By visiting here, you can take a gondola to the halfway point up, and then an elevator to the top of the highest jump. Gondola ride itself is very cool, and the elevator can be overwhelming however you can stay in the indoor cabin at the top versus going outside to climb the final staircase. It's crazy that from the very top, you cannot see the landing zone at the bottom. Expect a wealth of factoids and sweeping views of the area. The staff can answer just about any Olympics question you can think of. Came blame them, as this is a very cool place to work. Not sure how repeatable this is unless you upgrade to a tour with an athlete demonstrating the jump, or the zip line which launches from the hallway point, however at worst it's well worth the 1 visit.

While we really liked this resort I would not necessarily recommend it those with physical challenges. There are actually 3 separate buildings that compromise the resort. The building we were in had a lot of stairs and no elevator. The "main" building interior is beautiful and there are man made waterfalls out front. The main building does have an elevator but the amenities, like pools, are pretty spaced out and require considerable walking. The room we stayed in beautiful with a wonderful view of the lake and mountains beyond. Of very special note: the Guest Services Manager- Ms Lia Collins- is a truly special person. She went beyond normal policy to help us out when unexpected circumstances caused us to cut our stay short. She treated us with caring and compassion- not just as customers. I highly recommend this hotel - aside from my accessibility comments. In my opinion- if accessibility is an issue for you- that you stay in the main building. Just be aware that there will be some walking. Overall a very nice place to stay!!

This most recent visit was our first stay at the Lake House. The free coffee until 11 am each morning in the lobby was a wonderful surprise! Parking was easily accessible right outside the door as was access to Main Street which was just steps away. They have Romanian students do all the serving and they couldn't be more accommodating. One of my favorite places in the Adirondacks for sure.

As state park campgrounds go, this is a very good one. It has a semi wilderness feel, which I like…read more Most of the campsites are only reachable by boat, some by boat or hiking, and there are a handful of sites that can be driven up to. The sites are relatively primitive with the only amenities being a picnic table, outhouse and either a fire ring or stone fireplace. There is also a bear box at most sites big enough for an average size cooler and a few bags of food. There are bear in the area so it's highly recommended (in fact it may be a rule) that all your food goes in the box when you are sleeping, or away from camp. About 1/4 of the sites have a small floating dock, while the rest you have to land your boat on shore. Some of the landings can be rocky and a little slick, so watch out. The sites are a little close together for my taste, but thankfully not every one was occupied when we were there, so we had space. If you need a boat to get to your site, canoes are available for rent ($20 per day). You can swim right from your campsite, there is pretty good fishing for bass and the scenery is spectacular. Though I much prefer the nearby wilderness lakes and rivers when I want to go paddle camping, this is a very decent alternative if you're with people who don't want to leave civilization too far behind. Most sites are no more than a 30 minute paddle from the landing and Long Lake is a few minute drive. So if you need ice, food, drinks or a Wi-Fi connection, it's only a short distance away. The campground is pretty popular, so book early

If you want to get away from it all without going too far from civilization, Forked Lake…read more(pronounced For Ked Lake) is the place to go. It's got 79 sites, some primitive ones that you have hike or paddle to and a few sites for trailers and RV's. There's no flush toilets or showers but there is potable water and out houses. The lake is gorgeous, quiet, and pristine. About a third of the land around the lake is state land, the rest is mostly owned by Whitney Industries and when they say no trespassing, they really mean it. The only negative to this is there are the most aggressive deer flies I've ever seen.

They have a self-serve area where you can make coffee (they have Keurigs, cups, creamer, sugar, etc.), as well as good cereal, oatmeal, bread/english muffins). The rooms were suites- a large sitting area with couch, two chairs, TV, and a separate bedroom. One negative- the AC unit is in the sitting area so if you close the bedroom door at night the bedroom is not cooled. You must leave the door open when sleeping. Rooms were clean- but the disinfectant/cleaner they use has a strange smell that was a bit unpleasant. Recommend they find one that smells better. Bathroom was a typical motel bathroom- sink area, toilet, shower. Overall- good accommodations at a reasonable price (considering you ARE in a resort area).

So I checked my email and had nothing from them. Thankfully someone walked in the office and asked if I needed help. They said it was a text, not an email. I didn't receive a text either. He looked up my info and the text was sent to my home phone number. So he told me my door code. I couldn't remember that code all weekend, so I had to look it up on my phone every time, I'd rather have a key. Also, he didn't tell me how to enter it, but I figured it out. My husband had more trouble when he tried lol. Every time. That keypad is very very touchy. And the kids next door, fighting over who gets to enter the code, yelled it several times. So now the whole parking lot knows their code. I guess Shaheen's is doing a lot of remodeling. I think we had a new room? But I'm not sure if it's finished. The ceilings are painted black, trying to look elegant I suppose, but looks kinda creepy. Many white paint drips / smears everywhere, unfinished carpentry, chips on the freshly painted door. New beautiful bathroom has a large sink but it's completely flat and stuff doesn't rinse down without a ton of effort. Toilet roll is a far stretch to reach. Toilet seat is sharp, really high, and uncomfortable. I know I'm sounding picky here but it was a lot. There is zero soundproofing. Thank goodness we needed the air conditioner, it helped drown out noises from neighbors and construction. For some reason, there was a man sitting in a truck, right below our back window, smoking and playing music loudly. Two nights in a row. Not sure if he was a guest or a worker or what. Public water in the area must be brownish yellow because the new toilet always looked dirty. I noticed the same water in the lobby Keurig machine. I believe the ice machine has a filter because the ice looked clear. As we were leaving, we noticed a little old lady with oxygen was having trouble getting in her door. We watched for a few minutes then asked if she needed help. She told us her door code and we showed her how to do it, but now we have her code. So dangerous if we were the type to take advantage, thankfully we're not. The only plus - my motherinlaw called the hotel to ask if they had any amenities she could purchase for our wedding anniversary. The man said no, but he'd be happy to go get whatever she wanted. She suggested champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. He said he had to go to the store anyways, and he'd make it happen. She called the night before to make sure everything worked out, and he said he forgot! Jeez! He ended up getting a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates from Adirondack Chocolates, and even a card. A very nice touch! But we definitely won't be back.
