I've been coming here for years now, and it is very convenient because of its proximity to the Arlington heights train station. A 2 minute walk and you're there! The basic manicure is $14, pedi, $25, mani & pedi $36 (F-S) or $33(M-Th) I've found the time you go and the person you get can really make a difference with your nail job. I wouldn't recommend the absolute last part of the day, as it feels more rushed and less focused. The venue is clean, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, and the technicians don't chat amongst each other. I enjoy the movies they play on the TV, and there is always the most recent OPI nail polish available which I always appreciate. With that being said, the nails themselves are just okay. I've had my basic manicure last 1.5 weeks sometimes, and other times on occasion it chipped in a few days. Which any nail job, I suggested not showering in hot water the first day after getting your nails done (an old wives tail I follow). Came in on a Friday at 5:30pm and they were able to accommodate a walk in, which I appreciated. My manicure was done by one technician, which was absolutely great. The pedicure was done by another technician, and was just average and very rushed. 3 other customers were sitting in the pedicure chairs as I sat down, and my pedicure was already completed while they all were still on the foot massage or cuticles. Conveniently located at the end of the street and, after my first visit Saturday, my new nail salon! I made an appointment and the person to whom I spoke was very friendly. I showed up 7 minutes late (not because I'm awful, but because the power in my bathroom went out mid shower... time to yelp an electrician) and was a little concerned to see every chair full and further concerned no one greeted me. I took a seat next to nice woman waiting for her 2 little grand daughters and mentioned I hadn't been greater. She told me she's been going here 10 years, and not you worry the owner was great and definitely knew I was there. Sure enough, they finished one of the kiddos a moment later and I was greeted and seated. The woman who did my pedicure was very sweet and very thorough. A different woman did my manicure and wad also very nice and did a lovely job. I definitely loved the shoulder rub while my hands were wrapped in the hot towel. A welcome treat! Serenity now. A sigh of relief comes over me as I step into Hera Nail Salon, because I know it is time for me to be pampered and relax. :) There is no chihuahua pitched yapping back and forth. There is no blaring music. There is no television from the 80's (antenna and all) playing a soap opera or a show in a language I cannot understand. Just peace and quiet. The salon is bright and clean. When you walk in, there is a coat rack directly to your left. Behind the coat rack, there is an array of magazines to choose from that you can read as you get your lil piggies painted up as you sit in their comfortable pedicure chairs. Faintly they play tranquil instrumental background music, some familiar songs, some not so familiar. As your nails are being done, you face a flat screen TV that plays movies (mostly romantic) muted with subtitles. Perf! Prices have increased since I first started going, but only by a few dollars, which still puts them at a fair price. Monday through Thursday mani-pedi's use to be $26, which is a steal, especially at a nicer nail salon like Hera. As of June 1st, 2012 the price has gone up to $30 for a mani-pedi Monday through Thursday. Still a good rate in my opinion. Fridays and Saturdays a mani-pedi will run you $33. If you are interested in a French manicure or a little design of some sort, it will cost you a few buckaroos more. The ladies that work at Hera are very professional, friendly, and accommodating. In my experiences, they have always done great job. If you're a little indecisive mess, like myself, they are happy to test out a few colors on your nails prior to help you decide. When you are finished, they will walk you over to the drying station, so you may put your nails under the UV lights for about ten minutes, or however long your heart desires. Most of the time, a short little shoulder massage comes along with it! Now they do take walk-ins, but I'd advise you to make an appointment. And when you do make an appointment, make sure you bring some cash for a tip, because it is not able to be left on your credit card. I do give other nail places a try once in awhile, but I always come back to Hera. Why do I bother trying to fix something that isn't broke? Hera Nails deserves 5 stars for allowing me to relax! You should give them the opportunity to treat you to some relaxation, as well. And if you're a dude reading this, who isn't that into the mani-pedi thing for themselves, then maybe you should just go pick up a gift certificate to treat your girlfriend, wife, sister, or mom...you have to have at least one of those, right?? read more

