AVOID this place. Usually, I try to support local businesses but today they tried to charge me $22…read morefor one quart of 5W-30 motor oil (not synthetic). That's price gouging! When I questioned the woman behind the counter, she was insistent, but relented when I took back my $20 bill and told her I was in the week before and bought the same oil for $12 (that is double the price of what Home Depot charges: $5.99). She also looked it up on the Emporium True Value Hardware website (the other hardware store in town, minutes away on Main Street) and said it was $9.99 there. So I agreed to pay $12 + tax again . If I didn't say anything, they would've charged $22 plus tax. I think they just make up prices when you get to the counter (no price on item). The New York State Attorney General should look into their price gouging.

Some of the salespeople are fantastic. Others are horrible. I got two keys copied and was…read morewondering where they were after 25 minutes. It was not busy. The salesperson was a nowhere near the key copying machine for 20 minutes, when I asked a cashier how long they paged this guy. When he came around after another few minutes he raised his voice at me and said "I told you it would be a minute!" I said it's been 25 minutes! At which time he began ridiculing me in front of my son and other customers. Finally, he shouted "next time you need keys made go to the Home Depot!!!" And he kept shouting. It's a short drive to Wainscott Hardware or Sp[rings Hardware.

I stopped by to pick up air filters for my air conditioner, met an associate who read the specs and handed me two filters per my request. I returned home with the two filters that was indeed the wrong size. I went back to the store to exchange the size and they told me they don't do any exchanges or refunds. I'm not sure how the heck this hardware store thinks they can stay in business. The cashier basically said your purchased it you own it. I left the unopened filter and I recommend skipping this boneheads. East Hampton Hardware or Riverhead building are the better choice.

Amazing customer service! We bought a three piece teak outdoor furniture set from Thayers more than…read morefive years ago. We noticed two braces underneath the couch were cracked even though no one over 200 lbs. sat in it. We called Thayers and Roger and Owen surprised us by picking it up, repairing it better than new and delivering it in time for our company to arrive. Personally, I have never experienced such good customer service! Thank you so much.
