I live in the Clear Lake area but will be working in League City this week, so I specifically wanted to find a nice coffee shop to patron or even hang out in for the next several days. The space was nice with more than enough bored games to keep any group of friends busy. There was no line, and no reason to be rushed. But the barista that took my order was immediately angry and took the stress level to a 10 for seemingly no reason. I ordered an Americano. She looked at me like I was an idiot and asked several questions including milk. I said I'd like some milk and some room in the cup and she berated me with many more questions that I couldn't understand. Pretty much yelling in my face for no reason. The manager/owner was right there watching it. The barista had dark hair, dyed red with a dark short sleeved shirt. She pretty much owned the place over everyone. I stood there with her talking down to me for several minutes. And that is why I won't go back. Also, I ordered a "medium Americano" and it came back after 5-10 minuktes in a cup barely larger than a dixie cup. And it was completely burned. It tasted awful. I write a bad review maybe every 3-4 years. And this was easily the worst coffee shop experience of my life. It actually ruined my morning. And that is why I am taking the time out of my day to write this.

I was met with a friendly cashier/barista (there was only one person working). She answered my questions and also quickly made our drinks once ordered. I went with my usual black island which I adore. The pandan coconut flavors with an espresso kick go very well together in my opinion. I think their coffee in general is great and not overly acidic so I get the taste of coffee and kick of caffiene all in a flavorful drink! I've never had a red velvet latte nor have I ever seen it on a menu so I gave it a try. Surprisingly good! It had a nice hint of peppermint and a slight mocha taste. I don't like mocha coffee and I think this was a very good subtle peppermint mocha. If you don't like peppermint then this drink is not for you. I would definitely get this again and a bigger cup or better yet see if they would put it in one of my own mugs. They started selling breakfast tacos! If I was hungry I would have gave it a go but I wasn't so next time! I love the addition of a coffee shop within heb. I never have enough time in my day and it's nice you knock off groceries and a tasty coffee in one stop. They do have merchandise for purchase as well. You honestly can't miss it because it so nice bright and an inviting spot that you can see from the check out counter. Unless you are at self check out then you may miss the coffee shop. I wish their IG page stays updated with their seasonal drinks available. The drive thru was empty, so I ordered and got my items very quickly. I got a white chocolate flavored iced latte with almond milk and an egg burrito. Beware that the coffee was VERY sweet, so I'd ask for 1/2 sweet next time. The burrito didn't look all that great, but it tasted really good and satisfied me until lunch. Overall, I enjoyed giving Black Rock a try and would go back if ever in the area.

Everything is good but the best drinks gotta be the Oolong Milk Tea and the Lychee Mango Tea, and the best food I always get is the Kimchi Fries. The interior is really nice and cozy. They have a lot of plants and they are real! The only problem about this place is that they're a bit too far and really deep in the Clear Lake area, they're right next to Go Shabu Hotpot. I just got done with a lunch date nearby and needed a little pick me up to finish my errands. I'm assuming all their locations are similar in that this place is a drive thru or walk up concept. I almost drove past because the drive thru line spilled out into the road but then I saw they had two lanes moving at a pretty rapid pace. Just from what I saw, it seemed like the whole staff was young, high school kids, but they were working hard. They had multiple people walking the lines with an iPad taking orders and keeping traffic flowing. I explained it was my first time so the young lady gave a quick run down of some of their popular items and asked what flavor profiles I like. The line moved quick and I liked that they took the time to wipe down each drink before handing it over so there was no mess. Great customer service. I ended up ordering the Cookie Butter iced coffee. The flavors of this coffee included toasted marshmallow, hazelnut and white chocolate breve. I like a breve because you get a creamier drink. The flavors worked well together and I really enjoyed my drink. I typically like a more coffee forward drink, but every once in awhile I like a dessert like drink. This was that. 7 Brew is one of many like chains in the area so competition is high out here. In my opinion, this place has a slight edge over the other places in that they have a great variety of drinks and great customer service. I will most definitely be back.

Finally next in line pick up our drinks, still behind the same car. Even more staff comes out to talk to the person in the car, they were given their drink, but continued to sit there holding up the line. Staff finally brings us our drinks, I asked "is this person going to move or are we going to have to go around them?" The staff said the person in the car worked there so everyone was just saying hi. They did not prompt the person in the car to move, just continued sitting there. The franchise owner should be embarrassed of their staff.

The coffee is a bit different, but it's easy to find something you like. I usually get the Deep State Cold Brew. the shaken espresso is pretty good too. I will buy a bag of beans periodically. I would hope that they are fair trade, which is not clear, but some of their beans are organic, and they brew up tasty at home. The atmosphere is nice. The counter staff are friendly and seem to know what they are doing. Usually good spots available to sit and get a bit of work done, unless it's one of the rare days where the place is totally full. Good scenerey usually. it's a mix of NASA people, university students and other odds and ends from the community. They play crappy music, but not too loud, so easy to tune out. The thing that needs the most improvement are the baked goods. Absolutely terrible. At first I thought they had Costco muffins or something similar, but in truth, Costco muffins would be a BIG improvement. Their baked goods suck. LOL! The staff was very friendly and pointed me in the right direction for recs, and I ended up selecting a hot guava latte with almond milk and a couple of alfajores. The latte wasn't too sweet yet still had a pleasant guava aftertaste, and the alfajores were the perfect treat to go alongside my coffee. I'll definitely be back!
