Elaine took our reservation and Renée had our boat all ready to go when we arrived this morning. The two friends who were going to be driving were given detailed instructions on what routes on the lake were safe for boating (there are some shallow areas and areas that have underwater obstructions-- most of which are well marked, but a few that needed to be pointed out.) The pontoon boat "Isabelle" was beautifully equipped, ran very smoothly and had lots of comfortable seating. The boat was equipped with modern electronic equipment so we could track its route on our cell phones! We returned mid-trip to pick up one of our late arriving guests and the staff was ready to help us dock so he could easily board the boat. There are clean bathrooms at the marina, reasonably priced drinks, snacks and apparel. We had a fabulous experience and would highly recommend Trail Ridge Marina for boat rentals and their excellent customer service!

When you arrive to…read moretheir store location it's about 30 minutes of admin stuff before you load the buses to head for the launch point. You fill out the wavier paperwork, get a speech from one of the workers, and go through the line to your life jacket and paddle. They also have shoes for rent if you need them. The bus ride to the launch point is about 30 minutes. The staff do their best to keep everyone entertained while your on the bus; telling jokes, telling you facts about landmarks, and the local area. When you get to the launch point it's about another 15 minutes before you get on your raft. They go through another 5-7 minute speech about the water, how to maneuver, and all the safety stuff (just in case crap goes wrong). Then they split you up into groups and you load the raft. We truly had a blast on the raft and I never felt like I was at risk of injury, or unsafe through the entire ride. From start to finish it was about a 2 hour trip; but it went by really fast. I could have rode the river for at least another 1-2 hours. It was super chill and some of the rough waters (class II and III) didn't last long but made the ride very exciting. We did stop for about 30 minutes at a point where you can jump off a cliff. There is a 25 foot cliff as well as a small jump spot for kids (my 4 year old jumped from the small spot). I did go up to the 25 foot jump (along with about 30 other people). Jumping was not a problem at all because you walk up to the edge and simply walk off for the jump. They don't give you anytime to look around, think, or get scared. 30 people jumped off in less than 7-8 minutes. It felt great!! The ride back to the main store was much shorter; about 15 minutes. Overall we had a great time and it was well worth it.

The scenery is gorgeous and they are accommodating. be prepared to pay extra for anything, of course, as per usual. they also ask for tips which is understandable, so be prepared for that. the bus ride out to the river is long and uncomfortable when sitting next to people you don't know. extroverts' dream come true, but again, if you don't like having your ear talked off, you may want to avoid.

Confirmations and reminders come by email and text, and provide all the details that would be required. We found our 22 foot pontoon in perfect condition, and the craft performed beautifully during a tour of Lake Dillon that lasted over two hours. The instructions provided by the Marina staff were clear, concise, and thorough, allowing an inexperienced "Captain" to perform his duties at a high level. Most impressive, however, was how the Marina staff handled a crisis. Into the third hour of our rental, a thunderstorm came sweeping across Lake Dillon, raising serious whitecaps driven by strong, unpredictable winds. We headed a full throttle for the Marina Landing, where there were several boats in line, struggling to be secured to the dock despite the winds. With absolute aplomb, the Marina staff instructed us in steering the boat safely to dockside. Before the first drops of rain were falling, we were safely in our car. Then they had the nerve to charge us half the rental price for being just 30 minutes late on a 4-hour rental. Are you kidding me? This business is shady, unprofessional, and clearly doesn't care about safety or customer service. Avoid at all costs. I wouldn't rent a bathtub from these people, let alone a boat.

I was craving to get into the water after seeing all the kayaks out there. Mountain Paddlers made it really easy for me to rent a kayak. You can rent online ahead of time or they take walk-ups if there are kayaks available. You can reserve either a solo or tandem kayak on an hourly basis at the Kayak Shak near the beach. After making payment, you then take your receipt to the loading area to get into your kayak. There are staff members on hand to help you into your kayak. The kayaks are comfortable and sturdy and suitable for all ages. The staff went over the boundaries of the lake with me and the fun places to go exploring. They also gave me a dry bag to put my phone and keys in. I had a blast kayaking all around Grand Lake. It is such a beautiful lake and there is lots to explore. I really enjoyed the mountain views and the fresh air. I was able to make my way over to Shadow Mountain Lake. I highly recommend checking out Mountain Paddlers if you are spending a day here. The rental process was simple and the service was great.

This year we went down at 10am to beat the crowds and all the kayaks were rented. By 10:30 we were on the water but it can be busy. People are nice taking your money. 3hrs in a single kayak costs around $75 plus tax. Not cheap but worth it. They offer life jackets and surly service on the dock. Located right off the beach on the east end of town and next to the marina coffee shop. Easy access and not much parking at the marina. Use the public lots.
