    Pad Thai so good!
    Christel G.

Yummy Pad Thai and nice folks! It's a small place with about 6 tables. I usually take-out.

Pretty solid Thai restaurant. Got their pad Thai and pad see ew which both tasted exactly how I wanted them. Got my order to-go but would dine-in next time as the space is very clean and the people friendly. Also read a review about their desserts which has me for sure wanting to come back as they sound amazing.

I love how fresh the food was, let me just say that! Everything came out piping hot. The staff that helped us was kind. The food was delicious, but could use a little more salt or spice to it. Otherwise I definitely recommend trying this cute little Thai restaurant out!

Didn't know this place was here, glad we do now! Food was great, service was good and it was a quiet dinner.

    Spicy eggplant with fried tofu

Unexpectedly one of the best Thai food I have had. Larger sized portions, and quick service. I walked in for a ToGo order and the food was in the containers lined with foil so the juices did not spill and the food retained its heat. The spring rolls maintained their crispy texture with zero sogginess. The dipping sauce is very good as well. The spicy eggplant is very delicious. Plenty of veggies and the friend tofu is a perfect compliment to this dish. (Rice is not included). The mango sticky rice is a must get! I will definitely return here again and again. Easy free parking. Clean interior. Nice staff and prices are great for the portion size and quality of food.

    House Fried Rice Lunch Special
    Shelby C.

I get the house fried rice with chicken and ask them to make it spicy. They don't disappoint with the spice but the rice is lacking a bit of flavor. Overall still a good dish. Chicken is usually always tender and juicy. I have also had the drunken noodles which is very tasty. They have a decent lunch special where they give you soup, salad, and an egg roll with whatever dish you choose. Portions are good but the price has gone up from 10.95 to 11.95 Will be trying the yellow curry next.

Ambiance The environment was very relaxing, although definitely small. Food We ordered the Mentaiko Chicken Tonkatsu as well as the Chicken Wonton Soup ramen. The soup did not come out as hot as we would have liked, it felt like it was just warmed. Although the chicken wonton soup came with a clear broth, we felt that it was oily. The actual chicken wontons had a good flavor and texture. The dish was simple but was sufficient. The mentaiko chicken tonkatsu ramen felt like it lacked depth despite being a tonkatsu broth. Although, the chicken that topped the dish was very flavorful and seemed to be marinated well. The noodles were the classic texture and the topping for me felt standard. Service Our waitress was nice, but it definitely felt a bit understaffed and we were forgotten about (I don't blame her since we were taking our time with the menu).

Their voicemail message continues to say "temporarily closed." So I started searching closer to home, which is a challenge because I don't usually view any Simi Valley restaurant as being worthy of our patronage... yet, I searched anyway. I found Bao Su on Yelp, so we decided to give them a try based on other Yelper reviews. Bottom line is that my husband and I were incredibly impressed with their food, not to mention, happy that it is so much closer. We ordered the following (takeout): Shrimp Fried Rice Shrimp with Lobster Sauce Szechuan Style Eggplant Sizzling Chicken Mongolian Beef I had a bit of a problem deciphering their menu because there weren't a lot of details as to ingredients, so I took chances and prayed they were dishes we've had before. Everything was delicious, plentiful and mostly recognizable... with the exception of the shrimp with lobster sauce. That was more soup-like and watered down from what we're used to, but it was still really good. All dishes were loaded with protein and vegetables, well seasoned and sauced, and textures were soft or crunchy, just as we knew them to be... and just as we loved them. We've since ordered from them again, and they were (very happily) consistently delicious. We are sooooooo happy to now have a LOCAL Chinese restaurant that we can trust and enjoy. We may even dine there and not do the takeout thing for a change. (I really would like to ask them what some of their other dishes are on the menu cuz I would like more options, truth be told. However, if the dishes above are the only ones I would ever choose to order, I'm fine with that, too.)

You definitely get your money's worth here, and nothing felt rushed or generic. What really made the experience stand out was the shop owner, Emmy (apologies if I'm misspelling her name). She was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and took the time to chat with us, which made the visit feel personal rather than transactional. That kind of warmth goes a long way and is honestly rare these days. Great food, generous portions, and genuine hospitality. I'll absolutely be back and will be recommending this place to others.

