Terrible service. Dr came in for consultation, gave us our options. Made the hard decision to have our pet put down. Then found out the Dr (the only one who could do it) left for the day during the 5 minutes we were thinking about it. So now they can't do it here. So they charged us $300 to tell us it needs to be put down, but Dr left early during our appt, so we have to take it to a pet ER and pay an additional $700 to have it done. Honestly, if whatever Dr had going on was so important, they should waive their $300 for not being able to complete the appt. Also Charged for 2 shots I told them not to do. read more

Wow! I can't even name all the things that went RIGHT but I'll try. Our pup was having some issues and we were traveling in Boise from out of state. 1. They got us in for a same-day appointment. 2. They were up front about the cost of that appointment. 3. They were EXACTLY on time for that appointment. 4. They provided thorough, compassionate, and thoughtful care. 5. They offered a spectrum of options and carefully approached pricing. 6. The treatment plan plus visit were AFFORDABLE. 7. The vet noticed another issue during the visit and offered us support with it - without additional charge. 8. They were able to fill 3 different meds on-site. Our pup is doing GREAT! I've been taking my dogs to Broadway Vet for the past 15 years. A little more expensive but worth it because they treated my dogs basically like humans. Then my 17 year old got very sick and after a couple appointments and sub q fluids it became clear it was time to say goodbye and requested that they make her comfortable. They sent us home with gabapentin, a mild pain reliever, but it was not enough. We tried to comfort her through the excruciating pain she was feeling and called 3 times to get something more for her but we were unsuccessful. At this point, she was only a few pounds and they offered more gabapentin, that hadn't worked, and said the doctor would call us back but never did. Next experience was this week when my 12 year old dog had facial swelling, they glance at her and say she'll need to come back for a $1200-$1600 dental cleaning. This just didn't feel right to me so I called multiple vets to compare prices and they all asked if she was given an antibiotic to start before the procedure, she was not. I'm completely disappointed for the second time and now after 15 years I'm done! We won't be going back. It began to make sense, as I talked to other vets, they have sold out to a corporation. No more invested interest in the community, just poor service and high prices. read more

We've been going to Broadway vet for years. About one year ago, the practice was sold, and since then our experience has been horrific. Let me provide some examples: 1. To start, the new owners have significantly raised the prices. A comprehensive exam fee is $89. 2. They will refuse to fill pain prescriptions for our lab that the previous owner had no problem doing as he will randomly get valley fever flare ups. They want us to come in and spend another $89 just to look at him. 3. We get a new doctor every time we go in. The last one we saw was all over the place with his diagnosis, confusing us, and Broadway has informed us that he was a "fill in" and no longer works there due to other people complaining. 4. That same visit, they neglected to inform us that our Bernese needed a 1-week follow-up appointment for his antibiotics. Now his condition is back, and they want us to bring him in again and pay another $89. Super disappointing, clearly this establishment cares more about a dollar than our pets. We're switching over to Habitat and I couldn't be happier to be rid of this place! read more

