Helen SAVED my hair!! I got keratin with Helen 3-4 weeks ago. My hair was in such bad shape from a bunch of hormonal changes in the last year. I was nervous about it but Helen literally healed my hair. I had called her on a Wednesday and she was able to take me on Saturday. On 3/21/2024, I purchased the following Groupon: "$161 for Keratin Treatment or Brazilian Blowout from Helen Nassib at Nelson J Salon ($350 Value)". I went to Nelson J salon on 4/18/2024 and was asked by Helen Nassib if I wanted a keratin treatment or a Brazilian blowout. I specifically requested a Brazilian blowout which requires the use and techniques of the brand called "Brazilian blowout" (https://www.brazilianblowout.com/). I could not see at all the product that Helen Nassib applied but I could tell it wasn't the original branded Brazilian blowout product as the smell is very strong & distinctive and it was not the same. Her technique was also unusual and different than what should be done typically as well. The results were not the same, nor good at all and I am 100% convinced she did not give me the service I requested and paid for. I have done Brazilian blowouts for over ten years and this was not one for sure. I am so disappointed and had to get the help of a lawyer to resolve this issue with Groupon! read more

I bought a Groupon - she didn't return my call, then asked me to text, asked me for pic, wanted to chanrge $30 more bc slightly longer than should in back. I told her not really fair given I bought the cert already and all tge hair in the front was above shoulder. She then went from having avail on Sat to being fully booked for whenever. I want to point out that this review is only about the work Helen did on me. Helen is an absolutely pleasant and lovely lady. So Helen asked me for a picture of the hair color id like done for guidance. Prior to this hair experience i have had three sessions of balyage so i knew what to expect. However, she told me that the picture i showed her was not balyage, but foil. Fine, i told her that i trusted her and her experience given that shes worked with celebrities like Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson, so i told her to work her magic on me and do as she desired but that i wanted to go lighter. When i was done, i did think the job she did was really nice, and i tipped her well over 45% of the regular price of her services plus what tip to the hair washer guy because i thought the job was well executed and they were really warm to me. When my friends saw me they said that i looked fine from the front but that my hair looked hideous from the back (Helen never showed me the back view- something my old hairstylist always did). Once i took a look i couldn't believe myself! I couldn't believe this was the work of a celebrity hair stylist! The highlights were so blotchy and not subtle like balyage should be at all! My hair looked deep fried and frizzy! I was extremely dissatisfied with the end result and will now have to go look for someone new to repair this. read more

Helen is amazing and very professional. I didn't expect my hair to turn out so beautiful after a keratin treatment with her. My hair was very frizzy and rough and it was difficult to style and wear down. She talked me through the treatment. And told me about her past experiences with hair styling. I was very impressed. The process only took 90 minutes. When I left the salon my hair was incredibly soft and straight. After 4 days I washed my hair with a special kerAtin shampoo and my hair has never looked better in my life. It's very heathy and soft and not frizzy at all. My curls are very beautiful and manageable they reduced in curls but that is exactly what I wanted. I highly recommended Helen for keratin hair treatments! I've never loved my hair so much! I got my hair cut by Helen a few days ago, and I could not be happier. I have been looking for a stylist in LA since moving out into the area, and found Helen on an Amazon Local deal. My hair had a lot of damage on the ends, but I wanted to salvage as much length as possible. Helen was great at communicating through the whole cut, and while it ended up shorter than I was hoping, the cut is so perfect I actually like it more. Helen was very personable and fun to work with, and the deep conditioner she used during my shampoo has left my hair soft and shiny for days. She recommended I consider a keratin treatment, to fully counteract any damage, but I didn't feel pressured at any point to purchase. The salon was clean and comfortable, and located super close to a nice public parking garage that offers 2 hours free. I will definitely be booking with Helen again! read more

