My wife and I were driving by and I happened to turn my head and noticed all these plants in the windows of a storefront. I said, "after we get da vien let's walk over and check it out." We are so happy we did. Right away as we entered we were greeted by a nice lady and then Elton said hello and the rest was history! We must have spent at least an hour to an hour and a half there! Elton is seriously the best and so knowledgeable! He walked us throughout and answered all of our plant questions and then some. He also helped us decide on one (we ended up buying two - not the same but different types) and we were so excited to give them a new home. Elton, you were so friendly! Definitely 10/10 customer service! Going forward, Rainbow will be our only go-to for future plants (and pots!) Can't wait to see you again Elton! You are now our plant whisperer! read more

Wonderful shop with tons of plants for you to choose from! I learned they moved over from Chinatown and I'm so glad they did. They have such a huge variety and very reasonable prices. Their website also provides care tips which is great. My plants have been thriving, healthy and pest free which is huge as I keep my plants indoors. The workers are sweet and will let you shop in peace. read more

I was looking for a plant for my outside balcony because it was looking kind of bear outside. I never really been a plant person but decided to add some green into my life. I searched and Rainbow came up. They are located in Rosemead across from Da Vien and Bake and Che. Omg, this place has so many plants and everything else you would need. Elton was helping me figure out what plant I wanted. He asked, did I want an easy plant or how many time did I want to water my plant. I just thought all plants were the same. I ended up picking out this really pretty green and pink leave plant. I love how it looks. Its so pretty. Elton even help me plant it into a hanging plant. He was awesome. Overall, if you are searching for a plant or need anything plant related, come check this place out. read more

The plant shop carries a wide variety of plants and has a strong overall selection. The staff is very knowledgeable and able to answer questions clearly about plant care and options. Inventory looks well maintained and organized. Based on the selection and service, this will likely be my new regular spot for plant purchases. read more

Elton is my main plant squeeze! Ha. Honestly, there's tons of plant shops in LA. It can feel overwhelming AT FIRST! Rainbows been good to us! Been coming through the last 8 years! Even bought plants for the office from here and when my Pops wanted to buy a outdoor bamboo and Elton didn't have the type we wanted he actually went OUT OF HIS WAY to find another nursery in the valley that has it in the stock and sent us there! Elton is a super informative young man, attentive, listens to your needs and suggests accordingly! This is TRULY customer service at its finest, especially if you want plant advice or need to go the extra mile. I typically come here for my potting needs too as Elton is ONE OF THE FEW individuals in the industry who'll help you put your plant in the right pot (based on the type of plant, it's need and your specific plant care habits). I've got majority of my cute pots and stands from here! I truly, truly hope they're one of the businesses that end up back on the map since Covid 19 was devastating for many local businesses! I can't wait for Rainbow Nursey to resurface again! I'm sad post covid caused Rainbows to temporarily closed but DTLA oversaturated plant game simply ain't the same without Rainbows playin' the field. read more

I have no idea what this plant is called but it's so pretty. I stopped by to pick up some new year flowers. They have so much more selections now. Retail and wholesale if needed. The guys here are so nice they speak good english too if you need to call to look for something. Ill be back glad they are closer now. read more

So happy I found Rainbow Nursery. I've been searching for a tall, full Aralia Fabian with multiple branches, and this one was perfect. I also found a tall Aralia Black, Hoya linearis, and a few other beautiful, rare plants that were all healthy and stunning. Elton was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about plants. Great pricing and a wonderful experience overall. This place is truly a gem. read more

Thank goodness for this plantshop! It's an inexpensive, no-frills plantshop that's located in Chinatown. It's crazy to think that I had been here before as a kid when my parents used to come and buy plants here and now I've come full-circle and shopped at their very plantshop to buy my own plants! I love seeing that this shop has been around for a generation! I ended up buying three small plants to take home for my own plant journey. I'm excited to see them flourish in my home. A huge thank you to the gentleman who helped me out at the store. He was so informative and educational and helped me select the plant that was right for me. read more