What I love about Hera Nail Salon is they offer the great prices I've come to expect for my mani/pedi but not the same hectic atmosphere. It's much more relaxing here which led me to book myself and four girlfriends in for some R&R pre-wedding. They have a good variety of colors, take their time on things and if you have any issues, they are happy to fix you right up. I love the massage chairs - so relaxing and peaceful. The ladies that work here are all really nice and for the most part, very quiet. That for me is a welcome change compared to people yelling all about when I'm trying to get my fancy on. Not gonna lie, but I wait the entire hour for that 60 second shoulder massage right at the end. Ahhhh~ Mani/pedi is $30 during the week and $33 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We hosted my daughter's bridal party for a little girls day before the wedding. They were great. Allowed us to bring in treats, champagne, our own music and video to play. There were 10 of us, and the ladies accommodated us very nicely. The pedicure chairs are so comfy, and with 6 in one area and manicures up front, we were all able to communicate and be together while enjoying the services. I posted pics. I have been coming to Hera Nails for years and it's my favorite place...for many reasons! I really like how flexible they are...if you arrive a few minutes early, they can often take you and on the other hand, if you happen to arrive a few minutes late, no one is upset! I love their shop as it is very spacious and has a calming environment. I like that I can watch cooking shows on the TV monitor. I like that I can sit quietly and don't have to make chit chat with anyone. They always do a great job! I really wanted to like this place. It's conveniently located, it is clean and the atmosphere is very relaxing. They have soft spa like music playing and you can get a chair massage while getting a pedicure. The downside is the staff. I was getting a manicure and a pedicure at the same time. I had one woman working on my hands while the other worked on my feet. During this time, both women completely ignored me while speaking to each other in their native language. I know they were able to speak English as I had heard them speaking in English prior to my appointment. One of the women laughed at something the other woman said as they both looked at my feet. I've been with Hera nails for about 5 years now... every 2 weeks no chip mani and pedi. I've been Sonny's customer, Janes customer and Dalias customer and recently Julie's customer. I've always struggled to find matching colors, but I still was that dedicated customer. However I have to say this last time was the end for me. I went in on Saturday for the same service I notice my nails were being filed way too close on the sides I mentioned it to Julie and she continues on.... my nails felt so weak which shouldn't with no chip, Monday 2 nails broke, I called Sonny I explained I really think it's because maybe my nails weren't under the heater long enough or the polish to it... so she asked me to come in and she would fix it. I came in today and wow what a difference a day makes. I've never ever felt mistreated so badly.... making accusations of your dedicated customer of 5 years is pretty harsh, so I couldn't sit there and let her talk to me in that manner. You are a business owner I'm not a first time client I've been with Sonny far too long to be dismissed like it's all me, and not her cheap quality of polish, or her girls not knowing how to file, or do no chip correctly. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It's not okay to treat anyone let alone one of your long time clients that way. read more

You can get an immaculate manicure and spa pedicure for $26 Mondays through Thursdays, which leave me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I enjoy the mani/pedi special here - the polish definitely does last! I have been going here for years and will continue to do so with the convenient location. However, even with an appointment, I have had to wait 5-10 minutes before and in between my mani or pedi. Since I have been pressed for time a few occasions, it was an uncomfortable thing to watch as there were too many people being serviced in addition to the appoitments. Back to the positive - it smells great in there and the massage chairs actually do effectively massage! Also, they play pretty recent movies on an extremely clear flatscreen tv - with instrumental renditions of pop music playing in the background. I live in the condos right next to Hera, and there are MANY choices in the downtown Arlington Heights area. I have tried ALL of them, and Hera is the best around. They are often very busy, and they are not the friendliest/chattiest, but I do not like a manicurist that insists on talking to me. They have a great selection of colors, and I don't know what they do, but their manicures last a FULL WEEK for me! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is bc I don't think they take enough time with a mani/pedi. Very minimal massaging and lotion application. Over all I would definitely reccomend Hera. This was the worst nail experience I have ever had! We made appointments two days ahead of time and still ended up waiting a half hour before we were seen. No one said hello when we walked in nor were we asked what we were there for. - which could've been overlooked if the rest of the experience wasn't awful! Additionally, they were very rude to two older women who came in to ask if there was any openings for that night. The workers never spoke a word to us and were the most miserable looking people I have ever seen. Not one part of the entire process was relaxing or felt good. The girl I had was constantly wiping her nose and then working on my nails, and the equipment wasn't cleaned between clients. The client next to me had a nail technician who was constantly getting up to text and then coming back to her client and putting her entire head on the table to sleep while rubbing her clients hands. The actual manicure was chipped within an hour. The salon as dirty and did not look very well taken care of. I do not suggest to go here on any account. read more
