Even the freshly baked breads were delicious. Our main entree was both beautiful and cooked to perfection. The duck breast with roasted salsify and wild broccoli served over a garlic potato purée and dusted with a balsamic Demi-glacé was the highlight of our foodie restaurants in Prague. (Salsify is a root vegetable that is part of the dandelion family). Loved also being able to watch the chef make magic as you walked past the open kitchen. If you're coming from the US, the food and wine here is excellent value. 2 glasses of wine, 2 entrees for ~$35. Expect well-presented meals with a cool atmosphere - has an open kitchen where you can see people preparing the meals, and the part of the restaurant we went to was underground and had stone walls and arches. I decided to go the restaurant after seeing it rated highly on Tripadvisor, but was a bit disappointed that the food did not live up to the hype or modern-cuisine type of atmosphere that was set. It was above average, but not excellent. My boyfriend's duck was over-salted (maybe intentionally, since there were some salt crystals present), and the "Famous Bohemian svíčková" that I ordered was a bit underwhelming - consisted of bread dumplings with beef brisket and gravy, decent and good, but nothing to rave about. read more

A restaurant that has the aura of high-end dining but failed utterly during our visit. The venue is beautiful. Our waitress was friendly but did not check in with us as expected. The food was cold and tasteless when it came in and the wine didn't really make the cut. When we complained about the cold food we were offered free dessert which was nice. But, I ended up getting breaded cheese, not ideal for someone who is gluten intolerant and specifically ordered gluten free food. You can find much better food for a lot less money in Prague. read more

Fabulous ! So good we went here twice. Modern Czech cuisine. The beef cheeks on celeriac purée melted in your mouth. The traditional mushroom soup with an egg on top would be perfect for a light lunch. Smoked tongue appetizer with mustard and horseradish added to the soup was a full meal. Lamb stew was terrific, they also make their own bread and sell pastries from a store front bakery. The below street interior is expertly decorated, simple but elegant. Happened upon this cellar restaurant on a cold Sunday afternoon. Could not recommend this place more. A warm Viennese coffee, a delicious bowl of soup and even a complementary appetizer made us feel warm and welcome. Lovely little spot and the service was spectacular. read more

Besides the lemonade that tasted like watered down "minute maid" and the Pilsner out of the bottle, the food was beyond the lowest expectations anyone could have. My pork was bellow average, disappointingly boring, but at least let you leave feeling like you've eaten something proper, while my girlfriends risotto with goat cheese was beyond words. Creating the an unmatched act between without taste, absolutely disgusting and nicely decorated. The atmosphere is pretentious and the service is weirdly over the top, without managing to impress anyone with decent taste. I would highly recommend saving the 70€ and spending them on hotdogs or fastfood, because it won't be any worse and at least you won't be distracted by a waitress pointing onto your food making garbage seem like it deserves a Michelin star! read more

Chose this restaurant randomly while walking the city. Very much enjoyed Casserol. Ambience of the 'cellar' was very fun and service were stellar. All employees were friendly beyond expectations. Food was very good and a superb value. Only downside is that their beers are in bottles rather than on tap. Will put this on top of my list for a return visit. read more

We walked by this place and thought the menu seemed intriguing so we walked in were told it was full for the night so we made a reservation for our last night in Prague. My partner would rank his meal a 5. The appetizers of the mushroom soup and goat cheese salads were good (4). The wine was well priced and good. However for me, a vegetarian, there was only one entree choice, barley risotto. Seeing as it was more expensive than the beef cheek (5) I was optimistic. I like barley, asparagus, mushroom, everything listed in the description. But it was exceptionally bland and dry. I don't think I've eaten so little off my plate... Ever. Had several meals around for a fraction (like half) the price that I enjoyed, even loved. When the waiter saw my full plate they asked if it wasn't good and I said it was very bland and dry with very little mushrooms. Her response to why it was so expensive was because its barley... And that oyster mushrooms are expensive in Prague and that we should have seen the price on the menu... No apology, and acted like I was the one with poor taste. We were also charged 54 crowns for tap water... Was it as expensive as a nice meal in the U.S? No. But given the other less or similarly priced options think about going elsewhere, especially with a vegetarian (or pescatarian since there was no fish entree either). A 2 may be harsh... I do feel bad doing it. But 5 bites of an entree, no apologies, and that's all I can give. read more

It's funny 99.9% restaurants will never show you how the food is made (they don't want you to know where the extra proteins come from). For good food, it was only 80 euros (89 us dollars). 3 main entrees, 1 kids meals, and 1 bottle of prosecco. In usa, it would have been close to 125. read more

We only ate breakfast here - and it was below mediocre. First: the location is great, right in the middle of the old town. The restaurant itself is clean and has a decent atmosphere. The lighting in the restaurant was very dark, which might be okay for an evening dinner, but not enjoyable for breakfast. Every part of the breakfast was a disappointment. They promised fresh pastries and bread from their own bakery; these were either very bland or dry. Only some of the pastries (incidentally the worst ones) were marked as "home-made", so I suspect the others were from somewhere else. The bread was a basic toast. Together with the cheese and ham, this bread was the only worthwhile part of the breakfast; not good, but enough that we didn't leave horribly hungry. The orange juice was basically slightly sugary water. Coffee tasted like instant coffee. And so on. Eating here is not an enjoyable way to start your day. read more
