Menu is Czech favorites and fresh seafood. Not spotting anything that jumped off the menu, I ordered the hamburger. There is an excellent selection of wines. The sommelier is one of the owners & had spot on recommendations. We had a great experience at Hergetova Cihelna during our recent visit to Prague. I wasn't sure how to make a reservation so I emailed them and received a response promptly. I asked for either a table outside if weather permits or a window seat if inside. The email response was friendly and confirmed my request. It must have been because of the timing (not high tourist season) and the weather (kinda gloomy), because when we arrived on a Monday afternoon at 5 PM, the restaurant was empty. However, the hostess greeted us and sat us at a nice table by the window (outside seating was closed). The restaurant is beautiful and the service was excellent. My husband and I shared the beef tartar appey and it was HUGE and delicious. I had the octopus risotto and he ordered the Burger Royal. I enjoyed my dish OK and everyone had fun making fun of me and my sister (she ordered the same dish) because of the black ink in the risotto turning our mouth/teeth black. Hubby liked the burger (tho he said it was a bit small) and loved the flavor of the patty. So overall, it was a pretty good experience. I guess the price is considered higher (comparing to other Prague restaurants), but it's worth it in my opinion, because of the view and the service. The food didn't "wow" us, but they were definitely tasty. I'd recommend this restaurant for a nice atmosphere and great service, though slightly on the splurge side if you visit Prague. read more

The food is amazing but first let's talk about - Location! It's very close to the St Charles bridge and so at the very least, it's highly entertaining watching the boats - big and small - pass by. There are many tables along the water and we were lucky enough to get one by going right when they opened-6pm. They told us we had to leave by 8 if we sat there so I'm guessing a lot of people enjoy the sunset views. So romantic. The food has an assortment of small plates so my boyfriend and I shared. I'm not sure if this is frowned upon because the waitress didn't appear as of it was common. There's just no way to try everything we wanted without sharing. She wasn't great at English, so maybe she was just confused. Ok so asparagus soup. Very unique flavors, like nothing I've ever had. Very creamy and rich, definitely recommend. White Asparagus dish. Small but the sauce was out of this world. It was similar to hollandaise, but much better. Only 3 come on the small portion so be mindful. Beef filet mignon tips. This was way over cooked for fillet, kid of dad because we were excited to try. Maybe ask for rare, as the lady actually didn't ask us so we assumed they would bring it out as it should be-bummer. Dumplings with roast beef. Ok so when I hear dumpling I first think Chinese style, and secondly think Southern style-this was more like Vietnamese style. It was basically a taco with roast beef, but a fluffy shell like an Asian taco. Kind of thrown off, but enjoyed the flavor ok. Wouldn't order again though. Pizza Calabrese. So simple, so hard to mess up, and so good. Definitely was a good addition to the variety of food we got. We enjoyed the fullest body rose as it was still daytime but we wanted a bit richer flavor than white wine in the warm weather. I believe it was the merlot blend. I'd give this place 5 stars for the food unadjusted for price, 4 stars for the food adjusted for price, and 5 stars again for the view. The view of the river and Charles bridge is just unbeatable. The food didn't disappoint, and while it was very expensive by Prague standards, the whole splurge of the meal for two with tax, tip, wine, two deserts, an appetizer and the like was about 3100 Kč, which is under $130. Really, not bad. We go the pumpkin ravioli, which were were good, but not distinguishably pumpkin and more lightly cooked round noodles in olive oil with pine nuts. The salmon was surprisingly good for a landlocked country, but not "crispy" save for the skin. Still, it was probably my favorite dish of the night. The Iberian pizza was very good--a lot because of the truffle oil, but still a deeply satisfying pizza. The chicken schnitzel was fantastic and ridiculously well-plated for kids food. Our 10-moth-old loved it. The pumpkin soup was much closer to a Thai tom yum gai with pumpkin seeds--which isn't a bad thing, but was just a bit surprising based on the menu description. The addition of chicken and noodles was a bit odd though. The wine list had a bunch of Czech wine, but the waiter couldn't give me a good enough description to feel comfortable ordering a bottle. I wound up getting an Italian Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which was quite tasty if not the best bottle of red ever. Both deserts--the creme brulee and the chocolate fondant were great. The fondant was really more of a fantastic lava cake than any fondant that I would have recognized though. read more

