Above is the ring we got. Below is the example photo provided. The setting on our ring effectively DOUBLED the height of the stone.

My wife and I have been going to this location for a couple years now. I purchased her engagement ring and wedding band from them. What I want to highlight is that each time we tried working with the store, they've provided incredibly ugly settings on my wife's ring that were set way too tall to justify. At first we complained and after a long explanation from the store manager on how it looks beautiful (even though we were complaining it looked horrible, apparently her saying it looks good is enough) eventually some other person in the store told us our request was possible and he made sure it got done. A couple years later we returned to upgrade our stone. First, the store did not contact us once the job was finished- we had to call them weeks later to find out. When we picked up the ring we were devastated to find the setting was set incredibly high again. We explained the issue again and were told that nothing could be done because this was the "industry standard". We tried showing them photos of competitors, but they said the stones were smaller, even though the example photos we selected were specifically the same size. Attached is one of the comparisons. However what was most infuriating about this experience was that when the person we were working with escalated to the same store manager we worked with before, she was maybe the worst customer service representative either of us have ever worked with. Instead of trying to provide us with options, she spent the entire time convincing us how she thinks it looks beautiful and that we should agree with her opinion. What's worse is she then tried to sell us earrings to go with the ring we weren't happy with, even though my wife was visibly upset. We spent thousands of dollars at this store and they've completely mistreated what would otherwise have been lifelong customers, due to their horrible service and management. I would rate this location a 0/5 if I could. If you are considering purchasing anything from them, I'd highly recommend researching other options before doing so. Please do not support this store or their management.

Originally ring in a 7. They made it 5.5, TOO small. Got it fixed with better quality and service at 4th place in 6.25 which is perfect.

I had bought a ring from a Helzberg location in Atlanta, GA about two weeks ago and bought the lifetime warranty with it just so I would never need to worry about ruining or breaking my ring and so I could size it whenever I needed. The main reason for me purchasing the warranty was because the ring they sold was a size 7, which can be pulled off my finger easily. They said I could go to any location to get it sized, even in Chicago. Now, fast forward 6 days, I go to the Old Orchard location which they said is "closing in less than a week", so they sent me to this location in Norridge. Since that was my only day that I was free, I went over and they sized me right there and I was in and out in less than 4 minutes. They (the tall man that works there) were quick and might I even say hasty in sizing and chatting. They sized me and told me I was a ring size 5.5 and even though that was my first time ring shopping and didn't really know much about it, I told them it felt snug and sounded super small. They said worst case scenario, they'll fix it again when I get it since I have the warranty. I said okay and left and knew I needed to come back for my ring in 3 days. 3 days later, I get a call from them letting me know my ring is ready to be picked up and so I go over. I try it on and this ring looks hideous. I picked out this beautiful, elegant, dainty little rose gold infinity ring with 30 little diamonds on it, and they literally gave me back this tiny, oval shaped disfigured piece of metal. It didn't even look good. I tried it on and it was super tight. This time when I was there, I had one of the best associates helping me, her name is Elise, and she gave me all the time I needed and helped me as thoroughly as she could. I expressed my disappointment and she went back to check to see if the jeweler could help fix that for me before I leave but the jeweler was gone for the day and to be honest, I would NEVER trust the jeweler here EVER AGAIN. I would never want to buy anything from Helzberg again because of this Jeweler and everybody else who was there besides Elise. At the end, they told me to just keep this ring on for a few days and see how that feels or they could hold on to it since the jeweler would be back on Monday (I was in on a Friday and then I would be able to pick up again by wednesday). I kept it on from Friday evening at about 5pm when I left the store with the ring, until Saturday morning at about 6am. I woke up with a red, swollen finger, needed to oil my ring off, and then had a throbbing finger for a little while after that. All in all, the jeweler sounded very sketchy, my ring was a complete disproportionate oval, it was dirty UNDER THE DIAMONDS when they handed it to me, and I could feel EXACTLY where the jeweler had cut my ring to size it smaller. I would have gotten better quality and better service from anywhere else, this just a disaster and a disappointment. I hate to say it, but thus Helzberg location really did put the HELL in jewelry shopping. When I pointed out all the new imperfections in my ring after having left it with this store, the manager simply told me that it passed their "quality control". This clearly states that their quality control sees nothing wrong with returning absolute garbage quality work to their customers. They need to realize and understand that as a customer, I am their "quality control". If it doesn't meet MY standards then they are not doing their job right. WORST jeweler on the planet, NEVER trust them. This was the most horrible jewelry store experience I ever had and I had to go to a totally different (which is now the 4th) location for this same ring. I will NEVER step foot in this Helzberg location again and will make sure I recommend the same to all my friends. The only reason this review got 1 star is because that is the minimum AND Elise was very clear and helpful.

Terrible customer service. The lady that "took care of me" had a smart ass attitude. Don't buy from here.

