Decent sandwiches but rude service. Been there 3 times and same lady was rude each time for no reason. They made a mistake treated me like it was my fault. Another time she Got rude with me because I wanted to leave a tip. Last time I went she just was rude while I'm trying to order, I just decided I'd rather not deal with her anymore. (Disclaimer: this review is for my 1 visit, our 2 sandwiches and the overall experience. They have a lot of food options, salads, and more, and a food amount of regulars who have a lot of great things go to say) 1 star to support a small, local place routed in their traditions of being a deli and a liquor store. It's a small place, cramped in several regards but you get what your stuff and move on (no seating). Cheesesteak - idk how they made this. No evidence of a grill. The bread was the best part. Asked for fried onions and got raw. Asked for hots and, nope! It was ok, "mid" as the kids say. Turkey sub - an avg turkey sub, but for the price of $10... for a small, there's a guy named Mike down the street who will make you a better sub. Been here. Tried it. No plans to return. Also, liquor store prices are inflated. read more

Herb on the curb screwed up our sub order. A Italian with no onions and cheese steak extra cheese both were large and he gave them his number they gave him the order but it wasn't a large. He found out when he got home the mistake. My guess is they realized their mistake and said he had a choice to pick up the ones there and pay the difference for their mistake. Not acceptable solution. I went down with the wrong order and tossed it on the counter and the older woman was ticked off told me to leave called me numerous foul names and threatened to kick my ass. Continued to call me Bitc& and other names. The other woman was nice and tried to get the other woman to leave me alone but it didn't work. She gave me the correct order and I left listening to that woman yelling at me. Really disappointed because we use to go there often and never had any issues. read more

Any other time I've been here, its been great. Not so much today. Ordered a roast beef/extra swiss w/lettuce, tomatoes, dills and mayo. Other sandwich was an Italian w/lettuce, tomatoes and a little bit of oil and vinegar. Got home, roast beef had L, T, and a little bit of oil and vinegar. I don't know why this place gets so much hate on here. Is the cheesesteak the best? Ok, no. I admit. But have you had the Italian or the Turkey sub? Best bang for the buck within 20 miles. Let's tackle the liquor cost. This is a small place that purchases small quantities, which is why prices are higher. It's for convenience! People are so ignorant to the way purchasing works. Oh no, herbs isn't as cheap as Costco...waaahhhh Here's an idea, support your local family run businesses. Frankly, I endorse this cool little deli. 100% markup on a mid shelf bottle of vodka ($40 for a standard size bottle of Grey Goose when it's normally $20 or so). Attempted to return the bottle about 5 minutes later before leaving after realizing how expensive it was but the manager refused and said all sales are final. Cashier, however, was empathetic to me. I have been coming into Herb's for over 20 years. I get my lottery tickets there at least three different days. For the majority of times the ladies who work there take my numbers with no problem at all. In fact, while they are punching out my tickets, we are having a nice conversation. Well, that has ended, I am sorry to say. This time I got a man, don't know his name but he has brown died hair. I assume he is the owner. Well, he attempted to take my numbers and started to punch them out. I knew something was wrong when he quoted my bill for the numbers. I checked them and there were numerous mistakes and the bill was incorrect. When he tried to rectify, he started getting rattled and shaky. He then told me in these words "you should be using the machine to do this." I advised him I have never had a single problem when one of the ladies punch my tickets out. He just flew his hands in the air and walked away. I paid for them and left. Needless to say, " I won't be back but it's too bad because, I did enjoy the very competent and friendly staff. read more

We stopped by today to pick up 2 pounds of Turkey lunch meat and a case of Bud light and the lady behind the deli counter was very rude and unpleasant for no reason. Great deli and beer pick up on the way to Susquehanna state park for picnics! It is convenient, unfortunately it is expensive and the young guy behind the counter was a prick. My sister was buying beer for her boyfriend, but because I had left my ID at home he wouldn't sell the six pack to her...even though she had her ID and she's 27. Just rude and overpriced...$7 for 2 bags of fritos. read more

The absolute worst cheese steak ever! They pull the meat out of a bowl and put it in a microwave, and it taste like eating a shoe. I asked for fried onions on mine so the put onions in the microwave as well. read more

As far as subs go they are the best! I've been going to Herbs for at least 25 years. They are a great little corner store. For the guy who said it's dirty, it's not. The building is old and small but they do a good job keeping it stocked and clean. The best part is I live literally 2 min away so it beats running to the grocery store when I need something quick. read more

Herb's has the best cheese steaks and Italian cold cuts. Good locally owned convenience store - a little of everything. It does seem that they're carrying more and more liquor, which isn't a draw for me. But their deli counter, and convenience items are super. Joe is the current owner and he's trying out a lot of new ideas. They must be doing something right - they've been around for decades. read more
