Such a bizarre experience. A1 signature trio shrimp noodle - 4/5 stars Delicious, hearty broth. Noodles had a nice chew. Chicken kaarage - 5/5 stars Marinated and seasoned so so well. Probably one of the best chicken karaages I've had in a long time. The problem was the service and the timing of how everything came out. Our group of four ordered three orders of A1 and one order of A2. Two of the A1 bowls came out first. We're waiting... after 5 minutes, we followed up with the server and mentioned we're still waiting for two other bowls. She literally said "yeah?"..... another five minutes pass. It's been ten minutes now so we ask again. She says our bowl is next. After TWELVE minutes, the third A1 bowl comes out. The table next to us ordered after us, and yet their A2 bowl came out before our fourth person's A2 bowl came out. Please make it make sense. And the last bowl came SIXTEEN!!!! minutes after we got the first two bowls. In the Asian culture, it's polite/manners to wait for everyone to get their food to eat... we tried our best but you bet it ruined the meal. This noodle soup spot is worth checking out if you are a true shrimp lover. However, if shrimp isn't your thing, I would think twice because the broth is very shrimp-y! The broth has a rich and pronounced shrimp flavor. I ordered the Spicy Prawn and Braised Scallion Soy Chicken Noodle Soup. The chicken was excellent! It was tender, well-cooked, and a great addition to the noodle soup. The noodles were al dente and the perfect width. However, I wish the broth was spicy but it was not. I was expecting more heat to complement the richness of the soup. The service was good. I was able to order right away. The food came quickly which I was thankful for because I hadn't eaten all day and it was already approaching evening. We were seated with minimal wait on a Saturday at 12pm! Service was prompt and attentive. This restaurant is known for their shrimp broth, but they also have a select number of chicken and veggie based broths. I got the combo noodle which had two giant prawns, two shrimp meatballs, and a wonton. For noodles you can pick between thin and wide, but both of them are thin imo. Since it was a wintry day, I thought the noodle soup was perfect to warm me up. It was filling, and the chili oil on the side was delicious. The only negative is that it's a bit salty. Also, my friend asked for an ingredient on the side, and it came in the broth. They only have a select number of beverages (teas, sodas), but I was going to get boba afterwards anyway. Been here a few times now and very happy with this addition to Chinatown! Tl;dr fried items are really good here (e.g. chicken karaage, crispy cod items), and I found the shrimp broth to be more flavorful than the chicken one. Sometimes they're a bit understaffed so service may be a tad slow. ===== Food items I've tried: * crispy cod dry noodles - really good! Not a huge portion, especially since it's lacking soup, but very tasty and would get again * signature shrimp trio noodles - I found the shrimp broth to be a bit salty, but it had a strong shrimp flavor. This portion felt quite big. Out of all the toppings, I liked the wonton the most. The shrimp was fine, and the shrimp ball was ok. * crispy cod + chicken soup noodles - chicken broth felt like the shrimp broth but with half the flavor taken away. It was still ok, but with a direct comparison I definitely preferred the shrimp broth. They also put the crispy cod directly in the soup which made it soggy - next time I'd probably (be that person) and ask for it on the side. A few nits nits: the drink menu here is a little sad, but there's a literal army of boba shops all around; and the extra noodle portion size is small. The 'wide' noodles aren't that wide, though I haven't found anything wrong with the texture or size. A great thing in case you drive: they offer parking validation! Overall the food here is very solid and I'd happily try more of the menu and the intriguing rice bowls. The space is pretty big and can fit both large and small groups. Found out about this place through a valentines day promotion and decided to give it a try as it was a new place in chinatown Although the promotional period was for the whole week, I walked in on the day of expecting to need to wait but they surprisingly had seats for us (might need to share a table with others if seated in the middle). Its a schmedium sized place that was relatively clean with simplistic interior I got the classic signature trio shrimp, and it was pretty good! The shrimp flavor really comes through in the broth - it was on the lighter end, little savory with a seafood kick, pairs well with chili oil (what doesn't tho tbh). The custom made shrimp balls and dumplings were my fave parts of the dish, really adding a nice shrimpy cherry on top when eaten with the noods The promotion came with a free serving of chicken karaage which was done really well. Super juicy and crispy, no complaints. Overall, would def try this place again read more

