Our group of 8 RV traveling friends rented a 24' pontoon boat from Trail Ridge Marina for 4 hours at $475 plus tax. Elaine took our reservation and Renée had our boat all ready to go when we arrived this morning. The two friends who were going to be driving were given detailed instructions on what routes on the lake were safe for boating (there are some shallow areas and areas that have underwater obstructions-- most of which are well marked, but a few that needed to be pointed out.) The pontoon boat "Isabelle" was beautifully equipped, ran very smoothly and had lots of comfortable seating. The boat was equipped with modern electronic equipment so we could track its route on our cell phones! We returned mid-trip to pick up one of our late arriving guests and the staff was ready to help us dock so he could easily board the boat. There are clean bathrooms at the marina, reasonably priced drinks, snacks and apparel. We had a fabulous experience and would highly recommend Trail Ridge Marina for boat rentals and their excellent customer service! read more

The place is really lovely inside and looks incredibly comfortable to hang out as well as smelling great. There is a cafe attached to the building but I never saw anybody behind the counter or in the kitchen so not sure what that was about. Looks cozy with lots of games and seating but no customers either. In the main office, we arranged to rent a fishing pontoon for the next day and the young lady was very kind saying we didn't need to make a deposit. Overnight I got an email to submit my rental agreement and legal waiver information that they weren't liable for accidents. Normal stuff. Upon arrival the next morning, a very pretty cruising pontoon was ready for us, but it wasn't a "fishing" pontoon, so no live well, no rod holders and no fish finder with depth radar. It was quickly swapped out for their Phish! pontoon but the Lowrance fish finder did not work and so no depth radar either. Nobody at the marina knew how it worked. The USB charging port was rusted and didn't work either. The radio didn't work. Our fishing trip was a bust and essentially it was only a "touring" pontoon ride which was disappointing. For the high price they charge for their rentals, one expects all these things to work. I cannot recommend this place for fish excursions, but touring with the pontoon is what they're good for. I found the tiki pontoons to be hilarious and looked like fun if one has a group of people. read more

This was a perfect spot to rent a pontoon boat for a few hours! Service was friendly. They have this cool gps system where you can see exactly where you are on the lake and which areas to avoid. We rented a pontoon boat for 3 hours (apparently there is a 3 hour minimum unless you rent it at 8am). I think this is the only Marina where you can access both shadow mountain lake and grand lake, and it was super cool to see both lakes. Shadow mtn lake was less crowded and had these 3 little islands that you can park your boat next to and swim. You can also drive over to the grand lake side and park in the public marina and grab some yummy ice cream. We rented in July and it did rain in the afternoon for an hour, so we cut our time a little short but it all worked out anyway. Bonus that you don't have to pay extra for gas when you return the boat. This place was great! read more

We took a vacation last summer up at Grand Lake, and wanted to spend a day out on the water. There are a number of marinas that rent boats, but weirdly, a bunch of them were closed, so we ended up down stream a bit at Trail Ridge Marina. Very, very please with the whole experience. First, the facility is super easy to find, and there is plenty of parking if you have a bit of a caravan. The staff was fantastic, outgoing, and very thorough in both their safety briefing and overview of the two lakes. We elected to take one of the larger pontoon boats, as there were nine of us, including a couple of youngsters. The boat was clean and well maintained, easy to operate, and plenty big for the group. Only complaint is that the outboard engine was (obviously deliberately) so throttled governed down to a lower throttle that the boat felt genuinely slow compared to expectations. That said, it's a pontoon. If we wanted faster, I'm certain there were faster options. All in all, great experience! read more

We enjoyed a wonderful 2-hour sunset rental on a newer pontoon boat that we got at Trail Ridge Marina. We paid around $300 and our group of 10 savored a warm and sunny trip around 2 inter-connected lakes. James at the dock was super friendly and helpful and gave us a thorough briefing on hazards to avoid out on the lake and helpful instructions on how to navigate through this narrow bridge to go see the luxurious Grand Lake homes. At 6 pm on a Sunday night we mostly had the lake to ourselves. The equipment was clean and worked flawlessly. read more

My family and I were visiting the Grand Lake area and decided to use this marina for kayaking because it was women owned and close by our Airbnb. We have a wonderful time! From the person in the office to the people helping us into the kayaks , everyone was lovely and kind! We had perfect weather and decided to go out for two hours. We got to see river otters, ducks, geese, osprey AND a bull moose!!! It was thrilling! Would definitely recommend this business! read more

