About a year ago, my girlfriend at the time took me here between classes at WSU around lunchtime…read more The room was buzzing with talkative couples, loud groups, and students snacking and studying. This, however, is not the best time to go to Gold 'n' Greens. In my opinion, this establishment is best visited after lunch when all of the commuter-students have gone home and most other people near campus have better things to do (and eat). Ah yes, this is my favorite time. After mumbling my hello to the person behind the cash register and handing over my card without making eye contact, I'm free to grab a tray and roam the buffet where even the cooks seem to be pacing around, waiting to die. (Note: This is not a knock on the cooks - they do fantastic work, but they're still caught up in the post-lunch depressive vibe.) After loading up with my tray with stacks of the least-healthy "healthy" food you can find (pizza, chili dogs, lasagna, .etc), I make my way to the dining room to join the 5-10 other people eating alone, all facing the same direction, seated at the most isolated tables in silence. (Note: If you somehow find yourself at GnG with a partner in the evening hours, please talk quietly as to not remind those around you of their intense loneliness.) It's recommended that you don't keep count of how many times you go back for "seconds," and it's polite to extend the same courtesy to those around you. Remember that everyone is here alone, stuffing their face and refreshing various social networks on their phones to see if anyone wants to be friends. This is not a place to judge or be judged. When I'm feeling full, I like to make a dressing-drenched salad with extra bacon bits to keep from going home and having to contemplate my sad existence. I've noticed others eating salads last, too, and it's comforting to know I'm not the only one. Sometimes between bites, I gaze out the window and enjoy the view of another wing of the same building. A lone tree sits on a small lawn between the wings, getting blown by wind and spit at by rain. I see a lot of myself in that tree. 4/5 stars because a guy talked to me once there, and it made me extremely uncomfortable. Other than that, fantastic place.

Very low price. If you are going to the DIA ( but museum is closed on Monday ), include this in your journey. Do not expect glamour. Just good food. Dairy, Kosher. It is one of the best values in the area. Call ahead to insure that they are indeed open: 248-522-3700. Their website is not reliable enough in this regard. Today I opt'ed for the roast veal with potatoes and a shredded beet salad; and a bowl of chili. In one word: $10.34 w/out beverage. Excellent. Good taste. Good presentation. Friendly. Hot food hot. Cold food cold. Clean. It is a short walk from the 45-minute parking lot to the 3rd floor of J-Bldg. Ask a student for directions. No liquor. No guest WiFi. Being a school, it is a CCW-free zone.

