Not bad to get gas here. There is a decent amount of space at the gas pumps. We came to Hele on Kapahulu Ave and Williams Street because the other gas station didn't have enough pumps. I remember this gas station used to be Tesoro years ago. Not sure when it changed name. I have lived on the island for quite some time. I usually buy gas on Kapahulu just outside of Waikiki. The prices of gas is about the same compare to other gas stations in Urban Honolulu. Just looking through the tips posted by Chris M. on 4/10/12. It was only few cents more now. I got unleaded gas for $4.58 (10c more on credit card without Kama'aina discount). So, thanks for tracking the prices through time. I didn't interact with employees inside and I didn't have any issues with my transaction. So, I would come back, especially they got cleaner windshield wiper. read more

The gas pumps are 24/7. The doors to the convenience store, come to think of it, are always open as well. There are (2) two cashier check-out stations, so things should go a dash faster then if there was only (1) one, indubitibly. There are multiple gas pumps on left and right side. read more

This is my favorite Hele station! I always have great service here since I pay with cash (since you save an extra 10 cents per gallon all the time!) They have a deal where you save an extra 15 cents per gallon on the weekends and now there is another deal where any day you can save 25 cents by scanning the app! So I've been getting 35 cents off per gallon any day by scanning the app in store and using cash! The cashiers are always very friendly and have taught me how to use the app to save the most money. This Hele is the cheapest on this side of town located along Kapahulu Ave and Williams St. There are many recently upgraded pumps, and it's easy going in and out. Plus, there are window squeegees for you to use that's actually in clear, soapy water, and thick, blue shop towels. The employees do an excellent job in refilling the towels, making sure the water is soapy and filled, and making sure the squeegees are clean. The squeegees always gives my car clean and clear windows and mirrors. Many other places totally neglect this. This Hele also offers a 10-cent discount on gas with cash purchases and a 15-cents discount on the weekends with the Kama'aina Card. I like coming to this particular gas station because it's convenient for me, as well as the prices at this particular gas station tends to be slightly lower than the other Hele gas station outlets. Nothing has changed as far as the convenience store, or the gas pumps.........the only thing that has changed is the name brand. This gas station is sandwiched between the Kapahulu Taco Bell, & my favorite Frrrrrried chicken place - (Popeye's Fried Chicken)...........after filling your tank, you can always make a pit stop next door for some grindz!!! Hele's are everywhere all around the island. Since the island isn't that big, I didn't need to fill gas in my rental car. I kept looking at prices to make sure I got gas for a good price when the time came. About 2 blocks from Waikiki , along Kapahulu Ave., these Hele's had the best prices! Cheapest gas! Went to this gas station to get air for our rental car tires. The air machine only accepted quarters. My boyfriend went inside to buy something promised by the cashier that if he does he can give cash back. After getting rung up with a few snacks the cashier says he cannot give cash back. Tesoro is a gas station and convenience store on Kapahulu Avenue. The gas prices here are cheaper than a few of the gas stations nearby. Though the preference is go to Chevron, this is not a bad option since the gas station lot is spacious and easy to enter and exit from. It is also pretty convenient to Waikiki if you are visiting Hawaii and have rented a car. Location and pricing is what makes this gas station good. read more

Seriously the cheapest gas I've found on this entire island. The gas was $3.14 on Friday when I purchased. I was staying in Hawai'i Kai and we were visiting Tunnels for the day and immediately slammed on breaks when I noticed that gas was $3.14 instead of $3.75 like other places. I was also hungry and needed some food for the beach, so I went inside and smelled that amazing chicken. I purchased a chicken and spam musubi plate. Total cost was a$3.99 and then they also had 1liter bottles of Aquafina water for $1.19, you really can't beat those prices. When it came to my turn, Kevin was so patient and informative as he calmly explained my Kamaaina card was obsolete as they recently upgraded their rewards system and that I needed to be replaced it with a new card. My favorite place to fill up on gas versus the rest. The best time for me to fill up is on the weekends due to their kama'aina deal if you have their card and you pay cash you get 25¢ off if you just have the card and pay with your credit card you get 15¢ off the regular price they have listed that day. Very reasonable and don't worry if you don't have the card but registered it and have a phone number linked to it, type in your phone number and it'll work as well. Lastly if you accumulate enough points you can treat it as cash and can purchase anything in their store from groceries to gas you name it. Took a walk to hele (nomnom) 08/28/22 @10:10 pm bought one item gave a credit card payment cashier on shift swiped my card about 4 times and told me my card was declining I told her there's no way because there's money on it! She kept saying "no can no can!" I asked politely to try again and it went thru then she blamed me that it was being swiped wrong!! Mind you she was the only one in the store so we had to use the service window. Very bad customer service she even gave the person before me a hard time as well just to put gas smh... Next to Costco, this Hele is indeed the cheapest on the island, kind of a "known island secret". Make sure to pay using Cash and make absolutely sure you get the Kamaiana card. It's free and requires no paper signing or anything, but if you're in a hurry you can just have them swipe a card for you if you're just a tourist visiting for the holidays. The card gives you 15 cents off gas during the weekends and weekends only. Great location too - it's located right outside Waikiki and is decently staffed. The folks working inside are pretty friendly (I mean, don't expect 5* service from a gas station, folks). It does have a homeless issue during the night, so do stay on your guard if you want to fill up at night. read more

