Good old fashioned diner. Met an old friend and enjoyed one of her favorite spots. The meals were very inexpensive. I had fish... Couldn't even finish it, although it was delicious. Homefries were tasty and freshly made by hand... No frozen potatoes here!! The wait staff was pleasant and knew my friend... Added to the friendly diner feel. New customers must come in and sit at a table full of someones germ filled dishes and wait for it to be cleaned. We sat a group of 3 prople, a couple of 2, and a group of 6 walk out after standing waiting for someone to say hello to them. The service from the waitress was great, but she had the ENTIRE room, while the other waitress had the bar--NO BUSBOYS there, but you could see them walking around in the kitchen area. POOR way to run a restaurant--We try to eat there twice a week because like supporting local business, and the prices are good, but too much work for a single waitress to do everything, and customers were sitting talking about sitting with trash where they are about to eat. Decor/service- Classic diner with a smaller menu. It has plenty of seating and they seemed to have added on at some point. Service can be on the slow side for a diner. Very happy with Heisey's. Great food and prices. Staff is very friendly and really seamed to like their job evidence by the smiles on their faces. The front of the dinner is a retro area of the 1970 diners booths and bar area, there is a dining room area to use but we did not use it, and there is a bar attached but once again we did not use it. read more

We made this stop for an early dinner and were happy with our visit. The inside is kind of narrow, but easy to move around. We were seated upon entering and many other tables were open as well. I really like the interior design which is appealing to look at. The menu had a lot to offer, and it's awesome to see the variety they had. I ordered a Double Cheeseburger cooked medium rare, which was pretty good for a dining style. It had a decent amount of flavor, but not so juicy compared to others I've had. The proportion isn't that big, which still left me kind of full. Overall, a great diner to visit. read more

Came for breakfast with some coworkers. They did the biscuits and gravy, one other person got the hungry man breakfast, I got the two eggs with onion, peppers, and scallop potatoes, and two sides of bacon. The bacon and apple juice were the highlight of this excursion. The two who got the biscuits and gravy weren't impressed. My mixed eggs and potatoes with onion and pepper plate was extremely bland. Luckily you can douse the plate with Texas Pete hot sauce, ketchup, salt, and pepper to bring it up to par. The prices are decent. Very fast service. What's an omelette with home fries with onions with toast, iced tea, and water = $9.08. Pretty cheap. The food was pretty bland. If it wasn't for the onions, the home fries had no flavor. It's probably packed because it's cheap. They were better options in the area. read more

We sat in a small room no one came then was told we where the blue room? So got up again to another. Yes!!!! Finally we were waited on. This is why I gave it a poor rating. Gee -My Mom and I went to Heiseys on Thursday early evening. It was banging / like very full . I will not go there at that time again; we couldnt find a seat except in the bar and it was very busy and loud! We got there at 4 and we waited an hour to be waited on . I wouldve left but Mom and I were hungry. It wouldnt have been so bad but they only had 2 servers and a little help from the Bar maid. He needs more help !!! I decided to have my dinner here on a recent Saturday night. Arrived shortly after 630 pm and came through the back dining room, through the kitchen and down a hallway, ending up inside the actual diner. This is just where I wanted to be. Was told to take any place that was clear of dirty dishes. Thought I saw an empty booth in the far corner but it was full of dirty dishes. As I was walking around, looking for an empty table or booth, other customers were coming in and specifically told to sit at any place that was clear of dirty dishes. I decided to take a seat at a small table, next to a full booth, close to the door that leads one into a section of booths and eventually into the back dining room. My server dropped off a menu and took my drink order. I looked over the menu and just like my visit here many years ago, I decided on a full dinner, which included soup, salad, entree, 2 sides and a dessert. I chose a cup of chili, tossed salad with 1,000 isle dressing, half a fried chicken, macaroni salad, potato cakes and a piece of apple pie for dessert. The chili was almost all beans and tasteless. The salad was from a bag and the dressing tasted commercial. The fried chicken was full of disgusting bloody veins, sections of chewy masses of questionable chicken and was so tiny in size, that it was approximately the size of a full chicken breast at a fast food restaurant?? I could go on and tell you like it is but I'll talk about the good here. The macaroni salad was served in a monkey dish and was not even half full. It was tasty and probably made on premise? The potato cakes were just under seared mash potatoes that were formed into " cakes." The apple pie filling was delicious but the crust was underbaked and looked very pale. 2 stars for the food and one additional star for the wonderful service which bumps my 2 star review up to 3 stars. I will definitely not be returning here but this diner has great potential but I don't see anything changing for the good. If they take note and just did one change, I would suggest having the entire place deep steam cleaned to eliminate the nasty urinal stench that seems to be deeply embedded throughout, but especially noticeable in the actual diner. read more

The dinner was so so and they do not even use real gravy but our issue was beyond the mediocre food. Our waitress hates kids and was rude as could be wouldn't even smile at us but would smile and talk kindly to every other table. We had suspected it was due to 2 children being in tow but seeing another review I'm sure it was the same waitress and same experience we had. She was short with us seemed irritated that she even had to wait on us the entire time we were there. She is older with hair that is dyed dark. If She hates kids so much that she is crappy to her paying customers who have them maybe she should work in a bar somewhere. We will never be back we can go to Pine Grove diner or Esthers next time. read more

But when you are sat down and waited almost 20 minutes then they sit a table behind you and go to take their drink order without even saying a word to you is utter bullshit . Food was good (except for the lack of chicken in the chicken corn soup), and the price seemed reasonable. This was the first diner we've been to that does not serve breakfast all day. They do have some breakfast items you can get after 11am, like eggs, pancakes, and home fries, so why not just serve everything else? We sat right outside their kitchen/staff area, so it was pretty loud, and you could hear their conversations. Nothing makes you want to eat at a place more when you hear a waitress say they're going to spit in this b#$&*'s food. I understand that it's probably like this in every restaurant and dealing with the public, but maybe it's best not to say these things when you have customers within earshot. read more

Interesting diner for locals I must say. Diner entrance was your typical look but then it also had a dining side and bar area. Menu had the typical specials. I stuck with the chicken strips and fries, while my coworkers got pork chops, grilled chicken, cheese omelet. Overall, food was blah, service was great. Always stop here when traveling north out of Lancaster county and if it is time to eat. Portions are always huge, food is steaming hot and menu is varied. I do think they have the best breakfast in central Pennsylvania. Do yourself a favor, if you are traveling by here stop by. Even if it is for a piece of our and coffee. One last comment.
