    Belgian Waffle Breakfast
    Philip M.

We stopped in for breakfast. Wow, loved the menu, the food was delicious and service was outstanding. We had the veggie hash, breakfast burrito and Belgian waffle. We also got a single Kahlua challah French toast to try because it looked so good. All were very good, but the hash and burrito were the standouts. We also really liked the coffee, and we were told that it was from Speeder and Earl's Coffee from Burlington. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a cute little place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We look forward to our next visit.

We were on the way to Burlington from Montreal so decided to stop a little earlier in Winooskie for lunch. I ordered chicken and waffles from the breakfast menu with a glass of VT apple cider while hubby ordered the Turkey Rachel Melt and a maple milkshake. Food was good and came out quick but I did feel really rushed. Partly it was because we had just spent 4 nights in Montreal where people enjoyed their meals at a leisurely pace. However, to be asked whether we needed a box just half an hour after we got seated and 10 minutes after we got our food, just because we put our fork down for a second to chew our food seemed excessive especially since there was no one waiting.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Tucked in a cozy area here in Winooski is a cute bistro.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe gave calm and chill for breakfast.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was just *chef's kiss* I started off with the Vermont apple cider mimosa and ordered a ginger bread waffle with lemon compote, scrambled eggs and maple sausage called the jumpstart #3. Everything tasted so good. The lemon compote with gingerbread gave an amazing contrast in flavor sweet and tangy. My friend had the California eggs Benedict . [[HIGHLIGHT]]Looking out the window while having breakfast was really great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Sneakers Bistro is my go-to brunch place in the area. It's walkable, and there's enough street parking nearby. The one thing I don't love is that you can't make reservations. I saw another review that said sneakers "can't handle the traffic" and this is true. Definitely not the place to be at 1130am on a weekend. If you're going on a high traffic day, arrive at open. The eggs Benedict here are really fantastic and the primary reason I love it here. But some other great reasons are the drinks; the coffee drinks are decadent, they offer vegetarian and dairy free options for almost everything, and the brunch cocktails are creative and fun. It's a fantastic location for a casual brunch gathering. The staff here are also really lovely. So friendly, and always offered my dog a bowl of whipped cream and water. It's well lit and the portions are large. It's important to note that they are not diligent about cross-contamination. Celiacs and people with severe allergies be aware of this. I was looking forward to this place but came out very disappointed. From the quality of the food to the service, I wouldn't recommend it. We ordered the benedicts but the eggs were basically hard boiled. They definitely don't know how to poach eggs. The service was awful. Our waitress was uninterested and we had to call her to the table to even refill the coffee, something when eating at a diner should be automatic. Best part of breakfast were the home fries. The rest was forgettable. Street parking but you have to pay $1 hour.

Visit Date: Aug. 11, 2024 I met with a friend and he had suggest we go to Sneakers - naturally I gave it a shot since I'm from out of town. Overall, my experience was okay. It was great to have been seated right away on a busy Sunday brunch rush but that came with its shortcomings as we realized our server was still frantically busy. Which led to delays in our meal along with forgetting certain requests we've had. But that's not why I rated this place only a 3/5 stars as I understood the nature of being busy. The reason why Sneakers received a 3 out of 5 was because of the lackluster flavors from the Cowboy Hash and side of pancake I opted for instead of toast. I enjoy a great hash combo but the Cowboy was a bit too bland to the point that adding hot sauce and more pepper was needed to elevate its taste. The pancake was okay at best as well - a bit too dry and needed to be supplemented by more butter/syrup than I would've liked. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, the ambiance of the place was super nice, it was cute, decor on the walls, staff, and patrons, were all pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It really was just the food this time around, unfortunately. I may give it another go in the future though!

    Home fries

I went today for brunch , We had put our name on the online wait-list while we were still at home, it gave us the wait times so we could calculate when we needed to leave the house , a soon as we got there our table was ready , I'm very happy with the system. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was comfortable , we could hear ourselves talking,so it wasn't overly noisey[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I ordered the lemon poppy seed waffle with a blueberry sauce (it was hidden underneath the waffle) I couldn't taste the lemon poppy flavor, the blueberry compote was good. I just wished that they had cooked the waffle abit longer as it was a bit soggy. The homefries were large pieces but tasted a bit mealy and a little under cooked, There wasn't any seasoning , potatoes need seasoning while cooking , maybe a bit of pepperika , I would have loved the option of onions and peppered to add , I don't believe the potatoes were cooked on the grill but maybe fried in the fryer just to turn it sightly brown. I miss those greasy crunchy bits. my fellow diners at the table all seem to be enjoying their foods an assortment of lunch or breakfast items. Except for the potatoes

The food was phenomenal, I just wouldn't recommend coming on a holiday weekend or a graduation weekend/Monday. It's a lovely small business that can't handle the traffic. You can put your name on a waitlist via their website, but then you have to be diligent about letting them know you've arrived (our young family members were anything but diligent!) Get the pancakes! They were actually better than my own homemade ones! If you're vegan, the hash was soooo tasty! Everything was absolutely delish. Even the coffee!

This was mainly due to the great service and delicious meals ordered by each of us in our family of three. Our table was never left waiting and the food was served hot. Our meal choices were varied, including apps such as steak tartar and cheddar ale soup for one and the meatloaf plate and the turkey burger for the others. Everything was made with original flavor additions such as homemade sauces, fresh breads, and unique use of herbs and spices. Lastly, I was told to mention that the hand cut fries were exceptional. Since we visit Burlington often, we look forward to returning to the Farmhouse to try other dishes on their menu or just ordering the same meals since they were so good. We all agreed that this restaurant has definately moved to the top of the list for our next trip to Vt.

The last time my bf and I went we ordered a special which was Dan Dan noodles with pork, the cheeseburger, and burrata with bruschetta to start. All of the food was full of flavor and fair portion size. Restaurant poco does not take reservations in advance. It's easier to get a seat in spring summer or fall when they open up their outdoor seating and so can host more guests. You have to go to put your name on the wait list regardless of the season and even in summertime with more seating it can be a 20-40min wait. They play good funky music which can sometimes be overwhelmingly loud inside (I.e. a jock jam will be playing at club volume level), that's one of my few complaints. You can be at a two person table and only a few feet away from your dinner date but not always hear them. This happens mostly just during the winter. Outdoor seating is nice with outdoor lights and easy to see and hear whomever you're dining with. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone as they always have great tasting food and good drinks. A little on the pricier side, but worth it.

Deep City was a recommendation for brunch from a local. It is the sister restaurant to Foam Brewers (right next door). When we walked in there was a small wait but not bad. We headed over to the brewery to grab coffee and to check it out. It is definitely a cool spot. They have a huge selection of beer, a small wine program (who knew) and small bites. Unfortunately they did not have TVs or else we would've come back to watch the football game but we did purchase some beer before heading back over for brunch at Deep City. The menu here is a little more Mexican-forward think Huevos Rancheros, but there was still plenty of items that looked appealing. We split the banana bread with maple walnut cream cheese (to die for) to share as an app which was fresh and delicious. I also ordered a fruit cup which was also good. We then shared their Huevos Verdes which is similar to Huevos Rancheros except it came with a tomatillo salsa. It was good but very sloppy to eat. Overall it was a great experience, and service was phenomenal. A great brunch place while visiting Burlington VT.
