BTW the heirloom tomatoes that we were refused the $5 reward were mushy and turning which is why I picked a half rip one. Better prices and service and fresh produce elsewhere. 3-1-26 I received the attached email from Heinen's. A similar offer message also appears on the bottom of receipt #1. "Thank you for being a Tasteful Rewards member. We are thankful you continue to choose Heinen's. Enjoy this reward on us! Free Tomatoes Any bulk or packaged variety. Includes organic when available. Save up to $5 off per household. Must redeem in a single purchase. In-store only. Expires 03/31/26" I chose an heirloom tomato that weighed close to one pound ($4.99 a pound). Completed our shopping and checked out. When the male cashier asked for payment at the final tally I questioned him why the $5 off had not been applied. He said something about if this was organic and why it did not apply. I asked him to double check and showed him our email from Heinen's and rather than calling for a manager or supervisor he pointed to his screen and insisted the heirloom tomato was not covered. So I told him to wait as me and another employee returned back to produce and I picked out some other tomatoes. Returned to the register and found out that this cashier had charged my wife for the remaining produce less the tomato. He had left and closed his register. Reference attached receipt #1. Went to customer service and complained to the male employee. Just got an OK and he turned his back to us. Checked out and paid for the tomatoes. Complained to the female cashier. Nope, no supervisor or manager ether. Have a good day! Reference attached receipt #2. Reviewing receipt #1 shows there is absolutely no record of the heirloom tomato ever being entered on the register. Mind you, that cashier was already asking me for cash or credit card. Would not any revisions on the receipt for errors or omissions have required a manager or supervisor's approval code and would not there have been a record on the receipt, especially since everything had been tallied? Not so here. ========================================= MESSAGE: I appreciate the customer bringing this to our attention. I apologize for the associate not taking the time to better understand the issue as well as being incorrect in not providing the $5.00 off. It seems as if the$5.00 was credited while the customer and another associate were trying to understand about organic tomatoes being included or not. We are capable of doing better and we will try to learn from this customer's experience. Again, I apologize for the confusion and the initial mistake being made. Heinen's Brecksville offers an elevated shopping experience. Even more so than other local Heinen's location in my experience. I stopped in mid-week to grab some of my quirky essentials (bananas, avocados, juice, and Icelandic yogurt). It was my first experience at this location, and I was pleasantly surprised. One of the first things you notice when you walk in is their flower selection with gorgeous in-season flowers. On this visit, they looked especially fresh. The bakery at Heinen's is another highlight. Lots of decadent pastries and tortes with fruit. The store also had new products such as Amabie beverages (with seasonal Sakura)! New My only surprise is that Heinen's did not have a wide assortment of plant-based/vegan cheese that my friend wanted to buy on our visit. They only had three kinds compared to a huge assortment of regular cheese. It was a bummer! The service was cordial, and checkout quick. Few things to consider while visiting this location. Entrance to the plaza is a bit complicated to find, follow your GPS. The store has two entrances, remember where you parked for a quicker visit. More importantly, don't sleep on Heinen's events. Like this grocery store for the very unique food items one can purchase. Love the produce and meat sections as well as the bakery at this location. Heinen's is a local chain to the Cleveland area. When I purchase items from Heinen's, I know they will be fresh. The store has top-notch customer service. I was asked a couple of times by employees if I was finding everything I needed or if I needed any assistance. After checking out, one can drive-up to have their groceries loaded into their vehicles. It's a bit of a drive for me to get to any Heinen's but worth it. I usually combine a Heinen's trip with other errands in the area. All the employees are nice and helpful here. The store is also doing an excellent job of following COVID safety guidelines. read more

