Heights Asian Cafe is always on point. I love to stop in here for a chill casual meal. The staff is very nice and they remember you the next time you visit, it's like you're family! They do a great job whether you order dine-in or takeout. I like to order the chicken fried rice and wonton soup with a raspberry tea to drink. Can't go wrong with that, but I've had various entrees here and they have all been delicious. I also recommend the General Tso's, sesame chicken, egg rolls, and spring rolls. One day I want to try their pho but haven't been able to switch up from my normal just yet. There are tables and booths inside that accommodate 4-6 people, and there are a couple of TVs for casual viewing. There is plenty of parking available as well. Valentine's Lunch with Mom... let's do this. First off, the place was clean. Tables shining, floors behaving, no sticky menus, no weird smells. I'm pretty sure the owners were there and if not, whoever was running things was sweet as pie. Just genuinely kind people. We love to see it. We ordered the orange chicken lunch combo (with hot & sour soup), the Vietnamese egg roll vermicelli bowl, and crab rangoons. Portions were solid. We love a plate that doesn't look like it's on a diet. The vermicelli bowl was delicious. Super fresh, flavorful, filling, balanced. I'd order that again without hesitation. Thank you chef! The hot & sour soup was good. Yes, a little thicker than I personally prefer... but that's the assignment with hot & sour soup right? Flavor-wise, it showed up and did what it needed to do. Now the orange chicken... it wasn't bad. Just not memorable. It was giving, "I tried." And it wasn't hot-just warm. Probably wouldn't order that again. BUT BABYYYYY them crab rangoons?? I'd stand outside in the rain for a plate you hear me?! Crispy, creamy, so much flavor! Not your average rangoons. Of all the places I've had them, they have done them the best!! I will absolutely be back just to order four or five plates with zero shame. So service... The owners again were 10/10 kind and welcoming. Our waitress wasn't rude, or nothing she was... just there. Very orange chicken energy. Like she clocked in and said, "I'm here to pay my rent." No warmth, no welcome vibe. That knocked it down a bit because better service would've easily pushed this to four stars. But from one waitress to another -- I'll give her a little grace. Although the space is small, it has plenty of charm. The staff was friendly and service was fast. There's a good variety of options on the menu. We started with drinks and loved their fresh lemonade--it's served with sugar, fresh lemon juice, and a bottle of Topo Chico mineral water that you mix yourself. It was different, refreshing, and absolutely worth trying. We got wings for an appetizer. They were crispy and larger than expected. The sauce was buffalo-based with a unique sweetness that wasn't overpowering. The hot and sour soup was very flavorful--better than most places. We also tried the egg noodle and wonton soup, which came in a large portion, was well seasoned, and had wontons that weren't soggy. The kung pao chicken was well seasoned and came with an eggroll; I paired it with white rice. Everything had a great balance of flavors. The real star of the meal, though, was the fried rice. I hadn't been here in years because my experience was mediocre in the past. I recently saw a post on Houston Heights Foodies, so I decided to give them another try. I got the chili lemongrass tofu lunch special for $10.75. It was filling, but I'd honestly prefer to pay more at another place for more intense flavors. The person reviewed the basil beef. Perhaps that would have been a better choice. If you are wanting to get full for a low cost, then this place would work. If your palate is more refined, you might want to choose another place. I've been to Heights Asian Cafe many times and tried a variety of dishes. My favorites are the Beef Sesame, Wonton Soup and Chicken Lettuce Wrap--they suit my taste perfectly. The staff here are incredibly sweet and welcoming, which makes every visit even more enjoyable. Everything, from the utensils to the drinking glasses, is always very clean and well-maintained. Would not return and don't recommend. Long story short, there was a baby caterpillar on my side of green beans which for one I thought the green beans would be sautéed or have seasoning on them but instead they were just blanched unseasoned green beans. With my luck, the one green beans I bit was the one with caterpillar on it and I understand that it's a fresh vegetable and it's a possibility for these things to happen but it's still unsanitary and shows me that they don't wash their produce thoroughly. As for the kids house lomein, while it was a large portion, there was no veggies in it and the meat did not taste good in it and had a sour taste. The lomein needed veggies in it for some flavor. The dumplings were just okay, nothing spectacular. The vegetable egg rolls are probably the only thing I can say tasted good and worth getting. Came in on a weekday afternoon. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken with a side of Egg Drop Soup. The service was crazy fast, probably due to it being pretty slow. The soup came out quickly, with the chicken not being not long after. The soup was good, and was very similar of another place I've been to. The chicken was great, the sauce having an amazing blend and the portion size being crazy good. The server was very polite and welcoming. The cost was a bit higher than what I was expecting, but for what I got it wasn't bad. I will note, despite the gated exterior, I did feel uncomfortable when initially getting out of my car. Lots of theft warning signs and some strange folks outside. But it was smooth sailing once inside. Not really something that the restaurant can control, but something to keep in mind. We love this place! We order and pickup frequently and it's very quick and easy process. I order on doordash and note they use their own delivery drivers so you can't contact them directly on doordash. They have access to your number though and they call when they're here. Give a bit longer than estimated doordash expected time, but I can't be mad because I believe everything is made fresh. The food is always warm when it's time to be picked up. Love the food, love the portions, love the service. They're tiers above Panda Express but note it's not like authentic Bellaire food. We've only ever tried the rice dishes and no complaints. Still a 3 star. I have been getting more delivery from here more frequently in the last 2 years with remote work and it's a hit or miss. This last visit was a bit disappointing, ordered pho and kids chicken lo mein. With tax, delivery and tip approx $30. Delivery came before scheduled time. Win. The pho comes in a bowl like container. So after prepping, I poured some of the soup inside the bowl. Luckily I held some soup in reserve bc the soup started leaking out of the bottom. Quickly transferred to a bowl, cleaned the countertop and inspected the bowl. Hole. It wasn't big but was on the side by the bottom. So make sure you check the bottom and sides of the bowl. Thumbs down. Taste was ok. The beef broth wasn't as hearty. Plenty of meatballs (halved) so it looks like a lot and the fixings (bean sprouts, mint, peppers, lime) were fresh. The kids lo mein is either filled nicely portion wise or not. Today was not. For $6.50, the portion was not worth it (small rectangular container) and portion was just enough to fill the base part. Disappointing. I'm not going to say I will stop ordering bc honestly they are easy and close and the food is decent enough. Their lunch special is a good bargain (rice, entree, soup, veg egg roll). I prefer the hot and sour soup but the last few times it has been salty so I switched to the egg drop soup. The extra charge for wonton soup sub (+$2.95) is unreasonable. (IMO) Keep supporting local. read more

Love this place and they haven't changed unless you count the plexiglass dividers COVID brought in to play. The orange beef is spectacular. Thin, crispy pieces of tender beef, no fat to be found. The hot and sour soup option on their lunch special is a perfect compliment to the sweet of the orange beef with flecks of black pepper and just the right amount of zip. Try their fresh lemonade too, not the pink. It is brought to your table in two parts a glass of ice with freshly squeezed lemon juice and coarse sugar and a bottle of topo chico mineral water. We placed a DoorDash order and we aren't sure if something happened to the DoorDash person that accepted it or what but someone from the restaurant delivered the food to us themselves.
