Our parents used to drive us four kids to Chinatown in LA almost every weekend during our pre-adult years in the 1980's and early 1990's. We walked a couple blocks worth and decided to enter into the Dynasty Center. Honestly, I didn't remember much of it, but my Mom and brothers did. Somehow the memory of my past is very selective and limited. I must not be emotionally attached to them memories... I feel I'm an old soul who has been through many lifetimes so my brain cells can't hold thousands of years of memories at the same time... something's gotta give LOL. Back to this Dynasty review, tons of shops. I didn't really pay too much attention to the goods since I didn't have any intention of buying anything. We were just there to stroll down memory lane. It's amazing how clean and organized it was in there though. As I was walking from shop to shop, the one thought that came to my mind was the amount of time it must take them to set up shop. All that clothes and merchandises on display and hanging. I mean... they have to put all that up at the beginning of the day and take all that down at the end of the day. That's dedication, but it's part of the business. Hats off to them! Anyway, I didn't buy anything, but one of my brothers bought some red envelopes in preparation for Chinese New Year 2022. =) Parking was $5.00 all day. Funny, there was a sign outside the entrance that indicated $3.00 and we said that's the cheapest of all other parking so I drove in. It turns out the $3.00 was for the early birds before 10:30 AM. Don't be fooled... read the fine print please LOL. Yeah, $5.00 is average... I have a feeling they all agreed to this price so there's no competition. The owners are always friendly to educate us on what to buy and what to do for grave sweeping visits to our ancestors' grave sites if we ask, without overselling. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area and unless we go all the way to San Francisco China Town, we could not find any shops that have similar inventories to Wah Lee's, so we continue to purchase the items there every time we visit my extended families.

They had everything that I needed such as burning(paper) clothes, shoes, houses, Taoist mourning robe, and various goods for incense. They were friendly and answered questions, but when I tried to check out, they kept trying to sell me on more and more items. I was instructed by my family to buy only certain items, so I had to kindly turn down the additional sales. It was slightly off-putting because I started to wonder whether I needed those 5X additional things she said I needed. Most of the items I purchased I could have gotten from TS Emporium for maybe less, but Wah Lee Co. carried the specialty items such as Taoist robe, which is not carried by TS. I would come here if there are a lot of special Buddhist/Taoist items you need for ceremony.

I love to feel the familiarity of the merchandise when I step inside. Lots of fun imports, cute toys, clothes, jewelry, home decor, games, accessories. Reasonable priced, fun to browse, great for your Chinatown visits. I enjoy buying gifts here and a something interesting for myself. If you like hunting for cheap treasures this is the place to go with random things like magnet toys, hell money, fake gag poops, incense, and plastic swords. Located in Central Plaza, its the area of Chinatown that used to be for tourists. Central Plaza was a romanticized take on China with colorful "chinese" buildings and string-lights and lanterns for night. It's survived so long a shame so much has fallen into disarray, I especially miss the wishing fountain. Luckily Import Bazaar is still running strong. The store itself is small with tight aisles packed from floor to ceiling with lots of different stuff. They try to cluster like-items together so it helps a bit. I personally love the chaos and the store frozen-in-time. My kid was so bombarded with the crazy variety of items here he had a hard time choosing what he wanted. The sweet lady working that day gave him a little toy car for free. They have a hilarious variety of fake cigarettes and cigars for you bad kids :)

Parking is fine especially if you come early, but once you hit peak hours, it will be a challenge to snatch a parking spot. I've been lucky to have gotten parking every time I come here. Remember, patience is key! For the number of tenants here, there should be more parking IMHO. I personally have only visited and supported most of the businesses within Haven City Market and GW Supermarket. As for the other ones, I'll have to plan future visits to offer my patronage. There are a good handful I want to try as shown below with an asterisk. I may just try all of the restaurants on many fine days. No photos at this time.