Plant shopping was part of our LA weekend trip. We came in on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Yes, we stopped by at this shop twice in this road trip lol! My friends found themselves in plant paradise! Plants: The plants seemed to be well cared for as the leaves appeared lush and alive. The price overall was extremely cheap. My friend was surprised that a pot of Alocasia Dragon Scale retails for less than $20, while back home in Vegas it's around $50. We ended up loading the car with at least 8 pots from this shop that Saturday alone and came back Sunday morning for more lol Service: The employees were friendly and knowledgeable. Card was accepted as a form of payment. They have boxes to carry the plants and pots in. They offered us refreshments while we shop :) Parking: We parked at Dynasty Empire Mall parking garage. There were also open parking lot on the corner of N Spring St. and Alpine St. for $4, and parking meters to the front of the shop. Highly recommend! read more

WOWIE WOW WOW!! 5 stars is not enough. I cannot say enough good things about Rainbow & the people that work there ESPECIALLY ELTON! I moved our offices last week and once we got everything in I knew we needed some plants...and fast as we were having meetings on Monday. Rainbow not only answered my email Very Fast on a weekend. Elton and his team curated plants for our whole office and delivered them SAME DAY in DTLA. He went above & beyond. The selection of plants, the pots, everything is amazing. Ok so you're seeing all the five star reviews and you're wondering if it's worth the hype. The answer: ABSOLUTELY YES. Everyone's reviews raving about Elton are SPOT ON. He really took his time talking to us and when we asked him ten million questions, he was so patient, kind, and SUPER knowledgable. We asked about the care of various plants and how to treat some of our plant pests and he gave us amazing advice and told us what to fix so our plants don't continue to suffer (sorry to my plants). One of the best places to get plants in LA. Period. This place looks deceptively small, but has a great selection of plants. Last time I was there, I spotted some rare ones like Monstera Thai Constellation and Philodendron Gloriosum. If you have a specific one that you are looking for but don't see it on the floor, I would definitely ask one of the workers to see if they have any in the back. I asked one young gentleman in particular, and he took the time to help me get them from their greenhouse even though the shop was busy with customers. Despite being busy, he took the time to explain care for my new babies so I don't accidentally kill them. 'Cause I've killed many. Sigh. Did I mention this place is pretty affordable? They have a loyalty program and offer certain discounts as well. I came out of the store with a haul of Philodendron Florida Ghost, Philodendron Gloriosum, a Albo Syngonium cutting, Calathea Musaica, and 2 4 inch pots of Philodendron varieties for under $80. Parking isn't the easiest as typical for LA. There is a parking lot for $5 right around the corner. Sunday has free metered parking so if you're willing to scope around the neighborhood, you can nab a spot. read more

I needed some plants to complete my balcony set up. I wasn't necessarily looking for Rainbow specifically but I stumbled across it kind of after looking up some places and seeing that Chinatown's outskirts had some solid places. There was one employee in particular I worked with who was extremely friendly and helpful but I forget their name. Everyone I interacted with was great, though. I am not sure how their selection compares to other places but they had enough plants to cause me to wander around for awhile due to my indecisiveness. They also have a good selection of pots and I picked one up to go with one of the small-mediumish plants I purchase. I also got 2 baby succulents (2 for $5) but the small saucers/pots are back ordered for another month. Including the yelp check in discount and the 5% off for joining the reward program (they just ask for your first name and phone number) I paid $28. They also validate parking for 1 hour if you parking in the Dynasty center lot. read more

