    Western omelette
    Eric O.

Breakfast I ordered a Western omelette, with a side of sliced tomatoes, no toast, and order of sausage. I also asked for a glass of ice water with lemon. I received coffee, no lemon with my water. My omelette came it came with hashbrowns, I did not get my tomatoes. I had finished my meal before my waitress ever came back so I did not get a refill on my coffee, and the water cup was small, it was also empty. Never offered a refill. Oh, also when I ordered , we discussed no hash browns. I did finally wave my coffee cup at her to get a coffee refill. Let me add it wasn't busy in here so the service is lacking . Food was good , nothing out of the ordinary.

A quiet Monday evening dinner at Capital Diner, which offers an extensive menu of American staple foods with daily specials and is conveniently located right off the Harrisburg East PA turnpike exit. I bypassed the daily special choices and opted for the Taco Salad (I love it when the salad is in a taco shell; the presentation alone is to be admired) My beverage of choice - an herbal tea with honey. Our server, Julie, provided the right amount of attention and check-ins. When one thinks of a diner, Capital Diner reflects that image outside with the stainless steel siding and inside with mostly affordable food choices.

Typical diner fare. Decent breakfast for a reasonable price. I stopped here here a couple times when I wanted a hearty breakfast. The potatoes come out cold in the center sometimes, like they're put on the griddle for a minute then just folded rather than flipped; could use a flip to crisp them all up and heat them all to the center. Omlette was good, and the french toast was tasty. Way more food than I could eat in a single sitting.

I had just rolled into town and was starving, so I made a late stop here around 9:42 PM. They were close to closing, so it was takeout only--but I'm grateful they still welcomed me in and whipped up a meal. The place looked cozy with a warm ambiance--I would've loved to dine in if I had arrived earlier. Now to the food: the Chicken Stroganoff was absolutely delicious, and the generous portion easily stretched into two meals. Bonus points for the potato soup--it was rich, comforting, and hit the spot. All in all, a seriously impressive takeout experience. Can't wait to come back earlier next time and soak in the full dine-in vibe.

Classic diner with the best breakfast around best for any time of day! They know how to make those homefries.

But this place is much more than beer, and I can't recommend it enough. First, there is a bar completely separate from the eating area, so you can choose what experience you want. Second, I've known that all their beers are top notch, which is why I wanted to come here. I'm not an IPA guy, but the black IPA is some top notch stuff that anyone can appreciate. Not super hoppy, really well balanced. Blonde stout is another superb creation, Lancaster gets some depth into it that many other breweries can't manage. Third, if you want food, they learned from the Food Network and limited their menu to just a few choices, all excellently prepared. I ordered the Angry Mac with gator meat. It had excellent flavor, they made it spicier like I asked, and unlike most places they provided plenty of meat. Great quantity and great taste that I wasn't expecting. I tasted my friend's polenta and it was perfectly balanced with some cheese, not too salty. I could eat that for days. Finally, Eva, our waitress? Wonderful. My friend and I were weighing dessert, we wanted a brownie but not the whole hot fudge brownie sundae. Eva made it work and even split it between heated and cold. What a great server. Props to Eva! To get this quality of food, this quality of beer, this quality of service, and this quality of ambiance all in one? No wonder my friend was willing to go two days in a row. I need a Lancaster Brewing in my town.

We are glad we finally did. 1762 was formerly known as The Warwick Hotel, and that's the prominent markings you'll see from the street. It is a really excellent spot on the square in Hummelstown with cozy charm and exceptional service. My companion was initially skeptical when she saw wine on tap but immediately changed her mind when she saw the offerings--good quality and reasonable price point. The beer selection is also good. Not a huge number of beers but well-selected. Although we didn't have a full meal we did enjoy the sausage and honey appetizer, which was outrageously tasty with sausage from a local butcher in Hershey. Service was efficient and friendly, especially considering the bar (where we sat) was hopping. We also met the owner, Dave, who rolled up his sleeves to assist at the bar while also personally greeting customers. Our biggest regret is that we waited so long to finally visit...and we'll definitely be back soon.

The first time I cut into it was rare at best. Completely red inside and blood all over the plate. Sent it back and they sent the same steak back out and it was medium rare at best. I ate around the edges. They did comp the meal which was appreciated. We will give them another shot due to the positive appetizers and service

It's fun, relaxed, and the kind of place you can easily lose track of time in. What really stood out early on was the service. Our waitress was not only attentive, but genuinely helpful--honest, informative, and confident in her recommendations. Since there's no drink menu, she guided us toward what they do best, including the espresso martini. I appreciated the direction... but the drink itself didn't quite match the expectation. I was hoping for something silky, rich, and indulgent--almost dessert-like--but it landed closer to a pre-mixed version. Not bad, just not memorable. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced, which makes it approachable without sacrificing variety. Now, the highlight--my Black n' Bleu Delmonico, cooked medium. This dish delivered. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the bleu cheese garlic butter added a savory, melt-in-your-mouth richness that made each bite better than the last. It paired beautifully with the soft baked sweet potato--simple, comforting, and exactly what it needed to be. We started with loaded fries, and honestly... dangerously addictive. Crispy, flavorful, and the kind of appetizer you keep reaching for without realizing how much you've eaten. My husband went with the surf and turf--filet mignon and lobster tail. The lobster was a standout: buttery, tender, and cooked just right. The filet, though cooked to his liking, lacked seasoning and depth. It needed more intention--something to bring it to life beyond just butter. Overall, Gilligan's nails what matters most for a place like this--great atmosphere, strong service, and food that has real moments of excellence. It's the kind of spot you go to unwind, catch a game, and enjoy a solid meal in a lively, welcoming setting.

With the next batch, they started giving food to the next table before finishing ours. So the atmosphere was nice, the service was decent, but sadly the food was underwhelming. For this price point I was hoping to get more food on my plate - my lunch was gone within 5 bites and each bite cost multiple dollars.
