Save your money! The makeovers are a joke overdone and unhygienic (concerning!). Owner was rude, which doesn't leave a customer wanting to return. Once was more than enough! Helen, if you want to keep your business open, get off your high horse and treat your clients better. They are paying for services from your establishment, so you should show you value and appreciate them (or you WILL lose them). There are lots of good (well reviewed) beauty spots around to choose from, but this isn't one of them. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

My sister went here for to try out bridal hair and makeup and boy are we glad we did NOT sign a contract to have them do hair and makeup for her wedding. Not only were the ladies pushy and resistant to agree to come out to the wedding location for her wedding day (even though it would mean more money for them), they used unsanitary practices like using dirty hair brushes that had obviously just been used on others without cleaning and using makeup and makeup brushes that had obviously been used on others without cleaning which is a HUGE no-no. What a disaster! I purchased a Groupon, Facial + Makeover + Makeup tips. Price was worth the amazing facial. However, the makeover lady (and owner, I assume) was rude about other staff and pushing the expensive line of product with an overall condescending attitude. With a huge generation gap, she used ridiculous colors on me and slammed my driver's license picture as I was checking out. She was very proud but I looked 20 lbs heavier, 20 years older and just like my grandmother. Since I don't have a time machine to go back to the 80's, it was a massive waste of time and money! My sister's Brazilian blowout was amazing and obviously administered by someone else who has style and much younger. But, since the owner had nothing nice to say about her behind her back, I doubt she will be there much longer. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! I wanted to have my makeup done for a special event, so I decided to visit the salon and ask some questions. When I walked in, there was a women sitting with her back to the door, she didn't bother to acknowledge me. When I did get her attention and explained why I was there, she rolled her eyes and told me 'Helen' was their makeup person and she was on her way to the salon. I decided to wait, which seemed like a bad idea. It turned out to be a huge waste of time! I finally met Helen, who apparently thinks she's discovered the 'fountain of youth' judging by all the pictures of herself in the salon. We discussed the makeup process and I wanted to match my face to the rest of my body, bc I tan but I don't tan my face. She went on to explained how she mixes foundation together to achieve the look like she had come up it all by herself. I wanted to come the next day to do a practice run for lashes, bc I had never had them before. I made the appointment for 11 am. I was there at 11, but no Helen. When I walked in the sign on the door said 'closed', but the door was open. I stood at the counter and no one acknowledged me. Finally I said 'excuse me' one of the women turned and looked at me as if she was surprised to see me there. ofcourse, Helen wasnt there. She told me she would 'Page' her. Apparently, its 1993 in Hello Gorgeous. It was good that Helen wasn't there, it gave me time to read all the bad reviews on Yelp. At 6 minutes after 11 she shows up and in no hurry at all. She did, however, take on the difficult task of turning the sign around to 'open'. Helen: Good morning. Me: Did I have an appointment at 11? Helen: Yes. Me: Then your late. Helen: I was caught in traffic. Me: if I was late, I'm sure you wouldn't be pleased. Helen: Lots of my clients are late. Do you still want the lashes? Against my better judgment I allowed her to apply the lashes. She never washed her hands, the smell of her skin made me gag. She was awful at it. I couldn't wait to get out of there. When I got home half my lashes were hanging off so I tried to glue them myself. At 5:30 in DSW, my left lash fell off. So, I had to pull the other one off which wasn't hard to do. I wasted $25. I'm not worried about Helen reading this, based on all the other reviews and how close they are to my own experience. