I came to Hello Jasmine during a conference at McCormick Place because, let's be real, my dudes, food at the conference center is largely uninspiring and expensive. One of my friends who went to grad school in Chicago (whose food recommendations I trust with my life) told me I had to check out Hello Jasmine, so I hopped on the bus. I'm so glad I did. The cafe itself is ADORABLE. I happened to visit just before Halloween (10/28), and it was decorated in the most charming "spooky cute" way. There were little Halloween touches everywhere, and someone on staff is very clearly a Harry Potter fan. It somehow managed to feel festive, cozy, and cheerful all at once. I ordered the matcha fresh boba milk tea with fresh milk. My default is always 0% sugar because my biggest beverage pet peeve is when drinks are too sweet. (Despite being an ABC, one thing that definitely survived is my instinct to say "not too sweet, please".) The cashier gently talked me into getting 30% sugar because she said the matcha could be a little bitter otherwise. She was absolutely right. 30% percent was perfect. It was balanced, smooth, and so good that I accidentally drank it much faster than I meant to. (Oops.) I also ordered the pig blood rice cakes (made them spicy), and wow. I don't think I've ever seen these anywhere in Boston. They were seared, spicy, savory, just a tiny bit sweet, and 100% delicious. I was so excited to find something that felt a little harder to come by. 11/10, I would absolutely come back. In fact, my only complaint is that it wasn't closer to the convention center. I probably could have expensed lunch there, and honestly, those corporate dollars would have been much better spent here than on conference catering. I wish I lived in Chicago just so I could stop by more often. Hats off to Jasmine and the staff. It feels bright, authentic, and full of joy. I imagine it's exactly the kind of cafe where students go after a long week to recharge over a really good drink and something comforting to eat, and I'm so glad it exists. read more

Lots and lots of options. Wish the menu was clearer to first-timers because I saw food on other tables that I would have preferred to order, but hadn't noticed them on the digital menu. Perhaps the pictures didn't do them justice. Beef tendon soup had lots of delicious tendon and noodles. Not enough veggies, though the bok choy it did have was nice and fresh. I got the combo braised pork rice bento. The braised pork was a bit greasy and too rich for me this time. My fruit tea that I got with my combo bento was also too sweet for me; though I got half sugar, it tasted like more than half. Really generous portions for one though. From my experience, they seem to give more volume if you dine in vs take out. The wifi/password also did not seem to be working when I was there. This spot is away from the main Chinatown plazas, so it doesn't feel super crowded or overwhelming. read more

wI have been going to Hello Jasmine since they first opened, and I usually enjoy their drinks. However, my most recent visit was a little disappointing. The drink I ordered was not as good as I expected. The taro flavor was okay, but the texture was not smooth enough. On top of that, the wait time was about 45 minutes for one drink, which felt too long. I think the management and ordering system could be improved, especially during busy times. I was excited to try this spot because as someone who's Taiwanese, I love Taiwanese food (especially Taiwanese street food) unfortunately the food, milk and service fell short for me we ordered: -- cuttlefish: this was my favorite of the 3 food items but the seasoning wasn't evenly coated on the pieces -- mini sausage: the texture was nice but the flavor was lacking. also found a piece of hair one of the pieces so I couldn't eat that piece -- tofu: it was okay in flavor even when I added sweet and sour sauce, and the texture lacked the crispy outside + soft inside that I was looking for the oolong milk tea didn't have the right milk to tea ratio -- it was too milky and didn't have a strong enough tea flavor in addition, the service was incredibly slow -- it took at least 20-25 minutes for the milk tea to be ready despite only 2 people being ahead of me. So this weekend while I was in the Chinatown area, I decided not to go with my norm and tried a different tea place. I ordered the Peach Tea Lemonade with Lychee and added tapioca. It was the perfect level of sweetness. Not to sweet not to bland. It was like heaven in a cup. The restaurant itself sells Asian food and a variety of teas. The vibe was pretty cozy and chill. You can either dine in or take it to go. It was also very clean. They were kind of busy so it was a little slow to get just a beverage, but then again it was a Friday evening. Pickled vegetables, bok choy, a tea egg, tofu, and a piece of sausage make up the side contents. Each of these have a unique flair whether that's taste or texture. Rice and popcorn chicken is pretty standard, but juicy and tender. Much like the fast food bentos one might get in Taiwan, this was very comforting. Boba Milk Tea - boba was old and slightly overcooked, so it was firm but didn't split in half immediately. Classic black tea base but nothing special. Tea wasn't super potent but it was present alongside the milk. Their chicken is what puts them above though. Fried chicken, grilled chicken, popcorn chicken bites might be some of the tastiest poultry dishes I've ever had. Sides would need a whole other review. I have to say. It's been awhile since I had a cute theme like takeout. Off the bat their fishballs is top tier! I only say it cause in NYC we recently lost "Shung Kee Food" it was probably one of the best if you want to make your own at home. All the loose ones out there now a days just taste like imitation or just filled with flour and starch. These on the other hand had it packed with flavor and bounce! Definitely a recommend! Hello Jasmine is one of those places that has both food AND boba. They offered some options for Taiwanese street food, as well as some actual rice dishes. Love a place with variety that can do it all! There's a bunch of seating and a bathroom which we happily used one by one after grabbing the ginormous key they offer at the counter for customers. Drink wise, I was a big fan of my Pinky Guava Grapefruit. It was such a summery drink, and the guava and grapefruit paired so well together, and it was, in fact, pink. There was a sourness to it that made the drink seem fresher, but it also wasn't too sour. Plus the fruit pieces added texture, and those fruit pieces were there across the board for all of the drinks my family had. Not only did I love my Pinky Drinky- I also am obsessed with the garlic popcorn chicken we got. I opened her up and was like "oh I didn't know this chicken came with rice." I looked a little closer. What I thought was rice was GARLIC. This chicken was sitting in a literal pool of garlic. We got essence of garlic AND actual chopped garlic all over these chicken pieces. We ordered 10 different flavors and I liked how the cups were smaller sizes. to be less wasteful. I have a couple of friends that live in downtown and will drive to Chinatown just to get boba from Hello Jasmine because of how much better the quality of the boba is here compared to elsewhere. As someone, that is not nearly as experienced or knowledgeable of boba, I decided to give this place a try and have to say that I understand the hype that my friends have for this place. I was also impressed that they had a couple of vegetarian options on the menu. I got the grilled tofu and a passionfruit boba -- both were excellent. They are a smallish store but it was super busy on a Friday afternoon. We ordered at the kiosk and got the braised pork rice bento and the drink/fried chicken combo. Food came out fast. It was so good!! One of the best Taiwanese food I have ever had in the states (and I'm from Los Angeles). The flavor was amazing and tasted so comforting. The fried chicken was crispy and tender. Hello jasmine has been my favorite for milk tea since they've opened!! I love every drink I've tried here and my favorite recently is the taro coconut delight- the perfect amount of taro flavor with the coconut sweetness. I usually adjust the sweetness level when I order milk tea but with this drink, I don't need to adjust anything and it's perfect. I also love the popcorn chicken which is salt and pepper chicken nuggets. Its flavor is so on point with a hint of basil. My coworkers who've tried this place also love their bento boxes and drinks. The only down side is how the size of their popcorn chicken has decreased yet we're being changed more. They claim it's inflation but the ration just doesn't make sense to me. This place is always busy to be prepared to wait for a little bit especially during peak hours but the service is still decent and Efficient. We had bubble tea which was scrumptious. I had the Taro Milk Cloud with Oat Milk. It was creamy, filling, just the right sweetness, basically 100% delicious. If you buy this on Thursday, you get a free drink. If you meal is over $30, don't forget to click/ask for the free piece of fried chicken. Parking is limited as it is a shared lot with other vendors. My boyfriend liked everything except for the pig blood rice cake (one of the sides) which he tried for the first time. He did like the other side, fish balls that he ordered. I think both chicken entries could be more flavorful. I had popcorn chicken at another Taiwanese restaurant called Taipei Cafe and I like their popcorn chicken better. Theirs was more flavorful, and closer to authentic Taiwanese street food popcorn chicken. I'd come to this nice place again, however I wouldn't want to do the combo again. The fruit cloud drinks that were included in our combo were ok. I don't feel like getting those again. Their other drinks looked more interesting so I'd like to try some of those next time. Also want to try other meal options. When we were there, the cashier seemed to be on their first day of training and wasn't ready to take orders. This is a nice casual Taiwanese street food eatery and the values are quite good here. This was our first visit to this franchise. This location is part of a relatively newish (5 years old) Taiwanese oriented strip mall and they have their own convenient and medium sized parking lot on the south side of the strip mall. The wife and I dropped in for a Saturday lunch and we ordered their braised sliced pork rice bento combo for 1 for $21.98. It included a side (we picked grilled tofu) and a big bubble tea drink (we picked Assam boba milk tea). We also ordered an extra side of popcorn chicken for $8. The bento combo was nicely and attractively presented in a plastic bento box. Both dishes and the drink were great values for the quantity and quality received and it was all satisfying and delicious. Their drinks menu is also large and extensive. Water is also free now despite a sign saying 50 cents per cup which is no longer practiced. Their medium sized dining space is clean, cozy, and airy. Lilly was the friendly attendant on duty for us and she has been there from the very beginning. T'was a nice first visit and I wouldn't hesitate to return for a delicious, fresh, and convenient Taiwanese street food stop. read more
