Had a great experience with HelloTech for installing Nest Hello Doorbell and Yale lock. Pro-top: look around on different browsers or mobile to see slightly different quotes. I originally saw $99 for each service, but a different search pulled up a discounted $60 for second service (so $160 total). You can pick several day/time combos that work for you, and they will eventually e-mail you with the one the tech can come out. For my particular service, I was asked to take a WiFi speed test near my door, and a picture of the old doorbell and lock area. The day of the appointment, you can track your technician on a map once they're en route. Temi was assigned to me, and he was fantastic! Super courteous, highly skilled as he shared he does over 10 of these each week and has probably done almost a thousand jobs. I couldn't believe both devices were installed and up and running after 30 minutes. He showed me on the app, and went through a few runs to ensure every thing was smooth. Even told me which parts of the boxes and hardware to keep for future use. One of the most professional encounters ever, highly recommended! The tech was not the issue. I had two appointments. One for Sunday (with a discount through home warranty) and one for Tuesday (initial booking without discount). The service was completed on Sunday with no issues and after the service I shortly cancelled the Tuesday appointment (which was booked Saturday at 11am). I was charged a $25 cancellation fee. I called and spoke to a representative who said the cancellation fee was valid despite me having completed the same service on Sunday. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, the representative claimed to have been the supervisor. I had to go through my bank to reverse the charge.This is a scam of a company, stay away. read more

I was recommended to HelloTech by my internet provider. The tech was nice , he was here for like 6 hours which was a lot for me and at the end of it my cable (which was not why I had them come) would not work. I verified multiple times that my cable would not be messed with and he assured me it would not. Well when he lifted it still was not working . I had to then have my cable provider come out and fix it they stated that what he did was not done properly and they had to fix his work (and I had to pay them). I was charged double the original quote from hello tech which would have been fine if I didn't have to turn around and pay my cable provider to fix their mistake .. All said and done they offered me an $80 refund after 2 weeks of back and forth and after they originally told me no and I had to contact them again. Just Be mindful if you hire them read more

Some of the so called technicians have minimal experience and are not properly vetted. I had an appointment to fix my doorbell that my technician missed and I had to be rescheduled. The install pricing was actually very reasonable as well. One item to keep in mind is that their install techs don't have ladders. We purchased tv mounting service through Walmart along with a TV. There is a wall mount already in place. We had a 2:00 pm Saturday scheduled and they texted at 1:00pm saying we had to reschedule. OK. Rescheduled for the following Tuesday. Got a text Tuesday before the appointment saying we needed to reschedule again. After multiple calls (and believe me they really make you work hard to get to a person) I figured out they outsource their jobs to subcontracted installers who can pick and choose which jobs they want and they can cancel at will. I'm still waiting for them to contact me for our 3rd attempt. Being retiree, we have been able to give them AMPLE openings to schedule. Yes, they have been overly apologetic with claims of "we'll expedite this...we're seeking an installer immediately, etc, etc". And we are still sitting here in limbo. I was very pleased with the service I got. The tech was punctual, polite, professional, patient and respectful. He got every thing done that I wanted done. I would recommend them to anyone. Just for the record, though, I had three little problems trying to place my order, First I tried using their online chat. It connected but no tech came into the room. Second I called their 800 number and got voice mail. That really puzzled me. I hung up but within 1 minute I got a call saying they were sorry they'd missed my call. Third I had difficulty explaining to the person taking my order exactly what I wanted done. Some of the fault, no doubt, was a failure on my part but I got the sense that the order taker wasn't very tech savvy. After calling Hello Tech twice and receiving a similar price each time, the technician showed up (over an hour late with no notification). After looking at the space in my home said the job would cost 2-3 times what was estimated, would take a day with at least 2 people and would leave holes in my wall for a contractor to fix. First tech texted me a day before with a message of "Hi, is tomorrow still good for you?" My initial response was - "Who is this?" Him - "The guy installing your cable". Me: "What's your name and what company are you with." followed by him not being able to make it for the agreed upon time. Second tech (one who showed up) contacted me the night before to confirm the type of work, # and location of rooms, etc. He was an hour late with no text or call. These techs have no ID or even a work order so you know who is coming into your home. Hello Tech makes a big deal out of asking the customer to wear a mask and clean the work area (Covid Safety), yet the tech isn't wearing a mask, doesn't put anything on his shoes before coming into my house, leaves my front and back doors open as he comes and goes and borrows my hose to fill his radiator. I was considering Hello Tech for other technical needs for my business, however, would not touch them for any work - even if free. This is the company Xfinity referred me to for ethernet connections in my home. This was as bad as the service the Xfinity tech gave us when he installed our cable and wifi. I had to hire another company (Casteel) to come out and fix the two Nest thermostat installations (hallway and basement) that HelloTech did in my house on Monday, May 27th. First, I discovered after the tech left that there was a problem with the hallway Nest installation as (1) there was a intermittent loud banging noise coming from the furnace and (2) there was still no heat option on the Nest app. I texted the tech about the intermittent loud banging noise and never received a response. Second, there were exposed wires in the basement installation. I had to have an HVAC tech come out for an unrelated issue and had him check out the two Nest installations. He discovered that the wiring in the hallway Nest unit was incorrect and, when he pulled the Nest device off the wall, one of the wires fell out as if hadn't been secured properly. The HVAC tech was able to correct the wiring in the hallway Nest installation; once that was fixed, the intermittent banging from the furnace stopped (the incorrect wiring caused the furnace to try to come on at the same time as the air conditioning). read more