During 2020, Broadway vet was not trimming nails so I had no choice, but to go to different people to trim Bonnie's nails. So, I haven't been over here for a year. Now that things are starting to open up a bit and you can go into the lobby I asked them if they were doing nails again. The lady setting up the appointment said yes. As she was setting the appointment she also said that it was about three weeks out. She recommended Petco (who charged me to not do Bonnie's nails) and some grooming place who has really terrifying reviews of dogs getting maimed. I'll pass; we went ahead and set up an appointment. I arrive after three weeks of waiting. Another lady at the front desk proceeds to tell me that they do not have enough technicians to do nails and "we will go ahead and trim her nails, but going forward they do not do them." So, not only did I have to wait for nearly a month after being told that they do trim nails I am also being treated like this is being done as a courtesy. Which to me makes it sound like I was one of those irate customers who just HAD to get their way. This is down right rude, and...I could have gone somewhere else that was HALF THE PRICE. That's right, other vets charge about $10. They had the brass to send me a survey to ask if I would recommend anyone. No, I would not based on the deception. I can't say how impressed I am with Dr. Stephanie Baldwin and her staff. I recently had to put my young kitty down. Being new to Boise I had yet to establish a primary veterinarian. I called and was given an immediate appointment. With in the week I received a personally hand written card from Dr. Stephanie. expressing her condolences. Then today I get home and find flowers in my door step also from the tram at Broadway Veterinary Hospital. It was a lovely jester. Above and beyond for sure. I saw Dr. Strohmeyer for the first time this week and was thoroughly impressed with her and the clinic as a whole. I brought in my rough collie, Octavia to establish care (we just moved to Idaho) and to get annual vaccines and health checks. First off, the clinic is beautiful. Spacious and well designed. They also have a cat that roams the lobby which I think is adorable. Luckily my dog doesn't care about other animals, but if your dog is reactive to cats I could see that being an issue because he/she walked right up to me and Octavia to say hi. The receptionist was super nice, as were the 2 techs I encountered. I didn't get names (Gwen was one I think?), but they were both wonderful and the one that assisted in giving vaccines to my pup was great at humane and force free handling, which is important to me as an animal trainer. And Dr. Strohmeyer was also great. She took the time to answer all of my questions and helped calm down my fears of having Octavia put under anaesthesia for some routine X-rays. She was non judgemental when talking about nutrition which is another important thing to me. I've always fed raw diets and I've definitely seen vets that look down on clients that do this...but Dr. Stohmeyer gave good information regarding nutrition and what she thought was best for Octavia. She also gave great information regarding to spay or not to spay without coming from a place of judgment. My favourite thing she did however was offer to do vaccines in the room with me. I know sometimes it is preferred that dogs be brought in the back to do vaccines, but because force free handling is important to me (and something I train all my dogs to tolerate and/or enjoy) I prefer to have vaccines done with me in the room. She had no issues accommodating this and her handling skills were wonderful. Octavia left the vet happy and that's what matters to me. On top of that - pricing isn't bad. And they are completely transparent about fees and what they think is necessary or unnecessary. I'm so happy I found this clinic and feel comfortable having them on Octavia's care team. read more

Broadway Vet really earned my trust with their care of my cat. I decided to provide a positive review that is long overdue. The entire process, from check-in to check-out, feels appropriate and professional. Even though the patients may be animals, Broadway delivers care with the same standard that a human would expect. After check-in, human and pet are escorted to an exam room. An assistant/technician prepare both for what will happen next, collecting initial information and data to aid the veterinarian in their work, and explaining their initial findings. The pre-exam does not feel rushed or methodical at all. If a few extra minutes spent interacting with the pet is what's necessary to calm or better get to know the animal, they put in the time. It feels like a team effort: you accompany your pet, perhaps aiding in the collection of vitals or examination. The information you provide as the owner is taken into consideration. The exam rooms are quite clean and tidy. They're free of evidence of previous patients, and tools and instruments are sorted and stored neatly. These rooms live up to the standards that one would expect in a medical clinic for humans. There is one entrance for these exam rooms, and other personnel enter only when necessary. This makes the task of preventing skittish pets from attempting an escape easier, as well as limiting the surprise that occurs when unknown entities barge in. The vets are stellar, exhibiting all the traits of professionalism and empathy as previously described. They communicate in understandable terms, and take time to ensure that the human understands the nature of the situation, steps to take, and the options for care. Mind you -- I speak from the experience of barely arriving before closing time. Despite the staff staying after-hours, there was not a single indication that anyone was in a hurry to leave. Also, I appreciate the separate entrances for dogs and cats. My cat isn't a huge fan of the ominous crate or the car rides that seem to inevitably lead to unnerving experiences in uncertain situations, so not having to be in close proximity to the canine species is likely a good thing. Dr. Sessions is great and takes the time to listen to you on the phone (during COVID) and in-person. Dr. Sessions has asked me many questions to learn about my dogs behavior, learning his "triggers". My dog and I are newish to BVH and I am so thankful I finally feel like I have a "connection" with the staff/vets. We have been to a handful to different reputable vet clinics in Boise and haven't had this type of loving care, my dog is a handful at the vet and it has resulting in pretty bad experiences for him in the past, thank you for caring for him, he is a special boy. I took my adult dog back in Feb of this year when she had diarrhea and was able to get an appointment fairly quickly. The staff was great. I thought I had found my new veterinarian. Then April I needed to get both my dogs their vaccinations and wasn't able to get an appointment for weeks with ANY of the vets their. I had to go to a pet clinic they reccomended instead. I got a new puppy 7 weeks ago. Still can't get an appointment for a wellness exam and shots. Wound up taking her to Vetco at Petco for all her puppy vaccinations etc. Then last night I noticed my puppy's eye had a discharge and today some swelling under that eye. Called to see if I could get her in for an emergency. But no.... no appointments available for at least a week. One would think they would leave scheduling times available everyday for emergency cases such as this. Very disappointed and dissatisfied. They are really great if you can EVER get in to see them. Otherwise, don't waste your time calling there won't be an appointment time anytime soon. read more