Good selection. Could do more to reduce plastic bag waste. I went through the 12-items or less line without bringing my own bag (oops). I should have been more attentive but realized that by the end of ringing up my items that the checker had spread my small purchase out over three plastic bags. I asked them to pause and just use the two- honestly it could have been just one bag. I adore Heinen's, plain and simple. Their sushi is top notch. My fave is the Sambal combo... & if they don't have any made when you get there - they will make it to order, which I love and appreciate! They have sales on vitamins/minerals. Score! I can get my folic acid/B12, fish oil, and selenium on the cheap, cheap - I'm in. What seems like every other week, Smart Water is on sale for like a $1 per bottle. I like to stock up. They offer a wide assortment of bulk nuts and candies near the produce section. Most importantly, they have bulk unroasted, unsalted sunflower seeds - Dr. Oz would be proud. While definitely over priced (around $7 bucks for a quart sized container) Heinen's offers precut fruit (like berries, sometimes a mix of kiwi, cantaloupe, and other melons, and sometimes pineapple). It's my lunch go-to when I'm in a rush and not up to carving my own cantaloupe in the break room. I love that they carry the "Food Should Taste Good" brand, along with a number of other Organic choices like Green & Black's Extra Dark Chocolate (antioxidants - hello!), and a variety of vegan and gluten free options. The meat department has a superb selection going on and I'm often found perusing the massive wine selection available right next door to it. (PS - a must try is their Two Brothers brand Teriyaki sauce, it's delicious.) In addition, the salad bar is perfect and always stocked fresh with delicious lettuces and veggies. At the end of the salad bar, there is an assortment of hummus dips - mmmm, Sabra Garlic hummus! This Heinen's also has a nice cafeteria-like food court area, but I can't comment since I've never actually tried it out. It always smells divine though. And! This is also where you can find single serving beverages like orange creme soda in glass bottles and cans of zero calorie iced tea sweetened with stevia. They will NOT let you leave with a cart, or even a basket for that matter... which I feel weird about - so I constantly look like a pack mule running out of the place with all my bags instead of pulling up my car for them to load it. Idk - it makes me feel lazy if I don't carry my own stuff. Oh! And in closing, Heinen's floral department is great and always has an assortment of gifting potters (like orchids) that I want to buy for myself. Definitely an A+ in all departments. read more

Their staff are always knowledgeable and helpful. When I suggest Heinens the response I get from people who don't shop there is that They are pricey. My mind immediately goes to "Compared to what?" I have been going to Heinens for over 10 years and it was the first grocery store I visited when moving. Not going to lie I think it was a big reason we liked the area as food is very important to our family. The selection is always fresh and the employees are always willing to help you out. When they asked voters if they should change the zoning to put a Heinen's in the middle of Brecksville, I was against it. Another supermarket for a town like this? The slug politicians in Broadview Heights were willing to sell their offspring into slavery to get the store. What the hell? Put it there. Brecksville voted. The ballot initiative passed, and the Heinen's soon followed. I was wrong about this store. It's great. It is so much better than a regular supermarket like Giant Eagle. It is run by these two brothers ( I know this because the store brand is 'two brothers') and they aren't just looking to take your money. Case in point: I recently went there to get bratwurst. They don't sell it. Not Johnsonville, not Bob Evan's. None. I asked about it and the guy says, "here, try this turkey bratwurst. It tastes as good and isn't loaded with fat." Huh? Turkey bratwurst? Are you - - - - kidding me? I was a little pissed. I just wanted some blow-up the grill greasy bratwurst. Heinen's said no. I bought the turkey bratwurst because I was too lazy to go across the street to the seedy Giant Eagle that replaced half of its produce department with a wine-in-the-box department. Turkey bratwurst can't be as bad as it sounds, right? The Heinen's people were right. It really did taste the same....which isn't true for ANY other processed turkey product on the face of the earth. Heinen's is looking out for you all the time. If you go to the produce department, they really push you to buy locally grown stuff. It isn't greentalk, they really want you to buy the stuff from Szalay's instead of from California. If you go to the deli case and ask for some cheap nasty deli ham, they say okay, but the Heinen's Own brand ham that they roast in the back room is on sale and they can slice it just as thin. Ditto the turkey and roast beef. If you go into the wine section, the guy who is in charge won't try to sell the 26$ California because he's got something even better from Washington State that's on sale. The beer department is a little over the top with the funky expensive stuff but they don't even sell the cheap-for-drunks brands that come in the eighty packs for $12.99. They try to sell the Great Lakes Brewery stuff instead of the quarts of malt liquor. The bakery is good but the baked bread isn't great. Maybe I'm just not used to the healthy stuff. The cakes (like you'd get for a party) are really good and the subs they have up front are always top-notch. There is nothing I can complain about at this place and I really tried. Honest. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. This is my grocery. Everyone is so helpful, if you need something, they will find it. Hate grocery shopping? Go to the beer tap where they have four beers and several wines. A sample is 25 cents and a whole cup is $3 and then start your grocery shopping festivities. Now my husband wants to come grocery shopping with me! Their flower department! It's amazing for cut flowers and potted plants. Way better than the flower shop by my house. Nice wide aisles. One way parking lanes make parking much simpler and they hold onto your groceries for you (and give you a number) then you pull up and they load them all in. I should've provided this update sooner, but here goes: I sent the basic text of my original review to Heinen's corporate and received an almost immediate reply from their local store manager who assured me that he would deal with this problem. And you know what? He did. I've gone there numerous times since and never EVER had to wait at the panini counter again. There's always someone there, bang on task and ready to go. Unfortunately, it appears that they way they PAID for this new person was....by removing the cashier who worked at the prepared foods counter most of the time, since now there's often a requirement to go to the regular checkout registers. And that sucks, because I just asked them to heat my panini and now I'm going to stand in line with all the weekday grandma grocery shoppers and Brecksville trophy wives while my food grows cold again. Great store. Fantastic selection, friendly service. Prepared foods are ok. The sushi is pretty good. The bakery is awesome and anything heinen's brand is better than other brands without exception. Try their dry roasted peanuts! They also have my favorite coffee from a roaster in Kent. It's a bit more expensive than other grocery stores, but it is absolutely worth the cost. I've never had an item here I've regretted buying. That said the loading service is a little weird, but you get used to it. read more