The owner of Rainbow is the nicest and friendliest guy ever! Thanks Philip for taking the time to walk me thru the different indoor plants and the care process for them. I ended up buying three plants; the lucky bamboo, money tree, and tropical snow. I got a small plant on the house as a discount which is always welcomed. The prices were all super transparent and reasonable. I'm definitely coming back again this weekend to check out planters since I didn't realize that ceramic pots and stands were so expensive! Hope I find good ones! Overall, I don't think I'll go anywhere else for plants now that I've found Rainbow. Philip even carried my plants with me to my car. Great service all around. My favoriteeee nursery! The staff here is so friendly and really know so much about plants. You can tell how well they maintain their nursery by the liveliness of their plants' leaves. I've never seen SO many thriving plants in one place! Their selection of pots is also the best I've seen in Los Angeles. I love coming here just to see what's new. I also love conversing with the staff about plant care because I usually learn a thing or two from them. Recommend this nursery! My most favorite nursery in all of Los Angeles! I stopped by here on accident, but am so glad I did. This place has so many beautiful indoor plants. The prices are unbeatable and so much more affordable than other nurseries around LA. The customer service is also very friendly and they give great advice on how to care for your plants. The pots are also super cute and at a bargain price as well. I bought a couple of saucers for my plants since I've been plant-splurging and saucers are more economical than buying a lot of extra pots for those plants. Covid19 wise, everyone is required to wear a mask. There is also hand sanitizer at the checkout desk. The store owner said that they were working on restocking their plant supplies, so I will definitely be back for more real soon. Highly recommend this nursery! read more

I'm convinced I'm the pickiest person in the world when it comes to everything so if you are even remotely the same, look no further!! Couldn't be happier with my experiences at Rainbow so far. Elton and the staff there have always go above and beyond to make sure you leave happy with a happy plant. They are so knowledgeable and helpful to rookie plant mamas like me. I even brought my sad, infected monstera (which I didn't even buy from here originally) and Elton helped me bring it back to life/told me exactly what to do to ensure it thrives. This store has beautiful and a bountiful supply of plants with the friendliest workers - none of whom are pushy. Plants for sale are located both inside and outside of the store. I ended up buying a big money tree and four other smaller house plants alongside new planters for a good price. Street parking was v easy; will be back to buy more. read more

I was recommended to come here by a friend due to the price and quality of the plants. Needless to say, they delivered. I was in search of a succulent or two, but I really had no idea what I was doing because this was the first time that I had purchased one. I probably looked completely lost, but the employees were all very helpful and frequently checked in on me. One in particular (I believe the owner's daughter - didn't get her name unfortunately), was the BEST. I had asked her for her recommendations and she walked me through the entire process and the "levels" of plants in terms of difficulty. She even offered to plant the succulents in a pot, which I gladly accepted. Upon checkout, she recommended that I check-in on Yelp to receive 10% off (nice!) and that I would save money by becoming a member. Parking seems to be easy, but I came during COVID, so this may change depending on time/day. 10/10 would recommend this business! read more

Located in Chinatown, Rainbow is a shop that sells plants and pots. Plants here replenish fast so they come in and come out fresh and last a long time. Pricing is reasonable. Bring a wagon with you since you may have to trek around if you can't find street parking. So get here early. There is a $5 lot around the corner. read more

I. LOVE. this place. A huge shoutout to Elton for consistently giving the best customer service ever!! He's always friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. In addition, he's always very patient in explaining about the plants and how to care for them. The shop offers a great selection of different types of plants: philodendrons, monsteras, pothos, string succulents, and syngonium, etc. The plants here are healthy, luscious, and very well-reasonably priced too. Also, if you enjoy watching your plants grow under your care, they have many plants that are still at their younger stages! In addition, this shop also carries some exotic plants. I've seen some monstera albo, philodendron white princess, pink princess, philodendron gloriosum, etc. If you can't seem to find what you're looking for, just ask them about it, because they keep some of the more exotic plants in their greenhouse. I heard that they used to carry a bit more exotic selections, but due to the pandemic, it's been halted temporarily. Parking is mostly pretty easy. There is a lot of metered parking around the area and it's also free on Sundays! I've been to numerous plant shops around SoCal and this place is still the one I keep going back to. The price, customer service, and the quality of plants- all hit the spot. I purchased almost all of my plants from this place and will continue to do so in the future! read more