Amazing food and view! The waiter was very friendly and attentive. The starter bread and butter were very fresh. I loved the nuts on the butter as well. I ordered the rigatoni with an extra side of grilled vegetables. The rigatoni was covered in tomato sauce, Parmesan, black olives and arugula. It was so delicious! The grilled vegetables included eggplant, bell pepper, asparagus and cherry tomatoes. The best part of the restaurant is the view! It overlooks the river which is gorgeous. It was a cold day outside so the waiter turned on the outdoor heater which was very helpful. Also they gave me a blanket to wear while I ate! So generous of them. The food, service, and view were amazing. What else is there? You have to see.the two peeing and rotating statues first, hysterical. We had a nice.table for two outside right along the wall with an incomparable view of Charles Bridge and Prague. I don't even remember what I had, though it was great, by my wife still talks about her octopus with black risotto, and she is no big foodie. It was really awesome! The setting is epic. Right on the river and adjacent to the iconic Charles Bridge and tower. Beautiful day or night. Settings don't get much more romantic than this. The view, the service and the food all were great. Compared to the grumpy waiters we've have throughout our trip, Phillip was an absolute delight. But only giving four stars because the portions are disproportionate to the very high prices. We thought the pork dumplings were pricey (albeit yummy). Then came my husband's main dish of fish and chips. Although he said it was delicious, they could have added another piece of fish for the $25 price tag. Wish I'd had the experience friends did or reviews posted here. The establishment has an "allergen menu" however everything in the menu (to include drinks) was listed as containing "cereals with gluten." When asked to clarify, the server simply shrugged and said "that is so." So I left. Beautiful view though. read more

This spot is really difficult to rate because of the impeccable service and incredible view of the river you have throughout your meal. My family and I stayed here for hours enjoying the beauty of Prague while sipping on their wonderful wine and beer selection. The four stars are solely earned based on the ambience and service. However, stars always have to be subtracted when the food does truly nothing for my taste buds. I had a burger here, a very unsatisfyingly bland burger. The appetizers were not memorable either, which leaves me wondering why this beautiful place cannot make perfect food to match the perfect everything else that they offer here. After some praise on here my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try. When we arrived I ordered a Pilsner to start with. One taste and I could tell something was funny. As a beer aficionado beer and quality are very important to me. I recognized the taste. The lines from the taps have not been properly maintained. Strike one. We ordered our appetizers and I tried to ignore the beer thing. Our appetizers arrive and I order another beer, a different one, one on bottle. I'm asked if I needed a new glass. My mouth dropped. What kind of shotty place was this? I respond with a yes and turn my attention to the Beef Carpaccio I ordered. It was bland, no seasoning or garnish really. My girlfriend's looked better prepared. My beer arrived midway though my appetizer and without a without a glass. I ask for a glass and a few minutes later I am given a glass that can best be described as one of those little glasses you get in line at a hotel buffet, designed to hold the bear minimum amount of liquid. A hard strike two. When our main course arrives my girlfriend and I are sorely disappointed. I asked for a medium on my Filet Mignon, I received a rare, served with a side of frozen vegetables. My girlfriend asked for the octopus, what she received was a poorly cleaned octopus swimming in the most amount of sauce you could pour on a plate without it dripping to the floor. She also said it was chewy and a bit over cooked. There is no excuse for not being able to prepare two dishes properly. An astonishing strike three. I read the reviews and I don't know if they are simply not up to par on the off season or if they were having a bad night. I don't care really. I conclude by saying I will not return to Hergetova Cihelna, and I honesty can't recommend it to anyone. read more

Went for dinner tonight with a reservation for a seat with a view, and we were not sat near the window, which didn't really matter I guess because it was dark out. But I feel like it would be a better spot for lunch because the view of the Charles Bridge would be quite stunning. Now onto the food, which is the real reason we came here! Buffalo mozzarella salad was perfection. Chicken Marsala was delicious, my BF's filet was cooked beautifully, and the service was impeccable. We really enjoyed the food! Def a good spot! read more