This place was so amazing and accommodating! We booked two boats and then had someone cancel making us be able to fit in one boat. They gave me a full refund on the second boat! Additionally, we wanted a boat with a ladder and they were super accommodating to help us switch. Highly recommend. This activity was one of the highlights of our family trip to Colorado. First, the service was impeccable. The lady at the front counter was super friendly, gave us clear instructions for navigating the lake's boundaries, and provided good directions to the part of the lake we wanted to see. You've got to go to the part of the lake that goes under the bridge then through the narrow gate, because the view really opens up. Our family loved the freshly popped popcorn in their front desk area (it's the little things). Their bathrooms are clean. The price for the hour of boating was so reasonable for our group of 12. There was more than enough room for all of us. We brought some snacks and drinks on board, which made for a fun outing on the lake. read more

I have rented boats from Trail Ridge Marina several times over the years and cannot say enough good things about my experience. The location is easy to find just south of town, staff is friendly, and boats are clean and well maintained. They also have fun events like movie nights, concerts from local musicians, etc. It is obvious how hard the staff works to provide a great experience for customers. TMR is also the only marina that allows you to take boats between two lakes which gives you the option of enjoying the scenery of the islands on Shadow Mountain and checking out the town and homes on Grand Lake. We had a terrific day on Grand Lake amd Shadow Mtn reservoir today thanks to the enthusiastic and caring folks at Trail Ridge Marina. We reserved our pontine rental maybe 3 weeks ahead and exchanged messages with Rene' the owner to get the right boat at the right time of day to make it just right. My friends and I rented a few tandem kayaks and paddle boards for July 5th and we had an awesome time. The staff were super helpful and quick to get us in the water which was greatly appreciated. They were very nice and gave us recommendations for where to eat in town. The equipment seemed to be kept well and we didn't have any problems! I have rented pontoon boats from this marina twice, once a few years ago when it had a previous owner, and again last weekend. While the last operation was more than fine, I cannot say enough about how great the folks who are running things now were. The marina itself has a small restaurant/bar, shop, and a patio with about the best view you can ask for. The boat was in almost new condition with no mechanical or cosmetic issues whatsoever, and I was given a full rundown of the lake including special spots to venture to and areas to avoid (everyone working the dock was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.) The best part about Trail Ride though, is that has close to if not the best prices in Grand County, and allows travel from Shadow Mountain to Grand Lake! read more

On a beautiful fall Saturday in September, no one has any business being inside. We called up Trail Ridge to see what last minute reservations we could pull off. Without a hitch we were down at the Marina an hour later with an 8 person pontoon with our name on it. We were greeted upon arrival by two very friendly marina employees. Although I'm pretty sure they were both the owners. The gentleman walked us through the boat operations and thoroughly went through the map of Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake, how to safely get between the two as well as how to beach the boat and check out one of the islands of Shadow Mountain. Oh. My. Gosh. I am blown away. This is by far the best marina in the granby/winter park/Fraser area. Worth the half hour drive for SURE. This is the only marina that allows you to go between both shadow mountain lake and grand lake. At other marinas, you are only able to stay within the one lake they are based in. Not only this, but the staff is so incredibly kind. The manager James set up a pink tiki umbrella on our boat for free because the kids wanted it so badly. He put forth extra work to screw fasten it on just to make it more fun for us! Ellie and another gal (sadly I cannot remember her name at the moment) were also so helpful. We rented a pontoon, enjoyed the beautiful view, got to go through channels and under bridges, and got to jump off a 10ft bridge which is a popular activity in this area!! Wish I had a great experience. The staff was rude when I called about bad weather and cancelling my reservation. I'm not from CO, so I'm not familiar with the area or weather patterns. My stay was still 2hrs away from Grand Lake. Over the phone I was told that it didn't matter, (they don't care), every other company would charge me full price cancelling after 24hrs and they wouldn't cancel unless it was raining at the time of my reservation. So they expect someone to drive 2hrs, just to cancel? The weather was 80% chance rain the time of my reservation. I didn't cancel before the 24hrs because I was hoping the forecast would change so that I could make it. To sum it up. The female I spoke with was short, unreasonable, and rude. Their email event states their policy with weather. Rain=cancellation. I called ahead to make sure I wasn't charged as a no show. Still got robbed of $300+. Then I got an email talking about thanks for riding with us. YEAH OKAY. Plan extra ahead here people, or lose your money here. read more

We were super happy with Trail Ridge Marina and are actually renting from them again in a couple of weeks. Friendly staff, they have some pet-friendly boats, and even a Tiki boat that we want to take for a spin sans kiddos sometime! They were also flexible with weather; it looked like rain might be coming and when I called I was told if it was raining when we could cancel, or if it started raining while we were on the boat we would be prorated for the tome we couldn't boat. We rented a 12 persons pontoon boat and had a fabulous time. It was a very windy day and that made docking the boat difficult. We had a total of 16 people in our party so we had to rotate people in and out of the boat. The staff at the Marina were so nice and helpful when we docked to change people out, we wouldn't have had such a wonderful time without them.
