If there were negative stars to choose from, I would pick those. Absolutely terrible experience- to the point where I'm not sure if I should cry or laugh. I don't usually go to this place but my regular nail salon was fully booked. I made an appointment ahead of time. As I arrived, the usual- they said hi, were nice, I picked a color and sat down. Boy did I not know what I was in for. The manicurist hands were so dry and cracked, HER DEAD SKIN WAS FLAKING ONTO MINE as she was massaging my hands. I almost threw up. Oh, I'm not exaggerating. I have never had this happen and I've been getting my nails done for over 10 years. Oh and then the best part. So she made it pretty clear that she had another appointment after me and obviously double scheduled. She was rushing and didn't even try to make it look subtle. Made one of my cuticles bleed because she was cutting them pretty fast and then the actually painting of the nails. A bit of background before she started painting. There was little fan at the desk we were sitting at and she turned it to face her directly (away from me) because she said she was hot. Okay great, no problem- doesn't bother me. So when the painting started, I have never seen someone paint nail polish as sloppy as she did. My color was light so I asked for 3 coats. After she was done, it looked like a 5 year kid had done it. It was all over my cuticles, uneven coats, and just looked terrible. She walked me to the drying station and then I said something about it. This is the best part, she blamed ME for how it looked. She said I got too close to the fan. Oh, you mean the fan pointed at your face, that was no where near me? YEAH, that fan. Needless to say, I'm sure anyone reading this review knows I will never go back. Besides not fixing the problem (she put on another coat of nail polish after I complained. I dried my nails for at least 45 min, sitting there, and they still got all messed up when I got home), she BLAMED ME, right to my face, saying I was too close to the fan. So as you may conclude, I'm not sure whether to cry or laugh. read more

Very pleased with the quality of no chip manicure. It is a little more pricey $35 than other no chips, but only by $5. The owner gave me the manicure, she was very fast which i super appreciated. She got perfectly close to the cuticle, without leaving too much of a gap which is important to me as my nails grow quickly. I'll definitely go back. read more

I've been coming here for a couple years since I moved back to the suburbs. I'll never go anywhere else. Dylan is a total professional and I always leave happy. The atmosphere is extremely laid back and the people are down to earth. I'm usually quite indecisive about my colors and they're always patient with me. Trudy is great too and she does a great job on doing additional details. At Christmas she did a snowman design and it looked great! They're also very accommodating schedule-wise. My #1 favorite thing about this place is the atmosphere here. Most northwest suburban nail salons feel kind of uncomfortable; a bunch of catty girls sizing each other up. This place is so cool. Dylan is just awesome at socializing, and bringing people together. It's just easier to socialize casually (or comfortably keep to yourself) at this place. I go here for waxing and manicures, so I can't speak for how they do acrylics. But I'm always very happy with these 3, and don't like going anywhere else. Trudi usually does my nails and she is incredibly friendly. She does my eyebrows too and I'm always happy with the result (very consistent!) I should also mention that my grandma comes here and has Dylan do her nails (weekly?), and she is the one who recommended this place to me. She has pretty high standards for everything, and she'd probably give this place an A+ too if she used Yelp! read more

Just saw a man come in who was told that he couldn't make an appointment do you a previous " no call no show" (does he work here) So basically this nail pit punishes you in some petty asshole fashion? Then he explains that someone else told him to come early and they weren't ready and that he came back for the original appointment and they still weren't ready. My question is how is that a "no call no show" if he was according to her to early and then in time and then left. She then spent what seemed like 20 min looking for his appointment that wasn't in the appointment book. Is this how we treat our buffalo grove community. Maybe it was race motivated. Passing through Chicago, and stopped here for a pedi. The people were REALLY nice, and they did a fantastic job w/ my french. Paraffin treatment and hot stones felt really good. I asked right away for hot water, and they had no problem doing so. The conversation was comfortable and so was the silence. I was really happy with the service all around! The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the decor isn't as nice as some places I've been to, but because it was clean and looked nice, it wasn't a problem. The decor just wasn't exceptional. Service, however, was exceptional. At a lot of nail places, the nail techs will speak to each other in another language while they work. Here, they were friendly enough that the few times they weren't speaking English, the guy would translate for me. He was also really patient and accommodating when I was being picky about the shape, the color, the width of the tip on my French, etc. If I were local, I would DEFINITELY go back. read more

