Since Dr. Chang retired the care has changed. I'm just not as pleased with the service and last night I drove across town for my cleaning. I arrived and they said that I hadn't confirmed my appointment via email so it was canceled. They hadn't informed me of this. Failing to confirm an appointment reminder shouldn't mean the business cancels your appointment without even a notice. I had been meaning to switch dentists for the last year anyway so now is my chance. read more

Appointment was canceled due to covid so was notified by email that they were opening back up in June so made an appointment for early in the morning for a routine cleaning. Check in was different, but pretty easy. Once you park, you check in by text that you are here and wait in your car until they are ready for you to stagger any other clients. They will call you to ask you a few questions to make sure you are heathy and then you can go in when your chair is ready. Mask must be worn until they are ready for dental work. Upon entry, your temperature will be checked and you are offered hand sanitizer and they have you rinse your mouth before sitting in the chair. Chairs in waiting room were half turned facing the wall to encourage social distancing but wasn't there long enough to have to sit in a chair. Cleaning was the same as always. I was asked to assist a bit when my teeth were being polished but it was easy. Just had to hold something to suck the air around the aerosol as teeth were polished. Wasn't worried about germs since it is a medical office and they already do daily precautions before covid.. so after covid they would still continue their safety practices and add on whatever extra new sanitizing/cleaning methods that have been introduced. I will never go to another dentist for as long as I have Dr. Chang! I made an appointment a few weeks in advance to remove another one of my wisdom tooth that have begun to descend. Felicia was more than accommodating in finding a date and time that would work around my schedule. The day before my appointment I received a courtesy call from their office to remind me of my appointment which I love because sometimes I am a scatter brain. The morning of my appointment I walk in and was greeted very friendly and warmly by Felicia and another receptionist whose name I was not able to catch. They went over what my procedure would cost, what my insurance would cover, and what I would have to pay that day. No words can express how grateful I am that they are able to give me a student discount because they know that I am a full time student, working part time, and paying for my own medical bills. I absolutely love Dr. Chang and his whole entire staff. Once I'm called in the Dr. and his assistant waited no time to inject me with some novocaine. The wait was about 40 minutes and during that time the wonderful nice assistant came by and offered me a blanket just in case I was cold. How sweet is that?! The Dr. came back and injected me with more novocaine. Pulling out my tooth was quick and easy. He even made me laugh after pulling my tooth out. I bet the whole office was wondering, "Who laughs after getting a tooth extraction?..." Dr. Chang thoroughly went over what I can and cannot do after the extraction and made a later appointment for me because I'm considering braces. At first, I was happy with the service but then the day before my daughter was going to get her braces, they canceled. I asked what happened because they took pictures and a mold but the reason didn't make sense. They said that after further review that they can't do it. Doesn't make sense. I think they are fine for doing regular cleanings but don't come here for braces. read more

I am scared of any kind of doctor, dentist included, but not Dr. Chang! What a kind and friendly person. He always makes me feel relaxed, calm, and comfortable whenever I am in for my visits. I have had my wisdom teeth extracted by him in two sessions and I have to tell you, I was more than terrified for this operation. However, Dr. Chang did such an excellent job! I was awake the whole time and I did not feel one thing. I could tell that he really took his time when numbing me, which I very much appreciated because I have had dentists in the past that went on with the extraction even though I still had feeling in my mouth. He definitely knows what he is doing. It is not just him that I love, its his whole staff! They are nicest people around. Whenever I walk through the door, they always greet me by my first name. Dr Chang is the BEST dentist. Not sure where to start but long story short all my dentist visits have sucked on that I always end up leaving the dentist with another problem! But my sister told me about Dr. Chang and I came in to see what the fuss was all about. The crew is amazing (Felisa and Brenda) very friendly and caring! Lets just say he was God Sent!! After visiting 4 different dentists and $$$$ later he was able to fix my teeth with just a tooth removal and root canal which was way cheaper than all my other visits to the other dentists who all recommended braces which would have been on average 6,000$+ I live in Oakland and drive all the way to San Jose just for Dr. Chang so trust me you will get all your teeth problems solved lol :) So go check him out if you are looking for a new dentist / dentist family. A year back .. I had a aching tooth .. Couldn't take the pain anymore so I did a walk in..actually my friend recommended this place to me so I decided to check it out. They took me in right away . Thank god, because I was in so much pain .. I love how they took immediate action .. He prescribed some antibiotics for me and then we made a another appointment to extract my tooth. Felicia is the receptionist at the front desk .. Super nice lady love her ! If you don't have insurance don't worry .. They have a dental plan that you can buy for 1 year . They are very misleading and over priced. Because of his education he thinks he can charge more. I was horribly disappointed in his service and pricing. Now I am stuck paying 500.00 even though I had insurance. They mislead me to think they took my insurance when I called but did not. I have been going to Dr. Chang since I was 8 or 9 years old. He is fantastic. His entire staff has always been super friendly and they always remember me, my parents and my siblings. Felica is great, she always calls me if I forget to book a cleaning and tries to squeeze me in around my crazy work schedule. Dr. Chang always gives great advice on maintaining healthy teeth and he truly cares about seeing a great smile on everyone's face. They have been great about squeezing me in on the two occasions I have chipped my teeth in the past 20+ years. I have never had any major dental issues due to the wonderful preventative care Dr. Chang and his staff give to all of their patients. I will continue to go to Dr. Chang as long as he practices Dentistry! You only get one set of adult teeth, make sure you go to a great dentist like Dr. Chang!!! =) read more