The restaurant itself worth at least 4.5 star, for its delicious food and location. The other half star is for their services. It located in "small town" just off the Charles bridge, you want to have dinner there after 19:00 for the beautiful sunset projects on the bridge and other buildings, until 21:30. This was one of my most pleasurable dining experiences I've had in Europe duringthis vacation. From the initial contact with the restaurant- I emailed them for a reservation and they responded within minutes, to our arrival- we arrived at 7:30 on the dot and the hostess said our table wasn't quite ready so they bought us each a glass of prosecco and we waited a total of 3 minutes for our table, to the top notch service to the excellent food and not to mention the amazing views and lovely atmosphere. This place is wonderful! The view is splendid and the food is to die for. I had the fillet mignon and the argulu and spinach salad. They were both amazing. I also got me a free dessert for checking in here with yelp and I chose the baked pineapple. I have never tasted something like that before, so delicious and rich in taste yet nothing fatty. The order came in late so the manager himself apologized to me and my husband and offered him free coffee and free dessert out of courtesy. You have to come here if you're at Prague. read more

I have some difficult food allergies, so going to places this fancy usually deter me. The menus are usually small, elegant, and hard to work around. I feel bad taking apart such culinary masterpieces, to fit my diet needs. The staff here was amazing. I simply told them what I couldn't eat, and they customized my meal to fit. I was incredibly appreciative! I'm sure it would have been better had I been able to take full advantage of the dish, but still satisfying. The atmosphere is really great. We were having a hard time having a good meal in Prague. We were ready to condemn Czech food as being disappointing until we found this place. The food was very good and in par with what we are used to in New York City. The interior of the restaurant is quite beautiful but the best part is the outside patio. The patio is right in the river overlooking Charles Bridge and the beautiful Prague skyline. Service was also very good, better than in other place we went to in Prague. Highlights of the meal were the dumplings with pulled pork neck, the fillet, and the duck. They also had a decent wine list. The disappointing part of the meal was dessert. I ordered the chocolate fondant with creme fraiche ice cream. Although the cake was probably one of the best molten lava cakes I have ever had, the ice cream tasted like sour milk and ruined my taste buds. Absolutely amazing from the moment we were greeted with a smile. This was our final and best meal of the trip. We were surprised that it was not packed! We had been to so many places and turned away over the weekend without a reservation. We had booked this one in advance for my birthday dinner with a small group. The service was impeccable. The server, Sandra, was awesome!!! The food incredible! Every appetizer, main course, and dessert was amazing! We had salmon tartar, beef consumé, pumpkin soup, the goat cheese salad, and duck wontons as starters. A few had the burgers with foie gras while the others had boar cheeks for main courses. It was my birthday so they brought a dessert with sparklers to music over the speakers. Yes I am a fan. No I don't think this place deserves my 5 star rating and il explain why. For starters the view is absolutely stunning and service here is impeccable. These are the best qualities this place has. Although being in a tourist area, it was nice to see locals and tourists alike dining here side by side, gave this place a bit less of a snotty vibe. I will say this place was rather expensive for anything on the menu and the three courses I tasted were alright but nothing to write home about. For starters I had the pita with three dipping sauces, all of which were bland and not up to par. I then had their royal burger which was okay but again nothing amazing and finished with their lime cheesecake which again was alright but certainly not worth the calories. Sadly the best 'food' I had at this place was the free grilled bread in oil they have us al the table. Ouch for a supposed 5 star restaurant. I did consider going easy on the since Petr and his staff took excellent care of us and our boy on his birthday, but they deserve to know the truth about their food. It's average. read more

This place is located in the same plaza at the Kafka museum. The food is superb. I had the salmon and my friend had the perch. My husband had the foie gras burger. We all practically licked our plates clean. The blankets on each chair were much appreciated, as it gets a bit chilly when seated practically on the river. I was a little disappointed with the hostess. When she sat us, there was a table closer to the water that sat empty. When we asked if it was possible to sit there, she got defensive and insisted that we sit where she offered. It wouldn't have bothered me if a. She was more gracious about it, and b. That other table and many others didn't sit empty for the remainder of the night. Our waiter however was wonderful and took good care of us. He learned that part of our party was French-speaking and made an effort to speak to us in both English and French. It's a romantic place and we had a lovely evening there. read more

Wonderful view, delicious food! We had the duck wontons for an appetizer and then the foie grad burger for an entree. The burger was to die for!!! Good drinks as well.
