I couldn't even get through half of mine, and my husband barely finished his. If you're looking for a 5-star dining experience, you should move along, but if you want good food, fast and plenty of it - get yourself over there pronto! I ordered the catfish and eggs breakfast. It was priced at $9.50 on Yelp. However, when I got there I was charged $16.00. Fortunately, I had the money. The cook time took twenty minutes which I spent walking around Greektown. The catfish was huge, perfectly cooked, hot, crispy, meaty, and tender on the inside. We were here for an event at Ford Field (MHSAA Wrestling Finals). The restaurant is small in size and there were only 2 people taking orders and serving food. They said they were unaware of the event. However, even the cook came out to help serve food and make sure people had their orders taken. It definitely is not the newest restaurant, but I would not say it was dirty. Gently used might be a good description. It reminds you of an older diner with good food. Eating in the Ham Shop before dawn is just like being in a real life copy of Nighthawks. (That is the famous Edward Hopper painting about being in a lonely diner in the middle of the night while all the streets are dark around you.) But of course the people in Edward Hopper's Nighthawks weren't eating Giant plates of really good stir fry with really good pita bread on the side. If the cooking was better in Edward Hopper's diner, all the people in the diner would have been happy, and the painting would have looked like it was painted by Norman Rockwell. * * * So if you want the painting of your life to be happy, eat at the Ham Shop. read more
