This spot has changed hands, names, and menus over the years, but it seems to have found its identity - noodles. This family-run spot is quaint and doesn't offer much in terms of interior decor and lighting. The entrance is also fully covered in a decal, which makes it easy to walk right by this spot. The food makes up for some of these shortcomings. This is the familiar Cantonese cooking that is comfort food for many. The stir-fried noodles in particular are a must. There are rice dishes, soups, and more to choose from and you can't really go wrong with anything. The soup is my least favorite of these due to the broth lacking depth, but the wontons were good. I have been to Yummy Yummy Noodles a few times when I come to Chicago for work. They do one thing really good: noodle soups. All the ones I have tried from wonton to beef tendon and brisket are tasty and satisfying. Their Chinese BBQ is hit and miss. Last time I visited the roasted pork belly was divine. This time I had a duo platter with the pork belly and duck. It was mediocre, pork was too fatty and chewy. The duck was bland, no dipping sauce, and stringy. We also had the cumin lamb which I usually love, but it didn't have great flavor this time. I still recommend it for the soup noodles. I wrote this review mainly to add an updated menu. read more

They serve up the best local Chinese food in the area for a reasonable price. They offer a wide variety of dishes, and everything we've tried has been delicious. The baby was feeling under the weather and we wanted to get her some congee and living in the northside there are very limited options. It was either go to Argyle, Uptown which was ~ 25 min away or pay premium prices in Lincoln Park locations. So it was a no brainer to hit up Chinatown. We almost ordered at China Wok/D Cuisine but Yummy Yummy Congee was $3 less! Then on top of that we managed to get 2 additional dishes which would have been the price of 1 for the other places. Fish Fillet Congee - 10/10 even if it was for my daughter I had to 'taste test' & it slapped. So good she had 3 bowls! Beef brisket & tendon (wide egg) Noddle Soup - 100/10 always hits! & this type I remembered the right noddle type. Last time had the rice noodle because I forgot what I had the first time and it wasn't the same. Good but wide egg middle is better imo Salt & Pepper Porkchop - 7.5/10 It was good and also very generous amount of protein portion but maybe since it was take out, it lost the extra crispness that it usually comes with All in all worth ~15 min drive there and sitting in traffic to go home and the food was still hot too. If you order the bbq, do yourself a favor and do NOT, I repeat, do NOT reheat leftovers in the microwave. Reheat in a pan or wok with a little bit of olive, avocado, or organic canola oil--makes the roast pork, duck, and cha siu taste as good if not better the next day! I SWEAR this! (The pan or wok reheating crisps up that skin SO NICELY) When you can't get ma's home cooking, Yummy Yummy is the place to go. The bbq and especially roast pork are SO GOOD in fried rice (no soy sauce, extra green onions). The seafood and tofu dishes are Quality and cooked perfectly. The fish balls are sooo good! The gailan (Chinese broccoli with garlic) is cooked perfectly! The Chinese sausage fried rice is SO VERY delicious! (Only ma's is better) The only things I'd add if possible to it would be a little salted fish and chives mixed in and a tiny bit of black sesame oil with the fried rice. Their jook (aka congee) is the PERFECT comfort food when it's cold outside. The only thing I'd add to it is some fresh ginger, green onions, and shredded lettuce. Their Chinese BBQ is SO good it's the biggest reason I can't become vegetarian! Their food makes me happy cry and think of HOME it's so good! It's like angels dancing in my mouth! I've been wanting to try this place since forever and finally had the chance to over the weekend. I did a takeout of bbq pork with noodles, roast duck over rice, and an order of pea tips. I had half an order of pea tips leftover and turned it into lunch the next day for work. This place is family owned and they worked their way up to finally having their own storefront restaurant. Their prices are super reasonable for the amount of food you get! I thought the duck was very flavorful compared to other places I would get it from. The duck wasn't super salty like how they do it at BBQ King House. I would definitely keep coming back here for the roast duck over rice because it is only $9. Other places definitely charge at least $11 for just one BBQ item over rice. The BBQ pork had just the right amount of lean and fat ratio in every bite you take. We had crab rangoons, potstickers, wonton soup, beef brisket and wonton noodle soup, chicken fried rice, orange chicken - requested spicy, and General Tso's chicken. Everything was a hit! I understand how frustrating it would be to have a table of 4 order one thing but there's no need to treat us like that. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. After that, we were very put off and decided to end up tipping $0. When we were leaving, they said very loudly in front of the whole store "you're not going to leave a tip?" I said loudly, "no, I think we're good" but my friend reluctantly set down $2. Our meal was $10. 20% and for what. That is extremely rude to pressure your customers to tip especially when the service was outright awful and nonexistent. It was not a busy time, there was one other table in the store and the table was huge and probably would've tipped a large tip because of the amount of food they were ordering. There was no need to call us out for $2. My friend didn't even feel good about leaving the tip and tips are supposed to be left willingly. Now for a $2, you got a nasty review on here, I really hope it was worth it. Please do better. We will NOT be back. The place wasn't even clean and the food was not worth $10.