I went for Color, Cut and Blow Dry from Groupon 1) I left with My Color so dull and faded , I believe all her hair products are old and expired 2) My hair was burnt, we are talking crunchy straw, from her blow dry 3) My cut was so uneven and I end up with a pig tail . Yes it was very sad to be blotched , thank God for Hats The Salon is shabby and seedy and all the customers are 75-80 years old and all the hairdressers are around 65-75 years old. When you go in with a hairdresser, you go in to achieve a look that will make you feel and look good, but I did not get that with Helen. I went in with a Groupon coupon and Helen said my coupon didn't cover what I wanted, which was simply an all over color. She kept arguing how I was wrong and she was right, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and believed she would do a great job considering I had to pay an additional $100 and didn't get close to what my money was worth. She hurried the process and didn't go through with what I had asked her for, the hair color was nothing to what I had showed her and what we had agreed on. All she did was apply a high-lift to my roots to lighten them and washed my hair shortly after. Nothing was done to balance out the hair color and make it look uniform. My hair is now two different colors: orange on the top and brunette on the bottom when I what we had agreed on was a blonde color. When she began to blow-dry my hair, I asked her what was next and she told me that was it. To say the least, I am very dissatisfied because I paid her what I could have paid somebody else to do exactly what I wanted. She told me to come back to get what I wanted for an additional $150, so all she really did was color my hair to a color that I did not want just to get more money out of me. Also, when I asked her why it would be $100, she gave me an attitude saying that she has rent to pay and that the Groupon doesn't even cover the hair products she used. I pay rent too and I'm a college student, so I understand, but her ethic was poor and the products she used can be found online and are not as expensive as she made them seem, so the Groupon's she has are a trap to make you pay more because she finds a ridiculous reason to charge you more. I was honestly scammed for my money because now my hair looks terrible and I paid too much money for bad service. I do not recommend her work. Unreasonable pricing for terrible quality. 0/0, will never go again. There is WAY better hairdressers out there that are not celebrity hairstylists like her that will actually do what the customer asks for at good pricing and Helen is not one of those. read more

I had a great experience with Helen, she is really nice and professional, the salon is clean and comfortable and really close to public parking (N. Beverly Dr. next to Williams Sonoma) which offers 2 hours for free. My hair is soft, manageable without the need of a blowdryer, and NOT frizzy at all after a Keratin treatment; before, my hair was extremely curly and difficult to style. First I want to start by saying Helen is very nice and was nice enough to take me in last minute. So this review is just about her work. She told me I would not go blonde and I was okay with it. I bought the Groupon for the Balayage and I have seen pictures of how its suppose to look. I did not mind a light brown Balayage color so my expectations where not very high. The process was done very fast and when done it was very ehhh. My hair doesn't look anywhere near a Balayage or even Highlights it's just patches. I have a huge blonde spot in one side she said comb it to the side hum okay. I think maybe she was tired and wanted to go home. I still tipped her because I'm polite and I know we all need money. So she should be more caring with her work and customer satisfaction. We also work hard to make money and treat our self but this was just money thrown away for me. I feel like going to the store and dying my hair black because my hair is so bad. I won't be back to this salon and I won't recommend anyone to come to this salon. Also when paying her we told her about the Groupon price because it had a discount for the day which we screen shot and sent her via text. This girl.. she is as good as it gets. Wonderful energy, beautiful personality. She does amazing work. She did a blonde balayage with mixed foils in my hair which if you know blonde is difficult to work with. However, her work was perfect. She really knows her blonde. Not to mention the other staff in there were nothing but pleasant. A sweet and warm attitude in the staff of a salon, especially in BH, is something I truly cherish. Love these people. This is only my 2nd posting on yelp- but i needed to tell everyone about Helen! Helen is a true find! She has been cutting, coloring and styling my hair for almost 5 years- for the past 3 she has also been doing the keratin treatments on my hair. Having gone thru a terrible straightening process years before (NOT with Helen!), I was scared to try it. Not only was it a success- it made my hair even healthier! I am hooked! My hair has never looked better- she is so knowledgable and is constantly updating the products she uses and they are always top of the line. Several of my friends had started putting in extensions in their hair- so a few weeks ago Helen did it using Great Lengths (the absolute best on the market!). She did an absolutely incredible job! i had a great experience with Helen. she did a cut/balayage/blowdry deal for $110 and i am very pleased with the results. i have received many compliments on my haircut in particular, which is great because i have been looking for a new haircut person for a while now. i told her i wanted layers that were long but still sort of piecey/chunky so that when i curl my hair i end up with curls of different lengths. what i ended up with was exactly what i asked for, and now styling my hair is a piece of cake because a quick run through with my curling iron yields all the different lengths that i wanted without having to spend a lot of time sectioning out my hair a certain way. thanks, helen! read more

Helen was aggressive and sloppy. The haircut ended up being free, and still not worth it. First, she draped me in a dirty smock covered in hair. After two attempts to cut my hair evenly, it is still not straight, nor what I asked for. She spent the majority of the cut trying to sell me highlights by telling me my color is dull. When I noticed how poorly the cut was turning out, she did not want to listen. With scissors in one hand and my hair in the next, she'd defend her mistakes, often blaming them on me; my hair was too short, it's my part, it's what I asked for, I didn't show her a picture... I understand she's not a magician, but I do expect the cut to be symmetrical. Beyond the arguing and the sloppy work, the most disturbing part of the experience came as I was trying to leave. I guess she thought I was going to steel the robe they had me change into, because when I got up to go get changed, she yanked the sleeve and told me to take it off.