I hate to leave this review because the doctors are very nice and knowledgeable but I've had issues with management on two separate occasions. Most recent, my cat was seen at the office for blood in the stool and pooping around the house. I told them he has been to vets in Florida and North Carolina (we move for work frequently) with the same problem and every time there appears to be nothing wrong. Because of COVID, I waited in the car. When the young tech came out, she handed me the antibiotics and my cat in the carrier. She did not give me instructions to refrigerate the medications. It was also a very small label on the bag. Long story short, I came home at like 7pm, put the meds on the counter, and decided to start the antibiotics in the morning. I called them first thing in the morning and they said I needed to get a new prescription. I asked if this would be no cost since I was not told about it when I got the meds. I waited all day for a response back after manager review. They called me to tell me they could only give a partial credit. The problem was that the medication was 69 dollars and I paid a total of 250 for the visit. I understand it was my fault for not reading the bag but at the same time, I'm not a doctor, they should have reviewed the medication storage procedures with me. The least they could have done was given me another prescription at no cost. I also had an issue with my dog two years back. They saw him for an emergency visit. A few months later (I think it was less than 2) the problem came back and I asked if they could call in the same antibiotics. The manager said no and that I would have to pay for another office visit. I know they don't care because we are moving again and they don't care if they lose my business but I just have to say the management is very unprofessional. I wish I would have just gone to Companions Animal Hospital from the start. read more

I recently had to take my adult cat (Reggie) to Broadway Vet for an emergency. Dr. Strahmeyer called me every hour for an update on Reggie's progress. His health kept declining and after discussion, we decided it was best to choose euthanasia. It was a painful decision and Dr. Strahmeyer and the entire staff were caring, respectful and professional during a really emotional time. They sent me a handwritten condolence card and a few days later, a vase of fresh flowers from them were delivered to my front porch. It was very thoughtful and appreciated. read more

I got a discount from the SNIP program, which totally messed up my service dog....he got a infection because their surgery was sloppy and they gave only one pain pill....to a 100 pound dog. He was screaming in pain....they glued instead of sutured, which opened and got severely infected so his whole scrotum had to be removed because it filled w puss, he was created w the "cone" the whole time... but he got a infection anyway. I took him in a emergency to Broadway Vet they did a second surgery in 4 days on a Saturday no less, and helped me pay for it knowing most ADA people don't have a lot of money... they totally worked with me on the payment plan, so I could keep my dog. Dr. Sessions was AWESOME through the whole traumatic event, and went above and beyond, explained what happened, why, and how we needed to proceed.... then her staff followed up over the next few days, to make sure Jesse and I were okay, Ill never go anywhere else! read more

I started taking my dog to Broadway vet 16 years ago. My whole family has used Broadway vet for years. When Dawn Sessions was the owner they truly cared about their patients and owners. If there was an emergency with your pet they found a way to squeeze you in and take care of your pet. They truly cared. Dr Sessions even came in on her day off to put my last dog down. It was an amazing place and I couldn't have asked for better care. Since Dr Sessions sold Broadway Vet it unfortunately is no longer like that. When it came time to put my baby down it happened very quickly. I called Broadway Vet and let them know what was going on. I was turned away and was told "we don't have time to put your dog down we are booked." I ended up taking my baby to strangers to be put down, not the vet office he had been going to his entire life. I was very frustrated. I gave myself a few weeks to grieve and calm down. I went ahead and called to discuss the situation because I was in shock that the place I trusted with my baby for 16 years could be so heartless. The receptionist was kind and let me know I should speak with the office manager. The office manager never even bothered to call me back. So if you are looking for a more personal, compassionate and caring experience I would not recommend Broadway Vet. It is a shame what it has turned into, they at one point were an amazing and caring clinic. My family refuses to spend another dollar there because that seems to be all they care about now. We will all be finding a new clinic that cares and will take great care of our babies. read more