Dropped my girl off to get her nails done 4 hours before they closed, they had plenty of time to do the pedicure and her nails, 4 hours $75 later and a very upset girlfriend, i've never seen her nails in such a bad condition, the guy that did her nails was very nice but new the ending result is awful!!! The most horrible part is after he was done with the nails the owner painted them she knew that it was a horrible job did not say a thing and painted them over, The reason I say that she knew is because it is obvious and even to a guy !!!! The owner should have said something and re do everything and she rushed her out! Came here a day before New Years, had an OK experience--cant complain though because it was obviously one of the craziest days at a nail salon. Decided to come back 2 weeks later. Previously the owner (Colin?) did my nails, I called and made an appointment and got one with a girl who was apparently the owners niece. Im not one to judge, but she didn't look like she was into hygiene. But either way, I gave it a chance! From the moment she grabbed me with her UNBELIEVABLY dry and cracked hands I knew this was a mistake. Her bra straps were all over the place and her shirt was completely crooked... Looked like she just got up from bed...and maybe even hung over. Not to mention this girl had DIRT under her nails. You work at a nail salon. What happened to feeling pampered and relaxed? NONE THE LESS--I still sat there with a smile on my face. As she started to do my nails (I just needed a fill). She started to tell me that whoever did my nails last did a horrible job and they didn't put the nails on right...so she has to take them off and charge me for a brand new set. Little does she know her very own uncle, owner, did my nails 2 weeks ago!! Either way, I went with it..trying to be polite and just get this experience over with. She proceeded to have "conversation" with me...telling me about what she likes to eat and how she needs to go grocery shopping...and how some guy was rude to her at the deli. HELP...Ill rather sit there in dead silence than listen about your chores for half an hour. She then asked if she could use my debit card to pay for her cell phone bill..because she only receives cash and you can only pay with a card online. Your kidding right? I will never EVER go to this place again, in fact I drive past it every single day from work and back and laugh. DO NOT GO THERE. Oh and PS, my nails only lasted 2 days. My Mother is a nail tech so for me to go some where else, id have to be pretty desperate. I used to come to this place like 4 years ago and I stopped because I hated how they did my nails. About 6 months ago, I was going on vacation and needed a pedicure really bad and my mom was busy. I decided to give this place one more try and asked for Tina. I came here on Friday 9/20 for a no chip acrylic set and a pedicure. First of all, they must not have air conditioning because I was sweating within the first five minutes of my pedicure. And I wasn't alone. The woman in the chair next to me had to ask for multiple bottles of water to cool off. I finished my pedicure, which was definitely subpar at best, and moved to the no chip acrylic manicure. The woman did a good job at first, but once I got home I discovered that the polish was still squishy and clearly not cured long enough. I asked the lady if I should do another round under the light because usually I do three rounds but she said no. Within a few hours of leaving the salon, my no chip had not only chipped but also bubbles up. It was completely messed up. I was unable to go back that day so I went back the next day to ask for it to be fixed. The owner was not very friendly about it, but quickly fixed it for me at no charge. That's the only reason I'm giving more than 1 star. Now it is Tuesday 9/24 (only four days after the first visit) and my pedicure has chipped on at least three toes. Attached a picture to show how badly it chipped. I'm extremely frustrated because I was told this was a great salon and I spent a considerable amount of money there, just for all of the nails to become messed up somehow. Came here a lot back when I was in high school. The owner dillan had legit nail techs and very pleasant to have conversation with. After years going to the city, I was in the area so decided to stop by to get no chip mani. The 2 stars are for Mason for being nice and did a wonderful job doing my nails. Just how it was whenever I come there. On the other hand, there's a girl that works there that I thought was completely rude!!! Please avoid by any chance. It took me a lot not to say anything or should I say I almost walked out. Thank God she didn't do my nails! Very bad hygiene, bad mouth & the worst attitude I have ever experienced in a nail salon. I asked if they had a Cinderella line she said yes. Then I asked do you have swatches she goes UHH THATS WHY YOU LOOK OVER THERE IN A LOUD, NO PATIENCE ATTITUDE WAY. Like seriously we customers try to relax and do a no stress day but if coming to a nail salon whom we spend money on will just stress me out. Do not go here, and if you do avoid Trudy at all costs! She is loud, rude and rough. I had two areas where I was bleeding after I received my pedicure. I like to relax and enjoy the experience when I get my nails done. I have been to the shop several times. I stopped going for awhile because of how disturbing she was. Then I went back and tried other techs, none of them knew what they were doing. Then I got Trudy again, and I thought, ok I'll give her another chance. I walked in right after work for my appointment the lady sat me down to start my nails. Another customer walked in, she was checking herself in on the iPad they have, the lady was asking questions and said that she didn't know how to use it. The lady who was working snatched the iPad from her told her she would do it for her in a very rude tone, and told her to go sit down. While she was doing my nails, I asked for them to be cut down, she cut them down a little bit and didn't ask me if they were fine, while she was buffing my nails, she actually hurt me a few times and never said anything like "I'm sorry" "are you okay?". For the color I wanted a matte black with gold glitter, the matte on my nails were not even, (it was bumpy) and the matte wasn't covering all the way. I also wanted my eye brows waxed, I told her that I just wanted a clean up and the arch to still be there, her response was "if there is an arch at the end". She then proceeded to take off a good portion of my eye brows, leaving no arch, leaving the ends very thin, and I have more thicker eyebrows that I like to keep fuller and clean. I am never going back to this salon, she was very disrespectful and rude. If you are looking for a good place, DONT GO HERE! read more