One of my favorite nurseries. I've been collecting plants for the last 5 years and I've come here time and time again. During the pandemic, the plant hobby has become really popular and Rainbow has always stayed "on trend" with the it-plants. Everything is super affordable. A lot of the 4 inch common plants are around $5 while the more uncommon ones are at competitive prices. All of their plants are always healthy too. They have a free membership thing where you get points every time you shop with them and gives you monetary discounts too. Elton, the tall Asian guy who looks to be in his 20s/30s, is super super friendly and will help check if they have any plants you're looking for if they're not displayed. They also have plant pots and Buddhist shrine accessories in the back! read more

Shop at Elton's Rainbow plant store if you haven't already! Tons of plants for sale, knowledgeable staff, yelp discounts, competitive pricing, and centrally located near yummy Chinese foods. Rainbow's got a neat stock of houseplants, both traditional and trending. If you're looking for monstera's or pothos, they've got it. If you're looking for a bamboos or money tree plants for your mother/father/grandpa/grandma, they also have it as well! If you need low light plants, high light plants, trailing plants, succulents, and all far above and few like philodendrons and carnivorous plants, they've also got it too! Sure, you can go to home depot and other large stores that spend most of their money on marketing themselves on Instagram, but this hidden gem of a place does very little of those and the plants are at the fraction of the cost, with them being extremely healthy and pest free as well! Not to mention, they have a neat selection of pots that is cheaper and also comparable in quality to places like West Elm too! read more

With the hundreds of plant nurseries across Los Angeles, this is THE PLACE to go to. Hands down. No questions asked. I first started coming here during the beginning of the pandemic (like how everyone picked up plant hobbies during that time) and have consistently gotten to know several of their workers here. Lynn, Phillip, and Elton have been so extremely helpful since the beginning, I've never had a bad experience here. To date, I've bought over 6 plants here and have brought a handful of friends who have also chosen their new plant babies to take back home. Elton is not only patient with you but extremely knowledgeable about a various of plants - including some special rare plants that they will get from time to time. I've never felt rushed into buying a new plant and he will never ever try to upsell something to me just for them to "earn money" in fact, he has done the exact opposite. The new building I moved into unfortunately doesn't get as much light as my last building and Elton has turned me away from serval of my favorites due to the lack of light they would be receiving. Not many plant nurseries or small businesses in general will actually care for and consider these factors. He has helped introduce new plants for me into my home I've never imagined having! They have an amazing Yelp check in discount and from there you can create a rewards program with your phone number to earn points equivalent to money towards your next plant purchases! Weekends are a mess but with the variety of rare plants I can see why. At checkout, I also had an awkward moment regarding the Descanso Gardens membership discount. I showed an email addressed to me confirming my membership, but was told they needed the actual membership number. I understand that stores have policies, but the interaction could have been handled in a friendlier, more flexible way. Overall, I love what I purchased, and the nursery is definitely worth visiting if you're looking for variety. However, if you're looking for something specific, I'd recommend calling in advance to confirm availability before making the trip. Between the higher pricing and my customer service experience, I'd be hesitant to spend money there again unless I knew exactly what I was looking for and felt the price was worth it.

The original owners are now long gone, but Mike has continued running the business in the same style and fashion as the original owners. Mike is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. The company doesn't need to advertise; his customers' good words does that. If Mike doesn't have what you need, he can get it for you or send you to another nursery. The nursery is not a retail establishment; however, if you are planning to redo your yard and need a lot of plants, you can send your landscaper to Sakaida and Mike will work with him, or you. Or if you want a couple of big trees. If you want just a few plants, go to San Gabriel Nursery; they are a great outfit. Sure, you can get plants cheaper at Home Depot, but their sales people aren't nurserymen and they really don't know anything about plants, soils, fertilizer, growing seasons, watering, etc. If you want to buy a tree, Mike is going to ask "Where are you going to plant it?" I was going to buy a couple of large mulberry trees and plant them in the front yard and he warned: "Don't plant it near the driveway or sidewalk...as it gets older, it is going to raise them!" Mike saved me from a disaster. You won't get this kind of advice at Home Depot.

We found the Winter Gem Boxwood (WGB) at another nursery, but they only had a few and their condition was so-so. Called Christina asked her if she had them.
