This is the 3rd time using Helme Electric and each time they have done great work. The first two times were for installs, one for pool equipment and the other for outdoor fans and lighting. Rick came out first and did a great job getting the requirements and then came back with a reasonable price for the work. On install day they came out on time, did great work and left no mess! The most recent visit was for a service call where my breaker kept tripping. Rick came out the next day, other places I called were booking a week plus out, and got right to work. We got the power on and stable then started plugging everything in and havent had an issue since! Will definitely be using Helme Electric for all my needs going forward. read more

Dig 120' Trench for hookup to pump. Busted main waterline after I gave him layout of waterline. He then threatened to charge me for repair! He claims it took 2 men 8 hrs to complete job! His electricians were actually laborers. He billed me almost $2,000 for labor and $1,000 for parts. He started job without providing me with a written estimate. He has now filed a workman's lien on my house. I explained to him that as a disabled 76 year old veteran I can't afford his triple charges. Helme Electric didn't complete job correctly. Once connected the pressure gauge was busted and not replaced. Had to call Nature Coast Pump and Well who replaced well tank $650 and $250 to correctly re wire powe disconnect. Professional job from Nature Coast compared to Helme Electric who use laborers @ $195.00 per hour. Avoid Helme electric ... not honest! read more

I can't say enough good things about Rick Helme and his crew. I've recently had some painful, expensive, and complete nightmare experiences with other electricians. Rick Helme & crew renewed my faith that there are still some great contractors out there. They were the only electricians who I dealt with that showed up as promised. They also had a very well organized and stocked truck & trailer to tackle my project without having to run off to get anything. They were also the only ones who showed up prepared to get the job done. Other electricians have run off, leaving me wondering if I'd ever see them again or if I'd be left paying for the hunting of supplies. The Helme crew was extremely professional, courteous, and were very considerate of my time, cognizant of it also having a value - a rare and considerate work ethic. They offered solutions that were relative to the job at hand, further streamlining getting the job done in a safe, reliable, and sensible manner. It was NOT about what was easy, most profitable or convenient for them. They genuinely care about the customer, their workmanship , and their reputation. This is a sure fire business model for success in my opinion. I say all of this after dealing with lazy scammers who don't care about anything but grabbing your money, Helme Electric is a diamond in the rough and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them as the absolute best electrical contractor I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with! I'm sure I could've obtained a "lower" hourly price, but quality, and quite likely safety would suffer, eventually leading to many more hours resulting in a much higher final cost. I'm convinced Helme gave me the BEST VALUE possible. I wish I could give them 10 stars instead of 5 ! Yeah, they're that good! read more

Rick is a great guy. Never once did I call him and he not answer the phone. Always answered my questions and was helpful with giving input as to the best locations for lighting and such. His crew was beyond respectful and very clean. The guys did a fantastic job. They even fixed issues that were caused by the other subs/inspector on the job without and issues. The work was done a kitchen, living room, dining room, garage and laundry room in Gainesville, FL. Absolutely great from start to finish. Mr Helme came out for the estimate at the time he stated, took notes of everything I wanted done, made suggestions possible ways to accomplish the things I wanted done, sent me an email with the estimate within 24 hours. I digitally accepted his bid and we set a date for the work to be done. His crew arrived on time, were pleasant, polite and efficient. They completed all the work, (two last minute additions were cheerfully accepted and done as well) cleaned up everything and were gone in one day. The original time estimate had been a day and a half. The final bill was lower than the estimate due to the shorter labor time. I'll hire him again for any electrical work I need done and have recommended him to friends already. read more

We had an electrical problem occur. The company we had used in the past no longer services my area. Recommendations we had from friends didn't pan out, so we were searching blindly for a residential electrician. I liked the previous review here on Yelp, and they were close, so we decided to give them a try. They were very good at giving a timeline for service, telling us that it would be late in the day because of a previous commitment. It ended up being a quick fix, and they were nice enough to come after hours rather than making us wait another day with limited electricity. The charge was reasonable.