First of all, I LOVE going into new grocery stores! Like a kid on candy crack and my Husband likes to chaperone me on my first trip in. After searching the grocery reviews on Yelp, I picked out Heiman's to go to first. It's a beautiful store! Prices were about average with good sales. They had a good selection of products, but not enough to ring my bells. Nice wine and beer selections. I was slightly disappointed by the meat department, choices and prices. Waited at the Seafood counter to buy some beautiful looking salmon they had, but nobody came to help, so I walked on. The cashier was very friendly, but my husband ended up bagging up our groceries. Overall it was a decent experience, but I'm still searching for "The One" to call my own in this area. read more

I will not be eating here again. After perusing their cafe options for things that were gluten-free and soy-free, I discovered I couldn't eat any of their prepared meats. Fantastic. I ended up ordering a bunless-burger from the grill. However, my medium-well burger came out medium-rare. Borderline rare. I should have taken it back, but I hate the idea of creating food waste because someone was bad at preparing it. I was very surprised they added wheat to so many of their food choices. Oh Heinen's. I love you. They have a fantastic salad bar and a nice selection of prepared or mostly prepared meals. I love that if I'm in a time crunch, I can pick up a good meal with sides and pop it in the oven. I tend to do this once a week. It's tasty, they have healthier options, and it's easy. The fish selection isn't as good as the West Side Market, but on a Tuesday afternoon the WSM isn't really an option. Again, good cheese selection - when WSM isn't an option. I love that they often have a small basket in the cheese area of slivers for under $3 (most that I get are around $1.50). It's not a huge selection - typically 4-7 varieties - but nice to try out something new. I appreciate that they are getting better about carrying local produce and local brands. The coffee aisle is fantastic - nice selection from Erie Island and a few others. They could have a better tea selection, but I'm a huge snob there and most of what touches my lips is from loose tea. Most of the employees are very helpful - some overly so. And some are so cheerful that I want to ask for a sip of what they're drinking. Speaking of drinking, cheers to Heinen's alcohol selection. you can buy single beers as well as a good selection of other beers. The wine selection is also really wonderful - the guy that is usually there has perfect suggestions and pays attention to price point. The Eastern Block-er in me appreciates the ever-present (and stocked!) Baltika selection. They also have a growing (slowly) selection of Heinen's brand cleaning products, eco-friendly of course. I buy the dish soap when it's on sale, and it works well. There are little touches that make it clear Heinen's is a bit more high end - if you have more than a handful of groceries, just park your cart up front, they'll hand you a tag, and then bring your cart out to you. no need to get out of your car when they put it in your trunk. I did deduct points for the parking lot - every Heinen's parking lot seems to be full of drivers who would prefer to hit a human than anything else. Also, some things seem to slightly more expensive than other groceries, but nothing drastic - organic is going to be more expensive no matter where you go. read more