I've left a google review for Broadway Veterinary Hospital already- so I thought I should leave a yelp review as well. My kitty Zeus has been here twice. Once for vaccines and a wellness exam and then today for an issue with his eyes. Both times we were welcomed by the staff and shown an exam room very quickly. Both appointments were in and out in half and hour or so. One of the things I've worried about was being judged because he's a little overweight. As an indoor only kitty his exercise opportunities are limited. Well no one judged us or made me feel like a bad pet parent. I can't think of a better place when it comes time for the next yearly exam for Zeus or my other cat Blu. read more

So disappointed. On two occasions the doctors did a forced upsell on me. The first time it was heart worm service - even though the doctor admitted he'd only seen one case in two years. On the second occasion, they charged me for a consult they said would be free; aggressively worked to upsell me to have a tooth removed (not needed); put blood work on my payment invoice they didn't tell me about; put the tooth removal on the proposal AFTER I said no (offering a 10% discount to "help"). I love my dog more than anything. I'll do anything for her. Unfortunately it seems Broadway Vet plays on that for upsells. I will NOT be back. read more

We have been taking our pets to Dr. Dawn for many years. Recently had our dog neutered and then he developed Kennel Cough. We were told they could not see him so we had to take him somewhere else. He had been isolated at home and not around any other dogs since the neutering. He contracted the Kennel Cough at Broadway Vet, yet they refused to see him. Went back to have the staples removed and no mention of our calls about the Kennel Cough or how he was doing. Very disappointed that the care of our dog is such a low priority for them. While routine care has been fine when your dog is sick or hurt they are not going to be there for you and your animals even when the illness was contracted at their facility. We've been bringing our dogs here since we got our first 4 years ago, and even though we've moved to Nampa now, we'll continue to make the drive to Broadway Vet every time because we love it here. Everyone at the front desk is always so nice and helpful. Dr. Reina is amazing with our boys and they love to go and see her. Honestly though, we've had nothing but good experiences with all of the doctors that have seen our boys there over the years. I am so disappointed in this vet. My pup has been going there since he was a puppy. It took me a decade to realize they are not treating their patients with honesty and I am embarrassed about that. I allowed procedures that were financially driven for the vet. My pug had teeth pulled that according to other doctors did not need to be pulled. They made me think it was the best thing for my pup. I was lied to. If I need a vaccine, I have to pay $59 on top on the vaccine charge. I would rather spend my time and money with an agency that cares about my pet more than money. His required vaccination was $18. I paid $25 with my new vet because the employees need to be paid and I was quoted less than $20 at the humane society. I don't mind paying the extra $5 for someone to have a job. The Broadway Vet told me that if I had "financial issues" I could take my puppy to the Humane Society. The Broadway vet quoted me $75. We have currently found I new vet that is affordable, reasonable, and cares about our pup as much as we do. I hope that this review brings light to the deficiencies of this company. The reason this review is two stars over one is that over the years my husband and I have had some nice employees. That's why we lasted so long; we our faith was in their hands, unfortunately that is no longer the case. read more

