Dry drunken noodles.
Bridgett J.

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. Very disappointed after many years of eating at Herb and Spice. Everything thing we ordered was wrong. Drunken noodles, were dry, pasty and flavorless. Chicken tasted like it had been microwaved into jerky. Called them with our issue , and they absolutely did not apologize for the quality of food. Like I said, we have been eating with them for years and never a problem. Sadly, we will find another Thai restaurant.

Spicy eggplant

Our first time here and our party of four enjoyed a quick early dinner. The dishes appeared to be more home style, although still the commercialized menu for the American palate. The only thing I noticed was that most of the dishes were on the sweeter side, raising a concern for lots of hidden sugars. Service was outstanding; our server was so polite and attentive. Our favorite flavor, interestingly, was of the chicken teriyaki (which isn't Thai). And, the chicken satay was also great.

"Large Thai Tea" and "Spicy" fried rice

I have been ordering from this Herb and Spice for years. I get the same thing, spicy fried rice and a Thai Tea. Ordered tonight from doordash and when the food arrived I was extremely disappointed, my fried rice came with absolutely NO spice, they completely forgot the spices all together. Usually their spicy fried rice will include chili flakes is a fried color. My rice is 50% white rice. My wife ordered yellow curry and her chicken was 50% fatty chicken that was not editable. Also, my Large $7 thai team was small and full of ice making even less drink. Where my disappointment really came in was when I called the restaurant and a gentleman answered. I explain the situation. After putting me on hold for 5 minutes he came back on the line and asked if my rice came with bell peppers. I replied saying yes but it's missing the spice. He said.. that is our spicy fried rice so you got exactly what you ordered, if you want to drive here and bring it back we will add the spice that was missed and give it back to you. Also he said that the regular size drink is now their large. Service here is normally amazing and helpful. Not sure what has changed in the last month but looks like we will have to find a new Thai restaurant in simi.

Duck Noodle Soup
Jude A.

I ordered the duck soup for lunch, and I ordered hot jasmine tea for my beverage. The duck soup was incredibly delicious. The broth was very flavorful, and the duck was fantabulous. The tea was very good as well. The ambiance was pretty chill, and the server was very responsive. I also enjoyed the classical music playing in the background.

Thai fried rice w chicken $15

Great Thai food restaurant in Simi Valley. We ordered the Thai fried rice with chicken and the pad see ew and they were both good. Fresh Ingredients and the chicken didn't have any fatty pieces so that's always good. Service was amazing and the water with lemon was a nice extra touch. We will be back

Pad See U Lunch Special
Justin K.

I ordered the pad see ew, which is like the one dish all Thai restaurant have after pad Thai. Oh boy it was so salty I could not finish it. The pork was very tough as well. The soup that came with the lunch special was tasty and had a lot of vegetables. According to others in my party, their pad Thai and yellow curry were "okay" Thankfully the wait staff were very nice and understanding and gave me a refund for the pad see ew.

Beef salad
Betty H.

I really wanted to like this place to support small businesses that seem hidden but unfortunately I won't be returning. We ordered the chicken drunken noodles, beef salad and honey pork ribs. The noodles were soggy and flavorless and chicken rubbery, the beef salad was the worst I've ever had. Pork ribs were at least edible but that's it! I do not recommend this place. I was very disappointed.

They don't give you rice when you order any of their Curry plates. Insane! And it did not state this anywhere online where I ordered from! They're just .... Sauce. Smh wish I had of not tried this place and just stuck to one of the other two Thai places within less than a mile. The kitchen, is kind of open, but you cannot see it, just off the seating tables. Still, the aroma from the cooking does not smoke out the area. There is one chef, also the one taking the orders. At least this is true, during the weekend lunch hours. I visit for the carry out lunch specials, this time, their Penang Curry with beef. Once again, the meat was deliciously tender, not a chewy piece in the mix. The curry had the right viscosity, not overdone creaminess, smooth and silky texture, infused with a simple yet impressive marriage of heat and spices. Service here, like the food, has been consistent, dependable and impressive.

The Japanese Sukiyaki base was perfectly mild and flavorful -- exactly what I needed. Paired with tender chicken and fresh veggies, it hit the spot without being heavy. Service was super friendly and attentive (shoutout to Alina for the great service! ). Portions are generous for the price, and the quality is top-tier. I also grabbed a simple hot tea that was perfect. This place is a true fusion win: authentic Thai flavors + customizable hot pots + excellent boba. Family-owned vibes shine through in every bite. If you're in the Westlake Village / Thousand Oaks area, do yourself a favor and go. I'll definitely be back soon -- highly recommend! Pro tip: Try the mini hot pot with Sukiyaki or Miso and chicken. When I came to enter my review, I see that we did take-out from here last year. Gave them another try, and still find the Pad See Ew under-sauced and under-flavored. I added some coconut aminos (less sodium than soy sauce) to the dish, and that helped some. But the lack of tangy sauciness that I hoped for was a disappointment again. This time they were generous with the chicken and the green veggies, and I appreciate that. The portion size is also good. I will get two meals out of one to-go serving. I wish that I felt up to cooking and experimenting with a recipe for a Thai-inspired Pad See Ew sauce. I would use that to wake up the taste when I have the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The inclusion of a small container of chopped peanuts made for a suitably tasty and crunchy topping for the dish. DH said, "I thought you didn't like peanuts." I like peanuts just fine; I just find peanut sauce too much at times. The crushed peanuts work well as compliment to this dish.