Apparently Hele celebrated their grand opening yesterday where the old Tesoro was, and they had $1.99/gallon gas. @Julie M. told me about it, so I checked it out today to fill up and bring in their Kama'aina card application that she gave me to turn in. Yesterday she was so impressed because gas was $1.99/gallon, hey pumped for her, and even gave her a little flashlight (the other option was popcorn). There was also a bogo coupon for Pepsi that I could have used...if I drank Pepsi. When I stopped by today, I was pretty confused by the free-for-all traffic in the station. I wasn't sure where to pull in, and cars were facing all directions. I'm not sure if this was house it was in the old station, but man, someone's gonna get into an accident. I had to go inside twice...once to find out how to use my Kama'aina Rewards card (you have to send in the form or go online--they won't take it there), and once to tell them that when I went to fill gas, the pump display told me I had to go inside for "cashier assistance". Once that was taken care of, I got some gas. There was confusion and complaints from the cashier about the system not working, about not being able to make the Pepsi bogo coupon ring up correctly, and she also complained that she didn't know what was going on because she had just "got back". Maybe she was on vacation. The location seems pretty convenient, albeit dangerous (am I just spoiled from the absolutely organized and monitored Costco gas station lines??). There was a good supply of liquor behind the cashier's counter, other food and even sunglasses in the convenience store. Hopefully they'll figure out the pump credit card machine soon. read more

I like this Tesoro for so many reasons. I know it's bad but I normally drive my car down to the fumes and since this is right by my place I can push my car on over if I run out of gas on my way out or home as that's when it usually happens. Anyways enough of my problems. I like this place as I can vacuum my car, wipe my windows down with their squeegee as well as give my car a quick wash down if need be. They have almost everything I need. This place discriminates against non Hawaiian! WTH? Was in town for a vacation and needed to refill the car with gas. This station was recommended by our rental Company (Turo) as a place to refill because they had a vacuum and was close to where the car was to be returned. When I went to swipe my credit card and entered my zip code, I was prevented from pumping gas until I went inside and prepaid because my zip code wasn't in Hawaii! This was for a credit card, not a debit card. Isn't that why we use credit cards ... because they're accepted nationwide? This is completely ridiculous and a blatant form of discrimination. I'm going to complain to the corporate offices of Hele! And I just reviewed my receipt and it looks like they didn't refund the difference between what I prepaid and what I actually spent. This is my favorite gas station on kapahulu. Why? It's always the cheapest!! ANND they are currently having a promotional sale thing where you get 10 whole cents off of every dollar you spend on gas!! It comes out to less than $4!!! Whoopwhoop! That's a big deal for us non Costco card holders! I've been inside a few times. The inside part is brightly lit, clean, relatively large and carries all your finest gas store station amenities: snacks, drinks, ciggies etc. There are two cashiers and I've only ever seen one open, but I never know which one is the open one, and I almost always choose to walk in the door furthest away from the open register. It never occurred to me to review a gas station, but today when I pumped gas I noticed that the handle on the pump nozzle was really clean and new (usually after I pump gas, I douse my hands with sanitizer and then wash with soap at my earliest convenience). Then I noticed that the pumps were all new, modern, and shiny looking. I'll probably go to this station more often now. It was Dec. 30 2017 10:20pm and I needed to put air in the tire and the gas station I usually go to it's free but it was out of order and I didn't have any coins or cash because I don't carry cash cuz I got jumped before so I don't carry cash. Went to the ATM got cash out, went to the register to get $2 in quarters to put air and brotha man got all pissy, huffing and puffing, not throw but I guess tossed the money with attitude. You're more than welcome to watch the security camera, but his attitude was horrible! I can't help i don't carry coins in my car or on me. I enjoy affordable gas and this Hele is the closest gas station in my neighborhood. I like how there are many pumps. You never really have to wait to pump gas even during peak times. Besides gasoline, Hele Gas has a convenience store for you convenience needs. Honestly, I have never been in the convenience store. I'm a pump and go kind of guy so once I'm done, I'm gone. Tesoro's location in Honolulu's restaurant mecca, Kapahulu has become a treasured gas station during these touch economic time. Gas is so cheap here. GAS IS SO CHEAP HERE. That should be my review because it says it all. Tesoro Kapahulu is located right next to Popeye's Chicken near the Kapahulu and Date Street intersection. In addition if you pay for your gas in cash it is EVEN CHEAPER. The price per gallon is almost a full $0.15 cheaper than almost every gas station. However, I think the other gas stations in the area are being forced to compete with Tesoro Kapahulu's prices, so I've noticed a decrease in the area. Tesoro Kapahulu is a rather large gas station and is able to accommodate a good amount of cars at the pump. They also have a nice superette market for your everyday on-the-go needs. Although their prices are not as cheap as Costco gas stations, it sure beats having to wait in that ridiculous line, which wastes so much gas in the first place... As an avid Aloha Gas customer, being that I live within arms reach of two, it is rather uncommon for me to fill up anywhere else, but since gas has become so ridiculous in Hawaii, cheaper options are not only financially smart, but almost essential to saving the every dollars here and there. Luckily, Tesoro gas station provides that luxury. Who knew that cheap gas would ever become a luxury...Oh well, that's the world we live in. But if you need a cheap fill up and don't want to run out of gas waiting in the Costco lines, come down to Kapahulu, you won't regret it and your wallet will be very happy! read more

I periodically come here to get snacks and refreshments after working a long day in the area. Its the perfect location when exiting the kapahulu area because its on the east side of kapahulu ave when heading north to the freeway. So its espcecially hot in this area so I mainly go for icee. I love icee and prefer it over a fountain drink or soda. The icee here is strawberry or cola. I go for the cola and it is always cold and fresh, not like some other locations where their machine is poorly maintained and it comes out liquidy, this tesoro keeps their icee machine cold and thick. I recommne it. But even though they are cold I still prefer 7-11 icee more better. lol read more