I am only giving 3 stars because I have had a lot of time to forgive- turning my anger & frustration into sorts of gratitude; however I will not forget. Last October: The boyfriend & I were new to the Boise area & had to go out of town a few days after moving to the city. My friend was dog-sitting & my dog became VERY ill- she is now 13 years old but healthy & happy- very chill dog however had dealt with the stress of moving & such, we still don't know how/why she got so sick. I was in a tough situation not being there with her & Boise being a whole new area to us- I looked on Yelp & called around. I was really impressed that Broadway Vet allows you to drop your pet off as needed (for "free") & she/he will gets looked at between appointments & such- so I had my friend drop her there. After a few days filled with stressful phone calls, tears, frustration, & confusion- I came to realize this 'drop-off' service is their way to get you in the door but then you are totally liable for whatever they want to do for/to the animal along with whatever they want to charge you for it. I won't drag this out too too much but to sum it up the Dr. here REALLY stressed me out on the phone when I was in an awful place emotionally & mentally because I couldn't be there with my dog- she said "your dog is super depressed- is she always like this, like does she even wag her tail ever...she looks miserable & is incredibly dehydrated." My senior dog had been sick for 3 days in a new city without her mom!!! I felt like an horrible dog-mom; I have had this dog since she was 4 weeks old- my whole adult life! Without hesitation I approved her getting IV her fluids & such- whatever needed to happen. I then flew my boyfriend back home to be with her right away- we had drove my car to Las Vegas to get some mechanical work done & car was still in the shop....my car got out of the shop later that day & I drove thru the wee morning hours to get back to Boise ASAP; along the way I was getting updates from my boyfriend- vet gave us a total around $1000 on the phone- OK but a few hours later he goes in to pay it & the total is higher, when he asks why, she says they gave her more fluid- not a huge issue, he was a little flustered because he had the amount ready he was originally told. About 3 hours outside of Boise I got a nasty voicemail from the Dr. about my boyfriend- "him & his attitude needed to be handled because they do what is best for the dog". Holy drama bs that I just didn't need to deal with- when really he hardly made a fuss....LET'S JUST FOCUS ON GETTING MY DOG BETTER & MAYBE MAKING ME FEEL SOME RELIEF PLEASE- not stress me out more! *Another issue- this is big facility & it blows my mind how they had my boyfriend & myself visit with my dog- in their cremation & good-byes room!! They put him in there when he arrived & said they would bring our dog in to see him- he thought he was going to receive really bad news....the walls & counters are surrounded in cremation/engraving advertisement & such. What a totally awful thing to do when the Dr. had made us feel like we might actually loose our dog. He warned me before I arrived but I think that is just plain mean- & in this HUGE place filled with many rooms/areas?!? I met the Dr. the following morning & I really just didn't vibe with her & that is OK- I can't vibe well with everyone.I am sure she is a great vet for some people/pets; however I wish their had been more compassion for the situation- there was none, she is pretty hard-core. I am writing this almost 6 months later because I HATE writing such a rough Yelp review, especially for a place that did end up possibly saving my dog's life; however I think people should know about my situation & maybe they will make things run a little smoother & warmer at Broadway Vet. Where do I begin? Took a puppy in that was very sick. The clinic did not even take his temperature and argued with us and insisted he did not have a fever. Then they encouraged us to pay for expensive testing only to come up negative. Then the doctor said if she would have known he had a fever, should would not have tested for Parvo. Dr. Stephanie Baldwin saw my baby Tinker Bell one time. Tinker was extremely sick. Broadway Vet covered all of my options for care and supported my decision without judgement. Sadly, Tinker passed away only 36 hours later. It was after hours, so I had to take her to West Vet for cremation services. West Vet notified Broadway Vet. That was a week ago yesterday. My husband needed to go to the Mayo Clinic so we packed up our motorhome & our 2 Lhasa Apsos (we're from the Chgo area) . I forgot to bring medication that one of our dogs needed for an ear infection. My vet emailed me a prescription which I took to Broadway Veterinary Hospital. After telling them what happened, they were so kind, didnt question it at all, offered me a hug (cuz I started crying, just the stress of everything) and filled the prescription. They were efficient and thoughtful. If I lived here I'd definitely make them my vet. read more

After my pet was PTS I was really impressed and very thankful to receive flowers and a hand written card from my vet in the mail. Very sweet. back story: I brought my pet here once before and had a poor interaction, I made a review saying I wasn't happy and wouldn't be back, about a year later an incident happened with my sick pet, who was in pain and needed to be PTS that day. I called EVERY vet I could think of an no one could get me in, so I called Broadway vet, they got me in the next day. I gave them a second chance and was extremely impressed, and have decided to bring my pets back here. Sometimes misunderstandings happen, so im going to give it a shot.
