Disappointed by this neighborhood Thai venue. The fried appetizers tasted of stale oil as if in the fryer for too long. The main courses were plated in the wrong dishes which made it hard to cut. The sauces were too watery. Finally, one dish was probably made first and put on the side while the other made; allowing it to go cold before it was served. What to eat? what to cook? what do I want? we all suffer from this on a Friday night- or most nights- no one tells you as an adult this will be the biggest brain fart of adulting, because you literally run out of ideas. But last night, I decided to DoorDash dinner- and Thai sounded good! 1-chicken wings, 2- chicken satay, 1-spring rolls,- 1-samosas, 3- thai iced tea, 1- pad thai, 1- thai rice, 1-banana dessert- came to about $130.00 with delivery charge, tip and fees. But, it was an order for 3 people so it wasn't bad 1- everything was packaged well, but the sauces leaked in the packaging, so that was a little messy but not a deal breaker. Everything tasted wonderful and it was plenty for everyone. I would highly recommend Herbs Thai for take out and delivery, as soon as I have time, I plan to dine in. This restaurant is a little gem located in a strip mall on Rt 88 in Brick, NJ. It was quite a surprise to be treated like visiting family - the staff is terrific and we wanted for nothing. Nicely decorated without going overboard. The four of us chose the Charred Seafood (Shrimps, Scallops, Squid and large Mussels - all accompanied by long hot herbs with a nice level of heat. Other entrees were the Lemongrass Lamb and Garlic Shrimp. I was slightly disappointed with my charred seafood as I actually expected some noticeable char. Appetizers - BBQ Baby Ribs (tasty, but a little difficult to eat along with Steamed Dumplings. Dessert was a shared order of Fried Banana with caramel sauce - delicious. We had the appetizer platter with chive dumplings, chicken dumplings, fried spring roll, pork empanadas, chicken red curry with white rice, and duck drunken noodles substituting glass noodles for the flat noodles. They both had adequate amounts of vegetables and protein cooked just right and were deliciously spiced. Crème brûlée for dessert was heavenly. The only negative was that you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom, the toilet and the sink there were clean but the floor was grimy and I never like to see that in a restaurant. Maybe I was expecting to much from the reviews. I'm not saying this was a bad place but I will say that these flavors didn't bring me back to Thailand. From someone that goes to Thailand on a yearly event, this place didn't do it for me. To me they have it more Americanized for the local people. When I go to a Thai restaurant I want to taste the food and say nice to be back in Bangkok. For a Thai restaurant, this place is very pricey and I don't see paying that much for the food. Only have done takeout once for my wife and I. We thought the flavors in the sauces were traditional and delicious. My wife found the meat (pork) a little dry, I was ok either way it. Wow. This was probably one of the best Thai places we've tried in NJ. I was very happy with the Thai Basil with Chicken at a Medium level of spice. My lips are still warm with a good heat with ginger. The ingredients were a great mix of vegetables. My wife enjoyed the vegetarian appetizer sampler and the Thai ice tea. We didn't recognize the scallion pancakes that looked like flaky filo squares until we tried and then, devoured them. The sweet coconut tea was perfect for cutting the heat of my dish. Just a few booths and tables but very clean and nicely decorated, enough to give you a warm and cozy feeling. For our mains, my wife and I both ordered the same dish which we were both craving, the Duck Drunken Noodles. This is a crispy half duck with flat noodle, Thai basil, chili and onion and it was fabulous. Again, another dish we've had at other Thai spots but this definitely ranked among the best. Just super flavorful ! Now for dessert, we went with not one, but two - Mango and Sticky Rice and Fried Ice Cream. Both were delicious but the standout was the Fried Ice Cream in a beautiful fried coating on top of a wonderful raspberry sauce, amazing. Very good experience. I've been several times. My go-to is the Drunken Noodles with Chicken. Good portion size, great flavor, and just the right amount of heat. This Thai restaurant not only contains incredible Thai food but also amazing people to help serve it. My family of nine entered this quaint little restaurant fully knowing that our large group isn't always easy to accommodate, especially when it includes an infant and a toddler. The staff accommodated all of our needs and did so with a smile. The way they treated us somehow made the food taste even better. We could tell that these people actually care about serving great food and making their customers happy.
