I went there to exchange $400. US Dollars to Euros, and she said the current rate was 0.815 Euros per US Dollar, she said the rate fluctuates everyday (everyone knows that) but when I checked online right there it was 0.85 (a bid difference)!!! I would only be getting 325 Euros. This place is a big rip off, don't go there, they are cheaters and will take your money in a minute and not give you the current rate! You guys, I just went today. I was so excited and reassured by the reviews. Granted I was in and out quick with no line. I did call the day before to confirm the amount and was looking for yen. An easy transaction she talked to me and we confirmed. $3 transaction fee. I gave her $100 US dollars (-$3 fee) so said to exchange the remaining $97. I received 14,000 yen and $0.58 usd coins. which = $91.71 (+ that 3$ original fee) would add up to 94.71 & $0.58 = $95.29 ** I know it's a $4.71 difference but she didn't explain where that went. Is that an additional exchange rate? When I said I thought it would be 14,807 yen for $97 she said we don't do coins. IDK - I wish I knew they don't do coins ahead of time. Parking is hard to find also but I found a great street spot (metered) on Columbus. Just around the corner. There's a parking garage close by to the shop also. That's expensive thought read more

After reading reviews decided to go here for some currency conversion. Small, friendly, I went in when they opened at 10am without any appointment. However the currency I needed hadn't been delivered. I waited an hour still no currency. I decided to walk around downtown to kill some time and eventually when I went back the money had arrive. There are no posted rates on the conversion so the $3.00 flat fee is on top of the conversion payout rate so just be aware of that if you are trying to compare rates with another competitor. Transactions was pretty easy seems to be very a very popular place. Not crowded just a trickle of people but constant; every now and then a line of a few people forms. I called in to ask if they had JPY and KRW available same day and they did! Banks typically won't have foreign currency available same day so it's nice find a place nearby that does. Their rates are pretty similar to Google and they charge a $3 fee regardless of the different currencies you are exchanging (as long as it's on the same order slip). I called in advance to ask for Icelandic Krona (ISK) and British Pounds (GBP). No one answered and it went to a full voicemail box. However, the employee called back immediately and answered my questions about the exchange rates. She said it would take 2-3 business days to get the ISK but she had the pounds on hand. I compared rates with banks and other currency exchange places. Including the $3 service fee for the transaction of exchanging two currencies, the loss rate at Heng Long was about 6.8% whereas other places was between 8.5-12.6% loss! Some banks don't charge any fees but they have a terrible exchange rate! I called the friendly lady back and told her how much I was exchanging and when I would come in. Parking is always tricky in Chinatown. The lady who works there is the same one who answers the phone. She counts money in front of you and is fast and accurate. So if you have someone drop you off, you could be done in five minutes and have them pick you back up. The only thing is that she did ask me for my ID and social security number and when I asked why, she said the government needs it to ensure that no money laundering is happening in this transaction. I was exchanging money for our travel group and it was $950. I would recommend Heng Long Foreign Exchange. They give a fair rate and they are very efficient. read more

Thank you so much to Yelp for helping me find this place. While it is a bit out of the way for me, the trip is worth it for the convenience of being able to obtain foreign currency without the typical wait of a few days that banks require. They have good exchange rates with a $3 service fee. The transaction itself lasted a few minutes and was straightforward. The friendly person staffing the booth counted the money a few times, making sure to wait until she had my full attention before doing so. I received small and large denominations of what I had ordered, which was very helpful as I didn't need to worry about breaking a large bill. If you have needs for a less popular currency or need a large amount of that currency I would call ahead to verify they will have it or will have enough of it upon arrival. I needed a few currencies from Asia and they only had half of the countries I needed. I did not feel comfortable giving them my social security number. But still exchanged a little because the rate is only slightly better than my bank . In hindsight I should have just gone with my bank to avoid giving them my social security number over a few dollars. read more

My new favorite exchange spot. Very comparable to bank rates as well! I needed to exchange USD to Peruvian soles for an upcoming trip. So I called in and it was ready the next day! This is probably because she didn't have any soles. She also asked what type of denominations, which was nice. I got a good mix of 100s, 50s, 20s, and 10s. The lady also called me day-of to let me know that the soles were ready to pick up. Once arriving to the store, it was clean and professional, unlike other stores in the area. Very reminiscent of a bank with the glass window separating the banker and customer. She explains to me what the transaction was and even counted the money in front of me. Overall, would come back again to do all my currency exchanges. Would recommend taking public transportation as it is very difficult to find parking in Chinatown. read more

I called earlier (friday afternoon) for New Z and Aus exchange for pick up Saturday morning. (they open at 10am). Very small clean shop with 1 clerk working the window. She spoke Chinese and English. Nice lady. No security guard on site so i had my friend dropped me off and pick me up; don't want to walk around with the money. (1 loading zone spot and street parking.) I was 2nd in line and was out within 10 minutes. The rate they gave me was comparable to what Wells Fargo would have given me. (if you add in the $3 flat rate per order. My order was $3.) I guess the benefit is that the exchange is immediate and you don't need to wait 1-3 days to get your money from your bank via FEDX. Downside, cash only, no personal checks. In my case both countries' currencies were available in 50's (NZ) or mix 100, 50's and 20's (AUS). no coins and no singles. Side note: they also wire money to China. (i assume anywhere.) don't know the fees. read more

Was in and out quickly, with a receipt of my transaction. Keep in mind there are no tables or chairs, just a sheltered counter. I can't even remember if there is a door (I think it was propped open) I was a little paranoid someone might mug me after exchanging sooner large bills so I slipped my bills in my backpack before leaving the covered counter. read more

Great customer service. Worker was nice and upfront with the currency exchange. This was the best rate. I exchanged japanese yen. She only charged $180 from exchanging 10,000Y. Do not go to any airport to exchange money they will rip you off. The airports were going to charge me almost 25% of the exchange for their cut. Rip off.