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Let's start at the beginning. My friend had purchased a Groupon for the two of us to go for my birthday. The Groupon was for a "Girl's Retreat" that included Champagne or Wine, shampoo and condition with hairstyle, Anti-aging facial, special event makeover, and a 30 minute massage. I was very excited for this present! After walking into the salon, the receptionist was on the phone so we decided to browse the accessories and look around until she was available. After about a minute, she hung up and we told her that we were there for the appointment that we scheduled so she gave us the introductory forms to fill out. She informed us that we were waiting on the masseuse (right on Kim P.). After we finish filling out the paperwork, we are still waiting around to get started and the receptionist, who is also the owner, is back on the phone. I decide to look on Yelp to see what wonderful things we were in store for and to my dismay, I found the three previous reviews. After reading them for myself, I pass my phone over to my friend. Oh great. The esthetician then came out with a client that she had been working on and got her finished up. She then asked who wanted to do their facial first and who wanted to do the massage first. This was definitely one of the first big red flags for me; I had envisioned a "Girl's Retreat" being that we were going to be doing everything together at the same time. MMmm-kay. Mind you, we had not been offered anything to drink from the receptionist, not even our Champagne. The masseuse DID run in late and she was very frazzled. After she ran past us apologizing with her rolling suitcase, SHE came back and offered us some water which we gladly and thirstily accepted (we had been waiting around for at least 15 minutes). I chose to do the massage first, and that's when the pushing of the sales pitches started. She asked if I wanted to do Reflexology or Cranial Sacral therapies, and I said that I would like to do the Reflexology. That's when she informed me that Reflexology was an additional $20; at first I hesitated, but then I thought "It's my birthday, I'm splurging". It only goes downhill from there. I get into the massage room and I am given instructions to undress but that I could leave my bra on if I wanted to. I made the good decision to leave my undies on. The massage was nothing but a jerky, pulling, and rotating exercise for the masseuse. Her skills in Reflexology were not there. She was squeezing my feet with needle like fingers; mind you, I told her that I had plantar fasciitis and as she is squeezing my tender feet, she tells me that I don't have plantar fasciitis, I have bone spurs. I guess she found this out because she was squeezing so hard she was "massaging" my heel bone! The whole time, she is talking. And trying to sell her nutritional business. I am the type of person that will try most things once, so I was trying to keep an open mind. I just don't see how this "method" - and I use this term loosely - would work for anyone. She did use a timer to ensure that she gave me my 30 minutes of "massage". The facial was the highlight of the visit. My friend and I then switched rooms and I whispered to her "Good luck!". The esthetician came in and gave me instruction to take the top part of my clothing off and get under the sheets. When she came back in she started to examine my skin and asked what my concerns were. I told her that I had oily skin and that my skin was really congested. She proceeded to do my facial, give a scrub and then a mask, and even did some extractions with great skill. When she applied each product, she would explain what the product would do and what the highlighted ingredient(s) were. After the facial was over, she asked if I had any questions on any of the products that she had used. Afterwards, she thanked me and asked if I wanted any water. After getting dressed, I came out of the room and my friend was in the wash bowl so I went to the area and sat down in a chair. My friend doesn't have a traditional cut, she has a very exaggerated angled bob, so when Helen went to brush/blow dry her hair, she was very confused. The whole time she blow dried my friends hair, it was like she was just brushing her hair out and then had a blow dryer pointing at her head. She didn't even curl or use a straight iron. I had the same experience as she harshly scrubbed my scalp with her fake nails. She pretty mush finger dried my hair, but I GOT curled with a curling iron. The esthetician was applying makeup on my friend while I was getting my "hairstyle". My friend's makeover didn't look half bad, and they actually put a blush color on her that I was trying to convince her to use. My makeover was very juvenile and not flattering. I bought a coupon here and used it about a year ago, but I've been seeing Groupons for this place lately and had to put in my 2 cents. Do not go here! My coupon was for me and my mom for a facial, 50 minute massage, and make up application. First, the store was locked when we got there ON TIME for our appointment. Turns out the facial giver lady was the only one there and was with a customer in the back, so she locked the door for safety? Second, we had to wait for the masseuse to show up. I think we waited at least 30 minutes. When she finally got there, they gave us towel robes to change into and gave us water in wine glasses (fancy I guess?). I got my massage first while my mom got her facial across the hall. The masseuse talked the entire time and was so frazzled from being late, she had no direction in her technique. AND it didn't last 50 minutes. Then my facial was not what I thought one would be like. Her instruments were