I had Hellotech mount three 55" tv's in my office conference rooms. I had stipulated mounting locations and height above finish floor. Not only did they mount in wrong locations, the tv's were all out of level and the mounting heights were each wrong by a different length. I don't think the tech even tried to mount these professionally. I have tried to contact Hellotech to come back and correct, but they keep asking me for more info or sending me to different contacts, saying they will get back to me but never do. read more

First I'll review Geekatoo as an alternative to the Geek Squad, then the person who did the service. If you don't want to read this long review, then suffice it to say that I decided to go with Geekatoo and was very satisfied with Geekatoo and the technician who did the install. Here's the longer version: I was looking for someone to help install a new Blu-Ray player and AppleTV. We had our current system installed by Magnolia Audio about 7 years ago. The entrainment system sits near to the TV. The TV is above the fireplace in a nook. All wires are fished through the wall via a pre-installed conduit. The DVD player that we had was hooked up using component video, the Cable box was hooked up with HDMI, and the Xbox 360 I hooked up using pre-existing older Xbox connections. We had the cable box upgraded a few months before and during that install it screwed up the audio for the DVD player. I figured it was good enough incentive for me to upgrade some of the other equipment and come into the 21st century :). The reason why I wanted help was because I wasn't confident about how all the wires were connected and how to get the new components properly set up using HDMI. Plus the back of the entertainment system was overwhelming and all the wires were zip tied together making it difficult to know what was what. My goals were to remove the Xbox, DVD player, and older universal remote IR wiring, hook up the new Blu-Ray and AppleTV, reprogram my Logitech universal remote, and fish the new equipment wires through the wall to the TV. I researched and compared Geekatoo to Geek Squad. First off Geekatoo had a much simpler pricing structure than the Geek Squad. The Geek Squad choices were not very clear and didn't quite fit into what I was looking for. Geekatoo was very straight forward. I filled in a pretty easy to use form and based on what I requested was given a quote. The home theatre set up was a $129 flat rate. I was given an option to upgrade to 2 higher plans that would give me additional service calls and support (depending on the plan). I opted out of that since I believed that I could handle everything else moving forward. Finding a similar service on the Geek Squad was not as straight forward. For $99 I could have gotten a home theatre "consultation". All that provided was an evaluation of what I needed and then I believe I would have gotten an estimate from there. Then I could choose a follow-up service at an additional call. If I was starting from scratch maybe the 2-step process would have been ideal. There was also a $149 TV & Video Setup option but the listed services didn't cover everything that I wanted. Plus it was $20 more than Geekatoo. Also, the Geek Squad reviews were not consistently favorable. Based on all that I opted for Geekatoo over the Geek Squad. Another deciding factor was that Geekatoo offers weekend options. Everything ran relatively seamlessly. Geekatoo had great follow-up emails and reminders. The person who took the job, Charles La Due, was prompt, easy going and did everything on my check list. I did have to run out and get a longer HDMI cable since the ones I had were too short to fish through the wall. I didn't blame that on Charles since we had discussed supplies prior to the scheduled date and he said that I might have to purchase another HDMI cable if the ones I had weren't long enough. I will definitely consider Geekatoo and Charles again if I need any additional home theatre help. read more

I got the runaround trying to schedule an appointment with them. They show available appt times for my installation but, after choosing times, they message me to choose another time, but their link does not work. By phone they offer me a time, but later message "would I like to choose a different time?" And the link does not work. I gave up. Very unprofessional. read more

I downloaded Windows 10 and immediately ran into problems. After exhausting my limited resources, I called Geekatoo for help. They quoted a reasonable price and seemed to understand my problem. The technician showed up, was very personable and got my computer up and running. He left. I went to explore the changes in Windows and discovered that I had basically NO programs left. Then I noticed an icon on my desktop that said "removed apps." There were over a hundred programs listed, some of which I'm sure are sub-programs of things I use, but Office, Photoshop, my printer/scanner drivers, my genealogy program etc were all gone. My cameras were no longer recognized. I immediately called the tech and he came back. He stayed for a couple of hours and loaded some of the programs that I had discs for. I then spent the better part of the next week trying to restore my remaining programs and drivers. I emailed tech support and explained what happened. Unfortunately, in the process of restoring Outlook, the original tech apparently typed my email address incorrectly so I didn't receive the response from the support team. Since writing my initial review (which I've now edited), tech support has been very responsive. They sent me a copy of the initial response that went to the wrong email address (NOT tech support's fault). The initial response addressed part of the problem, but didn't recognize the larger problem. At this point, the jury is out on whether I would use them again. They have offered a free service call in the future, which I feel is a fair response at this point. read more

HelloTech (via Amazon Home Services) mounted a 70" TV in my bonus room. I appreciated that HelloTech was able to accommodate my request and get someone to my place at 6pm (the latest Amazon would let me schedule is 5pm). Paul, the service tech, actually arrived a few minutes early and was patient and courteous while working with a mount that I had provided (mount was from Costco). Both my house setup and mount were more challenging than expected - I have very thick drywall - but Paul did his best to carefully make sure the tv portion of the mount was correctly aligned and the wall mount itself was sturdy enough. My TV weighs over 100 lbs, so getting it onto the wall was pretty tough (took 3 people!), but we got it done and it looks great. David was friendly, courteous, professional, and knowledgable. He got my wireless printer set up in less than 1 hour; something it had taken me 4.5 hours to try to do with no avail. He called me ahead of the appointment to check in and get the details and arrived promptly. My noisy and sick 11-month-old didn't seem to phase him. I can now print from all my computers, phones, and devices and scan to my email and to my computers. He even offered to go a little above and beyond if I needed any other wireless devices added to the printer access. I was slightly disappointed that it would have cost an additional $130 for a part to be installed so I could have the printer work wirelessly in my first choice of locations (right next to my office desk), but I wasn't surprised necessarily that it would have taken additional equipment to get my wireless printer to work so far away from my router, which is essentially in the basement (although my old wireless all-in-one printer worked just fine by my desk). Overall, I'm really glad I used Geekatoo and I will definitely use them in the future and recommend them to others for tech services. The price was very reasonable for the amount of service I got and the peace of mind knowing that if they couldn't fix the issue, then I didn't have to pay. Geekatoo is Ok when getting new work orders, however, the follow up trouble problems SUCKS! they ask you to press 1 and someone will get back....I have been pressing one, calling their number with no results. Ryan, our tech, was friendly, knowledgeable, and a good communicator, both over the phone prior to the appointment and in person during the installation. He went out of his way to secure the parts needed to keep a next-day appointment and to complete the job at that time. We had our 55" TV wall-mounted to a full-motion bracket, plus he connected and mounted our sound bar and BluRay box. Ryan even asked for our vacuum cleaner so he could clean up his drywall dust.