Best noodle bar in Chinatown. This place has recently opened and I can tell you this is gonna be a new hotspot. I love that they have shrimp broth. Finally, I can go to a place where there is not only pork broth for everything. They offer shrimp broth , chicken broth, and vegetable broth . The food is delicious. We tried different kinds of shrimp noodles and also try the dry noodle and each of them tasted really good. You can have it spicy or regular. I prefer the spicy version more. This is a new Singapore-based restaurant. We were here on a Friday afternoon during their soft opening. It wasn't too busy, we got seated right away. When the staff brought us to the table, she forgot to grab the menu for us. It took a while for us to flag them down to hand us the menu. She came back and apologized. We ordered the Signature Trio Shrimp noodles and the Prawn and Chicken Wonton in Chili Oil. You can choose thin noodles or wide noodles. I picked the wide noodles. The broth was very rich and the noodles were chewy. The shrimp ball was very good and bouncy. The tiger shrimps were big. The wonton was good with a numbing kick to it since they used Szechuan peppercorn. The only thing is I think it was a little expensive. For four wontons, it was almost like $10. They also have rice bowls. People who don't like shrimp can order their chicken broth or vegetable broth. There are many choices to choose from. The place itself was clean with a big glass window to see the whole kitchen. It has plenty of tables. I would be back to try other items on their menu. read more

Went here on Christmas Day since it was one of the few places in Chinatown without a line out the door (which should've been my first warning ). This is a new spot in the plaza area, so was excited to try it. I love seafood, and seafood based noodle broths ( and the advertising stated that they created the first shrimp based broth in the U.S......supposedly). Anyways, the inside is clean and the service is prompt and friendly. However the food is tragic; literally no flavor in the shrimp broth and has a weird chemical taste as well. I got the bowl with shrimp and soy chicken and it was quite possibly the worst chicken i've ever had in a restaurant ( very ODD taste). The best thing was the spring rolls (though they were defintely frozen and not handmade). Much better noodle/ ramen spots in the city and in Chinatown. Don't see this spot lasting long. read more

My family and I really enjoyed our visit to Le Noodle Bar. We each ordered something different, which made it fun to try a variety of dishes. My husband and son both had the broth bowl, and I ordered the dry noodles with spicy crispy chicken--everything was flavorful and absolutely delicious. The spring rolls and cucumber salad were fantastic standouts. Service was great, and even though this was a soft opening, everything came out in a timely manner and felt well-executed. We're excited to have this new addition to Chinatown and will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. The only small things I'd note are that I'm not sure if Wi-Fi is offered, and I forgot to check whether there's a restroom available--something I usually look for at restaurants like this. Tried Le Shrimp for a spontaneous weekday lunch with my wife. We were in a nice booth that could see into the kitchen area. The space is bright, open, with some fun wall graphics. It's a new restaurant but the space felt a little-bit lived in already. There is some social-media hype behind this restaurant from what I have seen, so I had to try the shrimp broth. I wasn't expecting a pure ramen or pure Chinese noodle experience, just kept an open mind and palette. The booth itself was fine, but we noticed a faint sewage odor. I'm pretty tolerant, but it bothered me enough to ask for a new seat, my wife is more sensitive so we picked an open table as far away as possible, towards the window. I think we have a higher tolerance for smaller restaurants in Chinatown.... Overall service start to finish was great, my server was impressively tri-lingual. I enjoyed listening to him code-switch from English, to Mandarin, to Cantonese. OK, smell issue solved for us, hopefully that is a one-off issue. Food time! Tried the Signature Trio, Spicy Shrimp and Chicken, and a side of spinach. Overall, the flavors were excellent, the broth was tasty, rich, and the shrimp notes shined through. I also thought the noodles were well prepared. There were two different styles, the small ones were recommended but I tried the larger cut. In the end, both of us preferred the thicker noodles, probably can't go wrong. The noodles had that satisfying chew, with the right amount of firmness and harmony with the broth. The other players in our dishes were tasty, but I wasn't that impressed by it. The portions were just adequate, with textures and flavors that were mild. I think the broth and noodles outshined these ingredients, not just in taste, but in portion size. The spinach was solid for what its worth. I do want to return and try more items, and probably not sit near the kitchen. I'd lean towards a 3.5/5 experience, but the 4 stars is what I'm rounding to. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but this one deserves it. I've already become a regular at Le Shrimp, and it is honestly one of the most exciting openings in Chicago right now. You can tell immediately this is not just another noodle spot trying to ride a trend. There is real technique here. The wok hei is real. Not the watered down version most places claim, but that deep smoky slightly charred aroma that hits you the second the dish lands. If you know, you know. But the standout for me is the soup. The umami is on another level. It immediately reminded me of a proper Singaporean prawn noodle soup, but taken somewhere more refined. It has that same rich crustacean depth, but elevated with the structure and precision of a great ramen broth. It is layered, clean, and honestly addictive. Honestly was super excited for this place to be open! We had their signature 3 shrimp wide noodle soup and their fried chicken dried noodle and both were disappointing. I can see the appeal for those who love shrimp and prawn but the broth didn't have too much flavor and was a deep prawn shell taste which I wasn't a fan of.