visibly worn out and all she did was rub in cream and leave a hot towel on my face. Then exfoliated it with her dull exfoliator thing. It didn't feel sanitary at all. THEN Helen applied make-up on me. AFTER making me feel dumb and stupid for not being a big make up wearer. The skin on my nose had been peeling a little at the time and she didn't hide her disgust about it. She had me done up very poorly and dated to whatever decade she's from. Update your style please! I love Hello Gorgeous in Fairview! Their specials are such a money saver that I almost feel guilty (ok, maybe not) 2 facials for $150 until 11/30 and you can buy now and book later. These are NICE facials that would cost $150 each, elsewhere! A facial with Belinda is heavenly! Her attention to detail and my comfort are spot on, not only did my skin look fabulous my neck and shoulders felt like melted butter after the facial / massage. Been to this salon 3 times loved the way the girl did my hair but when I tried to get a brazilan blowout which I scheduled twice both times they canceled on me the first time they called me the second time no call. Had I not called to double check my appointment time would not have known they canceled the appointment. Well, let me tell you, the aloe vera gel works to help with baggy eyes and I'm very pleased with the results. So, sometimes pushing a product is good...if it works....as it did in this case. Once again I clicked the "Buy" button on a Living Social Deal. This time it was for a Girls Day out for Two at Hello Gorgeous in Allen, TX. ($149) This was a pretty good deal for the services provided. Where else can you get a 30 minute massage/30 minute facial/Makeup/Hairstyle for $75 each? I'll review the services and give you some personal observations regarding my experience. Review of Services: - Massage was one of the best I've ever had. It was therapeutic and addressed some major issues in my shoulder area. Adrenaline junkies need not apply. The therapist didn't ascribe to the "no pain/no gain" method. Instead, she used trigger point and range of motion treatments. Since it was only 30 minutes, she didn't have time to work the rest of the body. - Facial was above average. The facialist assessed my skin type and provided treatments to help reduce baggy eyes and redness of the skin. It was nice and soothing. No extractions on this particular facial. If you need that, you'll want to select a facial to fit your needs. - Makeup. This was surprisingly good. I had my makeup case in the car, complete with remover that I KNEW I would have to use. But I didn't. They didn't go over the top and the quality of the makeup was good. It's a Hello Gorgeous specialty line. I'll get more into that in a minute. - Hair style lasted for 4 days. That's after a night on the town on Saturday and biking on Sunday. I received compliments on it.....and that's how I determine if a style is a hit or miss! Personal Observations: - Décor. Very flirty and fun items scattered throughout the spa including lip shaped mirrors, a HUGE chandelier that looked like a pristine dandelion and stiletto tape dispensers (to name but a few items). This is a girly place, unlike other more stoic spas. It will put a smile on your face if you are eclectic in nature. - Hello Gorgeous products. This has ALWAYS been a delicate issue with me. If I'm coming into an establishment for the first time to try out the services and to see if it's a place I would like to patronize, don't try to drain every dollar from my bank account. When I get the sales pressure of buying overpriced products, it immediately puts me in a defensive mode and breaks my happy chi. I'm just telling you this because they will try to sell you their products. And, I wound up buying a $30 bottle of aloe vera gel for baggy eyes. It probably works, but so does the stuff I get at CVS for a fraction of the cost. Just be aware of this if you are easily persuaded and are on a budget. I just wanted to help these guys out with a true and positive review. I went today on a groupon to get my hair cut and a make up application. My experience was great!! The girl that cut my hair whose name was Treya did a more than fantastic job. Honestly this has probably been one of my favorite cuts and I typically do not slum on a salon. The owner who did my make-up also did an amazing job it was very natural and she is very proud of her products. Let me also say her prices are great! We went here for a practice session for my sister's upcoming wedding. She was scheduled for a hairstyling and a makeup application. The owner, who was also the stylist and cosmetologist for the appointment, was pushy and unpleasant during the hair styling, telling her she could not braid the hair on one side of her head "because there's not enough hair." My sister has very thick hair. My sister would have preferred to hire Hello Gorgeous for on-location services the day of the wedding, which is a service that Hello Gorgeous advertises, but the owner was very