ZERO STARS if I could! This place is an absolute joke. They gave us a beat-up, ancient pontoon boat that looked like it hadn't been maintained in years. The seats were completely ripped and disgusting, making the whole experience uncomfortable from the start. We saw another boat just sitting there and asked to switch -- they flat-out lied and said they had no others available. On top of that, they didn't even provide basic life jackets. Total negligence. Then they had the nerve to charge us half the rental price for being just 30 minutes late on a 4-hour rental. Are you kidding me? This business is shady, unprofessional, and clearly doesn't care about safety or customer service. Avoid at all costs. I wouldn't rent a bathtub from these people, let alone a boat. read more

I was excited because few places rent kayaks in October. Their site says they are open to rent until late October. We called two months in advance to confirm this and that they rented kayaks or canoes. They explicitly said they were open October 10 for this purpose. Got there today just past 3 and were initially told they don't rent kayaks. I rechecked the site and pointed this out to them and they rudely changed their minds and said they were closing early because a storm was coming in. Rented a pontoon boat here for our multi-generation family of 6 adults and two toddlers; around $135+gas for two hours. We were impressed that, in these COVID-respecting times, all staff members were wearing masks, only one person as allowed in their office at a time, and our boat was washed down before we boarded it. A 10 minute instruction and suggestions for where to take the boat were given and off we went to enjoy the amazingly blue and fluffy-cloud skies and happily-calm waters of Lake Granby. There was more than adequate seating for us all, as well as a canopy to get out of the sun. Saw an osprey nest with watchful mama and baby, but no other wildlife sightings as we made our way through a perfect afternoon boat ride. read more

We booked an 8:00 fishing trip and were there by about 7:40. We walked down to the dock and asked where to go. The older man pointed us in the right direction so we went up to pay. The lady in the office told us our guide's name. I THINK it was Eric. He wasn't very memorable. We grabbed our things out of the car and made our way to the dock. On our way down there, a guy walked by and muttered, "I'll be with y'all in a minute.". He didn't introduce himself or say hi or ANYTHING. My boyfriend didn't even hear him speak. He came back and went to his boat. Again, he walked by us and didn't say anything. About five minutes later he waves at us and says "I'm ready for y'all now!". I told my boyfriend that I didn't want to spend four hours on a boat with a jerk (I used another phrase but I'll keep this PG.), so, we went back up to the office and got our money back. When someone is spending that amount of money to have a good time and catch some fish, you better have the personality of someone who actually wants to show people a good time. No manners. No social skills. Zero hospitality. Just a jerk. We ended up fishing with Dan from Fishing with Bernie. read more

We had quite the experience! After being completely unprepared for our reservation and having to retrieve a boat for us which ultimately resulted in us leaving 15 minutes late, we also had the great privilege of watching the intergalactic sucking sound known as "Rhymes With Jim" accuse our group of docking at a forbidden island and letting people off even though we all had the exact same number of life forms that we had when we left their dock (apparently Rhymes With Jim couldn't count on his 1 bit computational processor to figure this out.) And then, even after realizing he was wrong, "Rhymes With Jim" continued to participate in his self study of the local "Quarter of an Ass" program with our group resulting in part of our team giving up and heading back to inner space for literally doing nothing wrong. What a way to end a perfect weekend. Thanks "Rhymes With Jim"! My 150 intergalactic pals who visit this area annually wouldn't use you now for scraping the "Rhymes With Poo" off of our subdimensional booties. read more

We had a great experience renting a pontoon boat from Beacon Landing! We did the early bird special which was a great deal for 4 hours. The owner was extremely helpful and gave us a ton of advice on setups and the best places to fish. Getting on/off the boat was easy and they gave us a thorough operating rundown before letting us hit the water. We would absolutely rent from them again next time we're in Granby. read more

We rented a pontoon for 3 hours today. The day ended up being a bit chilly and windy. We only stayed out for about an hour and a half. I was pleasantly surprised when the attendant apologized that they had to charge us the 2 hour minimum as I'd expected to have to pay for the whole reservation. Additionally the gas usage was under 3 gallons and the dock attendant was super friendly and helpful. Great experience-we will be back next time we're in town. read more

