Our…read moreoldest child is obsessed with music and performance and what has made Westlake Music Academy stand out from other music schools we have been part of is not only their excellent instruction but the opportunity they provide to students in their school. No other music school in our area provides the opportunities Westlake Music Academy does from private lessons to summer camps to auditioning for speciality groups and bands to junior and senior battle of the bands, songwriting, theory, production, performance, and more. Students can really access so many facets of the music world from a young age and for our son who wants to pursue music as a career this has been such a blessing. How cool to actually get to practice and apply what you're learning while making other musician friends along the way. We are so thankful for Marcus and this music school. We highly recommend Westlake Music Academy!

I wanted private piano lessons for my girls to foster a love for music and introduce basic music…read moretheory education. After a brief conversation with Marcus he very quickly assigned Gavin as a good match for us and our schedule. It has been such a luxury to have someone come to our home for lessons. Gavin has been professional and so patient and made piano fun for the girls. They're not only learning how to read music but also learning to play root chords along with their favorite songs, which makes them want to practice and enjoy their new abilities. I wish my piano experience at a young age could have been like this. I couldn't recommend WMA more.

It's been awhile since I wrote a very honest and heartfelt review regarding our experience with…read moreChris' music program. I have seen his response and decided to set the record straight. Yes, there are two sides to every story, and Chris always thinks his is correct. I feel that Chris may be confusing me with someone else, as I did not have a follow up cordial conversation with him (at least not on his part). I was nothing but kind to Chris all along. Kids get sick. Chris just wanted "different" students and wanted to open up space for them. Nonetheless, my student DID in fact take a break, and then we found the most amazing piano teacher ever, right in our neighborhood. This teacher is well trained, in high demand and plays throughout the community and beyond. I am very grateful that we left Chris; otherwise, life wouldn't have brought this new excellent teacher into our lives as not only a teacher but a friend. I wish Chris nothing but the best. It's unfortunate he chose to try to twist the facts, but not surpised. Happily moved on.

I have been taking piano lessons with Chris at Enjoy Music Lessons for almost a year now. I highly…read morerecommend! The lessons started off in-person, and have evolved into virtual lessons as a result of COVID-19. This format has made lessons very easy. No commute time! When we began, Chris evaluated my current skill level and recommended I start with a first level music book to work on the fundamentals. During the lessons, Chris provides meaningful feedback, shares resources on games that can help with intervals, memorizing notes, and other fundamentals. (I am in my 30's and enjoy the games just as much, or more, than somebody younger :)) This has all strengthened my skill-set over time. Chris also asks for my feedback on songs I am interested in learning. He has taught me some key elements of improv, as well as songs from the Beatles, the Styx, John Legend and other musicians. He also responds to questions along the week. I always look forward to learning the next song, and working with Chris as he provides valuable feedback!

We were recommended to a local studio, long story short that did not work out. They were completely incompetent. I went onto Yelp and found Sue Lopez, I instantly knew she was going to be the one. My daughter and I went to her first lesson - Ms. Sue was AMAZING!!! Not only does she have a talent to teach piano, but her teaching style, philosophy and demeanor completely hooked my daughter. Within the first 2 months my daughter was already playing Beethoven, Bach, the Blues, Ballads and more. Her effort, skill and talent has impressed us all. Ms. Sue encourages my daughter to express herself on the piano, she creates a safe learning environment where my daughter feels empowered and courageous. It has been truly amazing to witness. If one is lucky, Ms. Sue and her husband (also a gifted musician) treats us to a awesome performance. Thank you Sue Lopez!!! We highly recommend her!

It really keeps my daughter engaged and motivated because she's not stuck playing one-handed songs like "mary had a little lamb." It's been about 3 months now, and she has about a dozen songs she can play well now -- all of them have different parts for the right and left hands. She sounds great and loves impressing family and friends with her playing. My daughter even signed herself up for her school's talent show only a few weeks into lessons with Sue. That's confidence that will stay with her forever. Finally, I didn't want piano to be something I had to push and nag my daughter about-- we have enough to do each week. There are weeks my daughter practices a lot, and other weeks where it's busy and she can't practice as much, but: --My daughter always looks forward to playing and lessons --Sue is always positive about it, whether it was a good practice week or a light practice week, and gives her lots of encouragement. THANK YOU!

Steve is an amazing music teacher. He's patient and makes the lesson fun while keeping my daughter…read morefocused on task. Steve has been teaching my daughter for over 4 years. We started with piano when she was about 4 and a half years old and added voice lessons about 6 months ago. We started with traditional music books but Steve stepped it up with modern music every once in a while to keep my daughter excited and interested. About a year ago I found a Disney Princess music book and Steve was happy to take on the challenge of teaching her how to play from that book. This improved my daughters motivation to practice tremendously. He also uses a point based reward system that keeps her engaged as well. When I discovered my daughter was cheating at reading music (memorizing a song instead of reading it) he jumped right in with an explanation to my daughter that almost exactly matched what I had told her and reinforced the need to truly understand what she was looking at on the page. They went back to basics until she remembered what she was supposed to be doing all along. Another time my daughter needed help matching her dance moves to the rhythm of the music selected for her dance recital. I asked Steve if he could please translate what I was trying to explain to her in terms she would understand, for example, the number and timing of the arm punches had to match the beat of the notes being played. She was just just frantically punching and completely off on her timing, lol! Like magic, he asked what song it was, played it on the piano on the spot and she watched how each note he played was supposed to match a body movement. In ten minutes he got her to understand what I had been trying to explain for over 3 weeks. I was so thankful that he even cared about his student's dance recital and was willing to help however he could. Without hesitation I would 100% recommend Steve for music lessons if you are looking for a teacher.