Brandon was the first associate to greet me & was very helpful in helping us get a good deal on the ring re-sizing. We actually had gone to every jewelry store in the mall & even though some were cheaper we decided we wanted to just work with Brandon. He was nice enough to call a few days later to inform us that there was a slight possibility that the jeweler could have an issue with sizing that could end up causing curvature in the ring. I'm sure at some stores because it's a slim chance they may just do it anyway to make the sale, however Brandon took the time to let us know. Due to this issue with the ring we decided to just return it to Macy's. Brandon was so friendly & helpful that we wanted to get our replacement ring from him instead of Macy's. When we returned we looked at a few rings but could not decide on anything just yet & wanted to shop around. Brandon did not pressure us in the least bit & explained that he knows how important it is to shop & compare to ensure we find the perfect fit. We went all over the city to various malls & Jewelers to weigh our options. After a long day we were ready to just be done so we went to an R&H store in another mall. They ended up showing us the perfect ring, but they were extremely pushy & almost trying to force us to make a decision. After that we decided that we would get that ring....but at Brandon's store at The Hip. If anyone deserved the sale it was him. So even though The Hip is very out of the way for us we ended up calling Brandon with the SKU Number for the ring & he immediately located it & was able to put it on hold. When we went back he got us taken care of instantly. Overall he made a very stressful, but important task as easy & enjoyable as possible. We now will have always have a wonderful memory surrounding purchasing the engagement ring to last a life time. We even invited him to the wedding. Prior to this ring I'd never bought fine jewelry before but I may start just so Brandon can get the sales! As someone who has worked in customer service for over a decade in management, his skills with customers are outstanding & I hope he is sufficiently appreciated & rewarded for what he does! Thanks Brandon! :-)

Jose greeted us immediately and helped us find the perfect ring for my fiancée. I described what I wanted for myself, and he said he would be able to customize one of the available bands to what I had in mind. One hour later, I had exactly what I was looking for. He is a fantastic jeweler! The experience was completely relaxed, and he did not try to upsell us. I was pretty nervous about cost since this is all very last-minute, but we actually came out under budget. We are extremely happy with the rings and will confidently recommend EcoKarat and Jose to our friends and family.

These reviews can be difficult, especially when they're critical. My impression is that EcoKarat is…read moreprimarily a jeweler, and I don't know anything about that part of his business. This review is only about watch repair. Further, different people have different ideas about what constitutes watch repair. Personally, I don't consider replacing a watch strap or bracelet, or replacing a battery on a quartz watch to be "repair". Many of the reviews here seem to be about that type of work, but that's not what this is. My watch was losing a minute a day, and I brought it in hoping the cause could be identified and corrected. EcoKarat does not do that kind of work. They send it to someone else to do the work off site. That's not uncommon, but usually a shop will tell you that's what's happening *before* they take on the watch. I didn't find that out until a couple of days later when I called to ask about the status of the work. Now, I could probably stop there. From a certain way of thinking, this isn't really a review of EcoKarat, but a review of the shop he sent the watch to. But it was EcoKarat that told me they would do the work. And it was EcoKarat that told me they needed to hold onto the watch for a few more days to make sure it was "running perfectly". His words, "perfectly". And it was also EcoKarat that told me the watch was ready. Unfortunately, when I picked it up and brought the watch home is was no longer 60 seconds slow, but about 50 seconds fast. The TLDR at this point is as far as functionality goes, for several reasons I wouldn't recommend taking your watch there. But if you're looking for a little more detail, or maybe you've bought a mechanical watch and you're wondering how to tell who to trust, let's go over some of the red flags I should have noticed while this was going on. 1. Ask if the work is done in house. If they send it to a 3rd party, you're probably paying extra for the process (the middleman). What's more, if anything unexpected comes up, they only know what the 3rd party told them. They won't be able to answer any questions the way the person who did the actual work could. You're also usually taking on a day each way sending the watch to the 3rd party. 2. Magnets are bad for mechanical watches, and we live in a world of magnets. Your computer, phone, microwave, even parts of your car...lots of magnets! If your watch is close to a magnet frequently or for extended periods of time, it can become magnetized and run slow or fast, or even fast one minute and slow the next. Luckily, demagnetizing a watch is simple and easy if you have a demagnetizer. The process takes about 5 minutes, so if someone tells you they need a few days, something's not right. Either the problem is not magnetization, in which case you want to start asking how much the work is going to cost, or someone in the process doesn't know what they're doing. 3. Mechanical watches have a "movement" which is basically the motor of the watch, and it winds from the movement of your arm. Mid-level watches ($1,000-$3,000) promise somewhere between +/- 5 to 15 seconds per day for their movement. Nothing you can wear on your wrist keeps perfect time. Even quartz watches lose or gain a little time. So, if someone tells you your watch is running perfectly, you might want to ask them to explain what "perfectly" means. On the other hand, if someone tells you your watch is performing within its capabilities, but it's well outside the stated accuracy range of the movement, you might want to take your business somewhere else. 4. Checking how a watch is running is typically done with something called a time grapher. You clamp the watch down on a sensor pad and it "listens" to the watch like a stethoscope listens to your heart. Almost immediately a panel tells you how fast or slow the watch is running, the "rate", the "amplitude" (degrees of rotation of the balance wheel), and something called the "Beat Error", which is often described as the difference between the "tick" and the "tock". Getting a reading is almost instant, and time graphs aren't expensive. Watch repairers have them so they aren't just letting the watch go ticking away and comparing it every few hours to another timekeeper like the one on your phone. That takes a lot of time. So, if someone is telling you they need more time to make sure the watch is functioning right, either they are very busy, or possibly they just don't have the tools you'd expect them to have. To be fair, it could be that the watch repairer is "Adjusting" your watch. That can take some time, and you can Google that to understand what a tedious process it is. But even so, they should be explaining that to you if you just thought it was getting demagnetized, and that's definitely not what happened with my watch. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Automatic watches can be fun, but they need some love. Hopefully this can help you identify people you can trust.