We did a 6 hour boat rental that turned out to be the best $250 I spent all week in the high country. Breath taking scenery and a good quality boat & 4-stroke 50hp Honda engine. Kudos to "Kev" our Dock Dude. Saw 2 huge bull moose as a bonus. Very friendly & courteous staff. I've been in Jim's shoes as a resort owner. Terrible business. They delete bad reviews. Don't go to this place. I've rented from multiple marinas in grandby. By far the worst. Boats were in terrible shape. Didn't run right or function right. If I could rate this place zero stars I would. We host a large camp out for about 150 people on Lake Granby every year. On the last day of our camp out we always rent pontoon boats to go out on Shadow Lake. This year we decided to explore Lake Granby and rented 3 pontoon boats from Beacon Landing. That was our first mistake. Our reservation was for 11:30. Upon arriving at 11:30, none of the pontoon boats were ready. Our 3 groups waited on the dock for 10 - 15 minutes while staff retrieved the boats. This alone would not have bothered any of us. However.... Our group (9 adults, 2 children, 1 baby) finally boarded our boat and we were 'greeted' by Jim. He was rather terse and rude as he told us the rules. Our original intent was to take the boats to a nearby island. When told we could not beach the boats, we decided we would simply anchor off the island and make alternate plans with the rest of our group. After assuring Jim that we would not beach the boat, we left the dock. That was our second mistake... We headed out to the other side of the island. As we passed the island we could see several PERSONAL watercraft belonging to many of our other group members already beached, and the members were already on the island. (Many of our group members bring their own boats, kayaks, canoes, etc. each year.) We got around to the back of the island and dropped anchor about 150 feet from shore. The other 2 boats from our party soon joined us, and as we were making plans to explore the lake, the adults in our boat noticed a white speed boat quickly approaching. As the UNMARKED boat got closer, several of us stood up waving our arms and screaming because the boat was headed straight for us at a high rate of speed. We were anchored and could not get out of the way. At the last second the boat turned and we recognized the owner, Jim. We were stunned and shaking. Jim proceeded to accuse us of beaching the boat. When we tried to tell him we absolutely had NOT beached the boat, he started screaming at us about the people already on the island and how did they get there. How he failed to see the numerous personal watercraft that brought those people to the island I will never understand. When we tried to point this out, he quickly shut us down. My husband, who was our driver, was then told we could not get closer than 100 feet to the shore or we were done for the day. He asked Jim if Jim was saying we were done, at which point Jim said no. My husband asked if we were fine where we were. Jim said yes. My husband asked why were were being yelled at then, at which point Jim proceeded to scream at our entire group that we better not beach the boat and DO WE UNDERSTAND him?!? At this point, we chose to nod, pull up anchor, and head back. we had the boat maybe 20 - 25 minutes of our 2 hour reservation. When we returned to dock, I went into the office to discuss the incident. Third mistake. The owners wife was in the office and immediately got defensive and rude. Jim soon joined her and could not understand why we were so upset. His explanation for charging our boat was 'I am very good at handling boats'. Well I'm sure he is, but we had no idea WHO was driving the boat that looked like it was going to slam into our anchored boat of 12 (including a baby and 2 small children). He expressed no concern at all for our fear and at one point during the conversation said the safety of his BOATS is his priority! To sum it up, we will NEVER return to this place. It was a horrific experience that soured what was a wonderful vacation. I would highly recommend spending your money at any other marina on the lake!! read more

Loved this place on Lake Granby. Prices were great!! Owner let us take our 14-year-old Boston Bull Terrier with us (as a favor) as long as we took an older pontoon. The owners were really great and let us set up a reservation and gave us car passes so we wouldn't get a ticket for being in Arapahoe National Forest without a pass. I didn't even know we needed one. They have a great map and we really enjoyed the day. They have fish finders attached to the dash. I never know there was such a thing. It showed us the depth and the schools of fish underneath the boat. I will for sure be back. The prices sure beat the ones for Grand Lake. read more