Heinen's is amazing, plain and simple. It's clean inside and they have everything. Tons of pre-cooked gourmet food for purchase? Check. Fresh sushi made on site every day? Check. A full grill and daily specials that are affordable? Check. Oh, and I almost forgot. If you buy a bottle of wine, or beer, or whatever alcoholic beverage you prefer, you are allowed to sit and drink it in Heinens. We bought a special and some sushi, matched a wine, then had it opened and sat in the cafe for a while eating and drinking. Yes, that really happened, promise. I shop here frequently and in addition to the superior produce, meats, and cheeses, the service provided cannot be matched by any other grocery store. When you ask someone about where a product is located, they walk you to it. Every time. Items that may leak are rubberbanded or put into another bag to prevent a mess in your car or when you get home. And everyone is very friendly. I find everyone from the check out clerks to baggers to those in the kitchen to always have provided terrific above and beyond customer service. I work in the plaza so I am there at least 4 days a week. I also think they are much cheaper than Giant Eagle, great selection of items, much locally sourced and especially fresh, organic and locally made items. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Heinen's!! read more

I simply love this grocery store. I can find a variety of wonderful items, fresh produce, great wine and much more. The ready made foods are awesome and the whole atmosphere is great. I never feel rushed and appreciate the uncluttered, wider aisles. Too bad other grocer stores don't follow the same philosophy. Their bakery is wonderful as well. My favorites!! p.s. one of the few places that sells Newman's Dog Food for our mutts. We love this place, it is clean, crisp, friendly and what a grocery store should be. We have lived in Brecksville/Independence for 55 years. We were always pinching pennies so we never shopped at Heinens. I am now handicapped and have started using a home delivery service that shops at Heinens. I will say, that their artisan rye bread, chicken noodle soup and tuna salad are all perfection. I love their Heinen brand products. They are definitely several cuts above their competitors and I look forward to discovering more of their wonderfully prepared foods. read more

I asked an employee where the fresh ground peanut butter was. He was very friendly and explained that he was new and didn't know, but immediately directed me to his manager. The manager was very short and rude. He directed me to the regular peanut butter section. When I tried to explain that the regular peanut butter was not what I wanted, he interrupted me on multiple occasions and he was very difficult to deal with. I just left the store and didn't buy anything. I would go back to this Heinen's but would not recommend asking for help. read more

I visited the Brecksville Heinen's this morning at approximately 8:45 am. I stopped at the salad bar to to get some items for my lunch, and although the salad bar was completely set up, there were NO tongs out to get items out of the containers. The salad bar does not open until 9am. As I proceeded through the store, to do other shopping, I saw that they were just starting to set up the fish stand. The ice was in the case, but only a couple of pieces of fish were out. The same was true of the deli counter. Now it seems to me that if the store opens at 8am, then the whole store should be open and ready to serve the customers. Maybe the employees need to get to work a little earlier to get all the prep work done before the store opens and the customers arrive. I shop at this store all the time and am very happy, most of the time, with the people and the service, but this is an on going problem and it's a little irritating. Wonderful atmosphere to shop in. The food made in-store is usually fantastic. Great staff. On the bad side... I avoid buying ground meat or any meat that comes from their main processing off site production location. It never seems very fresh & will usually go bad very quickly. I have gotten ground meat that was red on the outside & brown & smelly on the inside... rotten the same day it was bought. When I have returned the product I'm told that their meat comes from the satellite location & they do not do things like pump air into the meat or use hormones & such.. I call BS.. ground meat should not be brown & smell....when I buy ground meat from Marc's on Broadview Rd. (Much better priced & the meat smells amazing & I swear I've had it last over 7-10 days with-out turning) I think they need to process their meat in store. It's the only way to assure what your buying is fresh especially at the price their charging for it...... read more