Yes, it's part of the culinary program at OCC, so it's student-driven, but oh, my word, is it glorious. For $16 plus tax and tip (and you had *better* be tipping these students, for as great as they're doing their jobs...and yes: tips need to be left in cash, but cards are usable for the food, drink, and tax), it's nothing shy of the best way to spend your money on dining out. Are there tradeoffs? Yes, but *nothing* that can't be overlooked with a bit of planning on your part. They're only open on Thursdays, and they only seat parties for lunch between 11:15AM and 12:00PM, and you *must* have a reservation. So yes: there are limitations, but if you can plan correctly, you will be rewarded with absolutely second-to-none food, service, and value for your money. Once you're there, though, the magic begins. You'll have a full four-course prix fixe meal of exceptionally prepared, lovely food for $16 plus tax and tip. And believe you me: you will be as impressed as all-get-out by what your paltry sum will buy you. I started out with the Deviled Crayfish Cake with choron sauce and fresh corn salad. I apologize for not taking pictures, because it was certainly gorgeous to gaze upon. Really beautiful presentation. The taste is where it counts, though, and this was right up there in A- territory. Complex flavors matched well, with warm and cool notes both happening. Wonderful. On came the salad, which was also pretty, but I had them forego the Pesto Ricotta tart, which I wouldn't have enjoyed. Another win here, though nothing life-changing: just a very well presented and delicious salad of lightly dressed mixed greens, a lovely baby artichoke, and the brunoise tomato and cucumber, in a light red wine vinaigrette. The tomato portion was absolutely *terrific*, and I wish more of it had been on the plate. Nonetheless, a very nice salad, of which none went to waste. Onto the entree, something I don't get to have very often: duck. I am really a stickler when I order duck, as I grew up eating my grandmother's duck, and it was heavenly, so it's a high bar I set for this poultry. "Braised Duck en Bouchee, Sweet Potato puree, Jardiniére Vegetables". Every bit a winner...every single bit. Presented beautifully, so I could see the color of the duck breast itself, I was very happy with this choice. Again: they're in A- territory, and that's ridiculously high praise from me. Nice portion, wonderful sauce, every single bit eaten. I nearly forgot to mention the bread! The bread! Oh, that's important! They had a few different types of bread to bring to the table, including a very nice holiday-inspired cranberry/nut bread that was as tasty as it was plain-to-look-at. Honest: while it didn't look like much (kind of like a fruity/nut bread often looks...it really can't be helped), it paid *great* dividends in flavor. I ended up getting the very last piece they had, and I think it was my third piece. As well, they had a nice sesame seed-topped white bread, which I also liked. I passed on the whole wheat they offered me...the cranberry/nut was just too good not to have more of! For dessert? They transcended. They hit the Grand Slam with their Sticky Toffee Pudding with Cataja, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. Absolutely an A here. This is a dessert I'll be thinking about with love and reverence for quite some time. Not at all cloying, but *extremely* well-balanced sweetness, slightly warmed, and served with some vanilla bean ice cream that could have been a bit less icy, all things considered. NOT A PROBLEM: I could have had that dessert with no ice cream at all and it would have been heaven on earth. An absolutely stunning finish to a terrific four courses of food. Food wasn't the only great thing, though: service was terrific. Every person I interacted with, *every single one*, was courteous, gracious, and willing to serve in whatever (reasonable) way you might ask. More bread? You bet. Can we leave out the tart? Yes, sir. Are you enjoying that, sir? Unquestionably. Is there anything else I can do for you, sir? It's service that lets you know that they want you to be happy. Smiles all around. Again: $16. There's nothing to complain about. Nothing at all. It's a complete, total success with me. For a paltry sum, I can eat and be treated like a king. These students can use me as their guinea pig any time. ANY TIME AT ALL. I honestly cannot say enough good things. Stem-to-stern, a top-notch affair. I'm only too happy to give them my money and encourage them in their endeavors. I will be back, soon and often. Get here.

HFH has their own garden where they grow many vegetables and herbs used in the hospital kitchens as well as in Henry's. So they work with fresh ingredients to make better quality and healthier dishes. Today we just had time for coffee between appointments but I have eaten here before and was quite pleased. Their prices are also very reasonable, a pleasant surprise compared with many similar such restaurants. There are no refills on the coffee so keep that in mind, but the coffee tasted good and hit the spot. Minus one star because both mine and my wife's cups didn't seal well with the lids and dripped on our clothing even after resetting it. Oops, came back for lunch, from the pasta station. I ordered the Margherita Pizza and my wife ordered whole wheat Linguini Bolognese and a Kale side salad. Pizza crust was thick, soft (almost bread like), fresh, and delicious. I'm usually a thin crust guy but I did enjoy this one, and basil probably from the garden. The Bolognese was really good and the pasta was perfectly al dente. For drinks we just got the courtesy cups for water. Soft drinks are self serve including refills. The total was $11 but then we got an unexpected "manager comp" for 25% off so my final cost was $8.75. Next time maybe we'll try the Indian. Oh, and because of the freshness, quality, and taste of our food, I'm putting the star back!

My husband, young daughter and I can go in there and pick anything that we wish to eat and know that it is healthy. Nothing, N-O-T-H-I-N-G is fried period yet they have delicious oven baked fries. Their soups are the most flavorful you will ever have and the range of dietary options is great also. Their are options for vegetarian, diabetics, vegans, persons with hypertension etc. and the food is STILL good. Before anyone asks or assumes, no I don't work there and no, I haven't been paid by them to give a good review. I've been going there for a several months between appointments for myself and various family members. Now the most that I go is just to go have a nice lunch or dinner.