reluctant to even consider doing it. We got the feeling that even if we scheduled it she would find a way to back out. However our main concern is the unhygienic conditions of the makeup application. All of the tools she used to apply the makeup were dirty and appeared to have been used multiple times since their last cleaning. They were merely wiped with a paper towel before she used them. Brushes had old makeup on them and Helen double-dipped several times with the disposable applicators she used, leading us to believe that if she did it for my sister, she has definitely done it during the appointments before hers. My sister has a degree in special-effects makeup, and is well-versed in proper cosmetological procedures, however due to Helen's attitude she did not feel she could address her concerns with her. I can't imagine why anyone would think it was ok to wipe someone else's dead skin, face oils, and bacteria on a client's face. The next day after the procedure my sister woke up with an infection on her lip, something she has never experienced before and for no other reason more likely than a dirty applicator used during the makeover. I did not want to write a review, and would rather have sent a private email with my concerns to Hello Gorgeous, but there is no email for that location. I do not write reviews lightly as I know how highly a business values positive reviews, but I could not stay silent on this. read more

This place was horrible. The facial I purchased was supposed to be an LED anti-aging facial and did not use any lights and only lasted 15 minutes. Then my hair cut- I actually had to ARGUE with the stylist to get her to even cut my hair. She refused to shampoo my hair (since I had already washed it that day), misted me with a squirt bottle and then trimmed 1/4 of an inch off my bangs (after I argued with her to actually CUT my hair). Also my hair color choice was insulted, my layers were insulted. She spent 20 minutes just fluffing my hair around with her hands telling me how badly it was cut. Then my hair was teased up (since I mentioned I preferred layering my hair to get volume), since "she could give me volume without those awful layers". Then during the makeup lesson none of my color preferences were used. Also there are no clean applicators- so she put mascara on from the sample and then handed to me to put on myself. Gross. But despite all this, I was hit up to purchase products, and she moaned that "she was going to be put out of business with people not buying things" and THEN hit up for gratuity!! So if you'd like to fork out cash to NOT get a haircut this is the place for you!! PLEASE NOTE: the stylist that was so rude and condescending- OWNS THE CHAIN. read more

I went to this salon on Saturday to try to get my hair fixed after another bad haircut. BAD IDEA. The lady who cut my hair managed to make it worse! I argued with her over what I wanted done, and all she did was give me a shorter, worse version of what I had come in to get fixed. I will never go to this place again. read more

This is more to let the owner know what she needs to change about her business. I did a Girl's Retreat hoping that it would be a great relaxing experience. I started with the facial. Every other facial, I have received massaged your neck/ shoulders/ hands while waiting for products to set on your face. It was awkward to just have products put on and taken off with "wasted" time in between. Next, was the so-called massage. I was told that I would have to stay on my back so that I would not "ruin" my facial. Having your back massaged is the best part! All I received was the strangest upper body frontal stretching thing that I have ever experienced. I was very disappointed. The owner did my make-up which was fine and I liked the products. Lastly, I had my hair done. This was the roughest hair-washing and brushing that I have ever had!! Overall, this was not the relaxing experience that I had hoped for and I am sad that this was a gift for my mother. read more

I went there on an Amazon Makeover coupon and was very dissatisfied. I too had to stand for my haircut which suppose to be a cut based on hair texture, face shape and body proportion. All she did was cut off 7 inches and then all but insulted me when I asked for bangs. I too was told to use scrunchies to pull my hair back. Helen was my stylist and makeup artist. She was suppose to do a color analysis but couldn't decide which looked better and told me to just pick which I thought was better. Hello, I was here for a makeover not me tell you what to do but you tell me how or what I can do better. She made me feel very ungirly and kept calling me "that kind of a girl, the sporty type" as if it didn't matter it was a waste of her time. She stopped to take or make 4 phone calls and go say hi to someone that had stopped in to buy some products. I was looking very forward to this trip but came out feeling like I bothered her and less attractive than when I walked in.
