In the meantime, our cast iron bar stools swiveled into the edge of the bar, causing chips in the main Formica countertop. It finally felt like the right time to make the change. Edan at Midwest Marble and Granite helped me select attractive elements like the sink, faucet, quartz material, and backsplash ceramic tile. Because of her experience as an interior decorator, I really valued her insights. On installation day, I was truly impressed by Jake, Carlos, and the team. They worked tirelessly to remove the old countertops and backsplash and to ensure the heavy new countertops were perfectly aligned and level. I had no idea how physically demanding this work could be. The next day, during backsplash installation, the same praise goes to Patrick, Frank, Eddie, and Austin. They spent hours bending over the counters, meticulously cutting, placing, and grouting ceramic tiles on four walls. That has to be backbreaking, especially for someone as tall as Frank! Midwest Marble and Granite transformed my kitchen with high-quality materials that were expertly installed in a timely and friendly manner. What more could I want?

KB Design Solutions is a company to avoid. They took my money, did terrible work, left a mess,…read morewould not respond to messages, and disappeared. We ordered custom cabinets and put a hefty amount down in good faith. What we received were terrible prefabricated garbage made from flimsy particle board, much of which was water damaged. Further, the install was terrible. The drywall was put in wrong, with no tape and no mud. I had another installer come in to fix the dry wall damage. The cabinets were not aligned properly, did not fit in the space allotted, and were damaged. They made no effort to take them back or replace them. They are a dishonest and untrustworthy outfit. Stay away from this company. They have not attempted to make this right, and we ended up ordering cabinets from a different company that makes quality cabinets. This entire ordeal has been a colossal monetary loss for us. Here are some issues that we wish to bring to your attention: Kitchen Island 1. The foot kick was not aligned and only extended under the shelves 2/3'S of the length. There was no foot kick under the last 1/3 where the trash cabinet was set. S 2. The foot kick under the trash cabinet is pointing orthogonal to the other cabinets. 3. The Foot kick under the trash cabinet is misaligned (not flush) with the adjacent cabinet. 4. The cabinets are made from thin particle board. We were expecting wood. 5. The cabinets are not aligned. The width of the trash cabinet is not the same as the other cabinets with the drawers and hence are not aligned. They tried to remedy the problem with shim stock, but the outcome looked poor. 6. The molding does not match at the foot kick for the left side drawer cabinet. 7. The foot kick molding edges are not painted. 8. There was some water damage in one cabinet behind the plastic wedges. I changed all of the wedges to metal wedges looking for more water damage and other issues. 9. A hole was punched through one of the cabinet panels by a screw that was too long. Other Cabinets 1. The cabinets were not painted on the inside as they were supposed to be per our discussions. 2. The cabinets are not flush with the soffit ledge, leaving an unsightly overhand. 3. The Lazy Susan has no back to it. With no sides, it leaves an opening between the stove and the back of the cabinet. A granite top could not be placed on it. They used some scrap 2x4 and attach to the wall as a support for the top. There is still an open space between the stove and the Lazy Susan because of the ridiculously poor craftsmanship. See 4. The pantry shelves are stationary and do not pull out. We clearly asked that the pantry shelves be the pull out drawer style. 5. The cabinet bottom above the sink area is unfinished, leaving an unsightly appearance with gaps between the cabinets. The same is true for the cabinet above the refrigerator. 6. The toe kick edges for the cabinets are not painted. 7. The cabinets are apparently about an inch short in total length and do not reach the end of the soffit. Further, Tim cut out the picture rail according to the drawings, but now there is a gap left because the cabinet manufacturers were an inch off. 8. None of the shelves are wood, which will warp and expand over time, especially the board that would be under the sink.

After we scheduled installation, several things went wrong. 1. They called to postpone. 2. They broke one piece, so had to delay longer. 3. It doesn't look like they applied sealer to the countertop. We've called at least 10 times to have them come look, but they won't return the calls. It's been a month. 0 Stars My horrid…read morehorrible experience with the a-team who, in my opinion (IMO), does not live up to their name unless a= amateurs. In summary, I had a porch redone and they: 1. put in tongue and groove porch decking with screws like a patio deck, 2. left up to ¼ inch gaps between the tongue and groove on nearly half the porch, 3. left an inch visible gap next to a column on the porch deck, 4. took three times coming back to put the railing on straight, 5. and, overbilled needed "additional work" and tried to gaslight me into agreeing I got a good deal. Do you want details? Keep reading. After talking me up on their quality of work I decided to pay for a porch replacement for my house. I felt good; the price was on the high side but I really wanted a quality job. After doing the tear out, the project lead told me they needed to do additional structural work under the porch. He gave a tear out and rebuild or repair option. In my opinion (IMO), he was clearly disappointed when I didn't agree to just have them replace the entire structure underneath the porch (for a hefty bid increase). The additional work needed was setting 3 new joists next to existing joists, adding 8 joist hangers to existing joists, and adding cripples to the center joist. Nothing had to be torn out or separately supported beyond what was already needed to replace the porch rim. The project manager bid that this work was going to take 2 carpenters a half a day's work was completely outrageous. When I complained that the additional work he was proposing was "Price Gouging" and did not represent the work being proposed, he agreed it might be overbid and said he would have his workers specifically track time on the additional work. I agreed this was an equitable way to track the needed additional work. When the job was done and final inspection was offered, several problems stood out. 1. the bottom stair was half missing, 2. the railings were several inches out of level and square, 3. the railings were cut off square to the round columns rather than wrapping around as they had been before and 4. the worst... the tongue and groove decking was put down with screws and spaces like patio decking (¼ inch spaces on one end) I complained and they came back... and complained and they came back... and complained and they came back. After three times back to the house to improve the quality of work, the decking was still fubar'd but the railing was straight. (1/4 inch gaps in the tongue and groove, 1 inch gap between the flooring and a column, tongue and groove not cut off on the ends, and, of course, all the screw heads in the flooring. IMO, very sloppy). They then quit responding to me. Definitely Not the Quality I Hoped For. When such obvious errors and shortcuts can be seen on a job as simple as a porch column repair and flooring replacement, one wonders what shortcuts and problems are hidden inside bigger jobs...the pics they take don't point out these flaws and IMO, gave me a false sense of knowing what was happening with the repair work since I could not be on site. On the billing, it was the full amount for the extra work with no explanation. After dodging my calls for a few days, the project lead responded and tried to BS me by saying his team really spent a half day on that part of the job despite not having tracked it as promised. He then highly embellished the work that needed to be done by calling out tasks that were part of the original work and claiming they had to be done for the additional work request. When I knew enough about construction repair to challenge his claims, he backed off. He then changed tactics and went on to say the overcharge was really due to underestimating how much time it took his team to repair the porch columns from the original bid. He said that everything really balanced out because of that extra work and "I was really getting a good deal". l told him I thought it was bill charging shenanigans and price gouging. When the owner was confronted, he claimed it was unreasonable to expect a crew to accurately document time on a task despite his foreman saying they would. Buyer be warned... If you want a team who will follow through on what they promise and will do the job right, keep looking. IMO steer clear of the a-team when looking to make home repairs and upgrades; I will be for my next home repair and restoration project.

The quote was accurate, they used excellent materials (selected from a set of recommendations in the quote), and they did a great job. I have never seen a group of people work harder than A-Team. They worked through Covid with only a few days missed when someone was out and they were not able to fill in with someone from another project. There were daily updates on progress and they cleaned up the site every evening before they left. I found everyone from the office staff to the construction professionals to be knowledgeable and very well-informed. Their prices were very reasonable too. I am very happy with their work and would choose A-Team again for any project in the future.