Ill admit it, I am a wuss when it comes to dental work. I hate the poker needles they use on your teeth, and I cant even look at them. When I made my first appointment they made sure to make me feel like I was in control. When I arrived Dr Chang showed me he was never using the needle in my mouth and kept me very calm. I had to have a wisdom tooth removed, 2 cavities done, and a teeth cleaning. I scheduled conscious sedation for the morning so I could have it done in 1 trip. I remember falling back into the chair and nothing more, I woke up a little later and all my work was done. The next day the Dr Chang spoke to me to make sure I was doing alright and told me about what was done. Such an amazingly nice person and sweet staff. I wont go to another dentist for anything else, Dr Henry Chang is the best of the best and I recommend him for everyone! read more

If I could give this place a 100 stars out of 5 I would. This place is hands down the best dentist and establishment I have ever been too. Everyone in this office is the sweetest, kindiest, understanding staff I have ever encountered. They will make you feel as ease from the moment you walk into the office. There is a reason they get such high reviews because they truly are the salt of the earth. I have a huge fear of the dentist. I haven't gone for over 10 years plus!!! Yes! Do you know how much embarrassment that is? I been avoiding to go for the fear of the dentist and drill and all the scary things that goes with it and also the fear of looking down on as a disgusting person :( I have research and research and found Doctor Henry Chang office. They offer sedation for patient that has a fear of the scary drills that comes with it. I recommend Dr. Chang. I was very nervous before I went for my first wisdom tooth extraction. But it was a good experience. All staff there are very friendly. The whole procedure didn't take long. No body likes going to the dentist, the experience is like pulling teeth, get it? Well, in this case, I actually had to get my tooth pulled. He has his office open on Saturday once a month, and yesterday, I had my tooth pulled out to make room for braces. Very painful experience. However, the day after, Dr. Chang took time from his day off to call and check up on how I'm doing. He genuinely cares about his patients and I get that feeling every single time I step into the office. Even the reception is Genuinely was concerned and cared about my well-being after I had all four of my wisdom teeth polled same day. Mr. Chang is probably the best dentist I've ever had in my life he also really cares for his patients I did not even feel him ripping my Teeth out. He gave me the option to getting put under and when the pills didn't work as good as I wanted them to he brought out the laughing gas at my request. My stomach is also very sensitive to certain type of painkillers and he upon request gave me what I needed for the pain he was also very easy to get a hold to talk to you in person whenever I called the assistance also were extremely nice and helpful best dentist office in San Jose in my opinion. I am terrified of the dentist and went here based on good reviews. After 5 years I was afraid of how bad my teeth were. Everyone was very nice and I made it through the x-rays, cleaning and exam with a minimum of discomfort. I need 2 crowns and one replacement filling, which I hope to do in the near future. I saw Dr. Chang for the first time recently. I was looking for a Dentist who was experienced and didn't gouge you on the price. Also, someone who was personable and gentle. I received all of the above. I needed a tooth pulled and was concerned that it may have to be a surgical extraction. I swear, after I was numb, the tooth came out within 15 seconds. I found this clinic a few months ago and I'm really happy I did. I had been going to a dental clinic in downtown San Jose for uninsured patients and they had really let me down and provided me with sub-standard service. The dentists would rotate in and out of the clinic and there were a lot of new dental graduates learning on my mouth. What a relief to find Dr. Chang! I can tell he knows what he is doing and has a lot of experience. He is also really gentle and nice. I had my teeth cleaned by Yolanda and she is amazing. She did a very detailed and thorough job cleaning my teeth and she is gentle too. This is the best cleaning I have had in many years. I signed up for their plan and I'm so glad I did.
