a shop. When I went here, the shop was going very fast paced... you have to take a ticket and they call out numbers so people can't get go ahead of you. So that's a plus! My first visit was great, I got a coupon and everything.. however my second visit was kind of a let down. The lady threaded one of my eyebrows higher than the other one so it looked really odd and I knew she couldn't fix it. And after she finished, my face was swollen cause she didn't put enough powder on those areas. This place is alright, but I'd rather stick to the threading stations at the Galleria and Stonebriar. read more