Rented a 20 foot pontoon boat. Excellent customer service and great prices. Lisa, the Owner, was super friendly and helpful..lots of information of the lake and fishing. Eric helped with loading our equipment on the boat and went over all the controls and safety. We are recreational boaters, so it was nice to get a review. Good supply of fishing equipment and ice. We started out with 2 hours and ended up staying out for 4. We just called Lisa (yes, cell phone reception on the Lake) to request the additional hours. We took a 4 hour guided fishing trip with Eric. Everyone in our group of 4 caught fish and had a great time. Eric was very knowledgeable and attentive to all our needs with our poles, bait, netting fish, taking pictures and cleaning our fish. I would highly recommend a guided fishing trip with Beacon Landing. Jim and Lisa are wonderful people and have also been very helpful in getting me off to a successful start to my first year of boating. read more

I love the idea of having our family out on a boat enjoying the waves. We rarely have the chance. Unfortunately, our experience at Beacons landing was met with an employee's bad day and their need to charge at our boat and accuse us of beaching when we were anchored more than 100 feet away from shore. His demeanor, action and words were unnecessary micromanaging of a large groups need to enjoy the beautiful experience that many of us, including numerous children, were soaking in while abiding the contract with Beacons Landing. I would not recommend this marina when there are others with much friendlier service. read more

Our family and I rented a 20 foot pontoon and rented 3 poles and bought licenses and equipment. Everything was very good...fishing rods/reels are not very good but not expensive either. Be aware they have multiple signs stating that it is "cash only for fishing and Hunting licenses"; however, afte reading these signs and headed into town to find an ATM my wife called and said its actually okay to pay with card if renting a boat. Frustrating to make a 30 minute effort to get cash when I didn't need to. Overall very nice family that owns it and prices are best I could find on the lake. read more

Beware of renting here. The prices looked amazing to us, but when we came back from a great three hours on Lake Granby we were "charged" an extra $75 for bending a rotor on the motor. We were a group of four with two expert boaters in the crew. We cruised the middle of the lake and beached once in very deep water - we would have heard a hit on the rotor. Either they have very cheap parts or this may be an "extra" charge they do on a regular basis. Very disappointed. read more

The owners and staff (minus 1 dock hand) were extremely rude and made me an extremely anxious customer. We didn't realize that we had rented a "No Dog" boat but showed up with a few. Instead of something along the lines of "Oh were sorry there are no dogs allowed on this boat and there is nothing we can do about it" the owner walked up and grunted at us "Get those dogs off that boat", then we had kayaks we wanted to use for the day and his only comment was "Those aren't going on this boat, get them off the dock", then finally its time to show us how the boat works and he grunts at my friend who plans to drive and is sitting behind the wheel "Get up". There was not a welcoming hello, please or thank you the entire interaction. Before all this I had asked the female dock hand if there were any beaches where we could get off the boat to hangout- her response "ummmm there are like 3 beaches.... the only one I know of is far away". THANKS FOR NOTHING!!! (We were able to find a great beach just a 15 min boat drive away on our own) When my boyfriend went inside to speak with the female owner to discuss our options to deal with dogs he greeted her with "How are you doing today" her response "better than you"; I thought he was kidding - nope. I have never dealt with ruder people in a customer service position in my life. I spent the whole day worried about what things we were going to be up charged for or get in trouble for upon returning the boat. There were no issues when the boat was returned---because it is a pontoon boat on a big lake with high water and our dogs spent the day on the beach. read more

The staff in the store are very friendly as are the young men on the dock. They are very knowledgeable about fishing and are eager to help. They have fishing guides also if you're new to mackinaw lake trout fishing, one of the friendly guides even gave me a couple of fillets to cook up. read more

We have rented pontoon boats from Beacon Landing about 4 or 5 times over the years and they are fantastic! The owners and others who work there are always friendly and helpful-pointing out where we can see wildlife and explaining how the boat works. The condition of the boats are fine--remember these are rentals and have more than average usage. Sure, there may be a cushion patched with duct tape but I wouldn't expect them to take a boat out of commission for several days during the busy season for re-upholstering. They take care of that in the off season. But the boats have always been clean and have run well so we're happy and will continue to use only Beacon Landing! read more