When I came to enter my review, I see that we did take-out from here last year. Gave them another try, and still find the Pad See Ew under-sauced and under-flavored. I added some coconut aminos (less sodium than soy sauce) to the dish, and that helped some. But the lack of tangy sauciness that I hoped for was a disappointment again. This time they were generous with the chicken and the green veggies, and I appreciate that. The portion size is also good. I will get two meals out of one to-go serving. I wish that I felt up to cooking and experimenting with a recipe for a Thai-inspired Pad See Ew sauce. I would use that to wake up the taste when I have the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The inclusion of a small container of chopped peanuts made for a suitably tasty and crunchy topping for the dish. DH said, "I thought you didn't like peanuts." I like peanuts just fine; I just find peanut sauce too much at times. The crushed peanuts work well as compliment to this dish.

Was surprised to find such an authentic spot for Chinese in Oak Park!…read more I came by for a Mother's Day lunch with my family. When we arrived around 1 pm, the restaurant was maybe half full. But clearly it was popular as people were coming in constantly the entire time we were eating. Even though the restaurant is called Yunnan Restaurant, most of the dishes on the menu were more like Sichuan dishes i.e. spicy. All of the food was super solid and portions were ginormous. My recommendation is to order 1 dish per person if you want leftovers, or order one less dish than the # of people if you want to finish most of the food. I don't handle spice very well, so we ordered a mix of spicy and non-spicy dishes. We shared the following: #1 Yunan rice noodles ($16.99) #32 scallion pancake ($8.99) #104 Chong qing fried chicken ($16.99) #107 braised pork belly with buns ($19.99) #109 boiled two items - fish and duck blood ($21.99) Given that the restaurant is called Yunnan Restaurant, we felt like we had to order one of the most popular dishes from that region, the Yunan rice noodles i.e. crossing the bridge noodles. I really enjoyed the silky smooth mixian noodles as well as the flavorful broth. The fried chicken was too spicy for me; I ate one piece and my whole mouth was on fire. Everyone else said it was quite spicy as well, so eat this in moderation unless you can really handle your spice. The 3 pepper signs next to this dish on the menu are no joke! The braised pork belly was delicious, but portions were on the smaller side for this one. Still, I enjoyed making a little bun sandwich with the pork belly and pickled veggies. The boiled fish and duck blood was also super solid. It was just a little spicy, so I was able to manage a couple pieces with the help of rice on the side. Portions were very generous for this dish. We all ate lots of fish and duck blood and still had a ton left to take home. They also have some precooked 涼菜, i.e. cold dishes, on the side you can buy for dine-in or to go. We got 3 of the meats - pork tongue, pork head, and and beef tripe, to go. Paid $16.99 for a huge box of these meats. We thought this was a steal too. Can't wait to try some at home!

The bulgogi was bland and lacked the flavor you'd normally expect from Korean BBQ. Cheese corn, but it was overloaded with mayo to the point that it completely overpowered the dish. Instead of tasting cheesy and balanced, it felt overly saturated and unappetizing ( Jizz Corn appearance). The posted menu prices appeared cheaper than what we were actually charged, which was frustrating. We went around noon and requested bean sprouts, but they were already out. It's surprising for an all-you-can-eat restaurant to run out of a basic appetizer that early in the day. The nonstop music became overwhelming after a while, and the server kept asking if we were done eating, which made us feel rushed. It wasn't until the next day that my girlfriend noticed there was apparently a 2-hour seating limit listed on the menu. That would have been helpful to know upfront instead of feeling pressured throughout the meal. Overall, not the experience we expected.

It's one of those classic Simi hole-in-the-wall places that's probably been here forever, quietly serving good food without all the hype. The quality is solid. The chicken and beef both had a nice smoky flavor, and the meats were tender and juicy. The vegetables were cooked perfectly (still fresh with a little bite), and the rice was fluffy and tasted fresh. Everything felt freshly made.
