I am somewhat new to Heritage and appreciate their great selection of items. The online bidding is quite fun! 3 minor issues though that are worth addressing: 1) I have called 3 times to ask about the payment plan and received 3 DIFFERENT answers. The first lady told me to just bid on the item and then to call them back to set up a payment plan. Can you imagine if I took the customer service reps advice and bid $30,000 without knowing whether I am approved for the financing? The customer service people are so friendly, but I think additional training is warranted. Can someone from Heritage please tell me how to set up a payment plan or how it works? My email to the credit department has thus far been unanswered, and I sent it about 5 days ago. I wish I had receive correct information first but I knew it couldnt be right and I ended up not bidding on the bigger items because of it. 2) Wait time for shipping leaves me in the dark a little bit. I paid the day I got the invoice for the item I won with debit card so that I was sure Heritage would get their money ASAP and that the item would ship as soon as possible. However that was a week ago and it still hasn't shipped. I know they are busy, but an estimated ship date would be nice since the money is already paid. I know 7-14 days, but I will need to arrange to be home to accept the package and need a little runway. 3) the buyers premium hurts. I am not sure why it is so high. But overall, this seems to be a great auction house and certainly has the best online bidding, by a long shot. I am thus far a happy customer, but one with a few questions. Very slooooow response from customer service - and when they do respond - it's as if they don't read my messages thoroughly and respond with what seems to be 'cookie cutter' response not related to previous message. I sent in a list of all PCGS/NGC graded coins I wanted to auction worth over $50,000 and they come back with this message' "Heritage accepts only coins certified by NGC, PCGS or ANACS for auction with a minimum group value of $5,000. The items listed here are below our minimum auction value and should be brought to a local dealer in your area for an in person inspection" OK, Screw em - I'll take my business elsewhere! read more

I have bid and won in more then a few of Heritage Auctions. (lost a few also lol) I've even sold thru the auction house with a great return on my item. My complaint is they charge for EVERYTHING - you might win a multi-thousand dollar item - they charge for shipping. Kindasorta cheap when it comes to customer "appreciation". Especially with the "house cut." PLEASE NOTE ALL OF MY ITEMS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN WELL-SHIPPED - I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE SHIPPING DEPT. - JUST BEING CHARGED FOR IT AFTER A WINNING MAJOR-MONEY BID(S). One other major-minor complaint - I recommended Heritage to a friend, he contacted a representative, spoke with the rep, agreed to another consultation, representative never returned his calls. I have occasionally won lesser priced items on Heritage but there was a specific lot (no. 28) in Thursday's Hollywood auction I truly needed to have and decided to stick my neck out with a high bid. I called HA's customer service number to get some tips on the best way to use incremental bidding, etc., and had it explained to me well. I also reached out to one of Heritage's Hollywood memorabilia curators, Joe Moe, for some information on the lot's provenance. In addition to putting together a significant selection of film-related memorabilia, Joe is a really gracious human being. Having been encouraged by Joe and being tutored on the live bidding process by the customer service folks, I entered the auction with some confidence. I've used Heritage Auction for about 15 years. I recently received an Email from them offering me to complete a form should I wish to consign something through them. I completed the form with the information and asked to be contacted. I did not receive a response, so a few days later I phoned and was put into a voicemail system for that department. I asked for a return call but it has been over a week and nothing. I'm very disappointed in this customer service. I guess I'll go elsewhere from now on to buy and sell my collections. read more

They just sold an unnamed species trilobite fossil in their September 2019 auction that was a 100% fantasy tourist FAKE that has been the joke of the fossil trade for over 20 years. It sold to some unfortunate buyer for $1875. Seeing things like that should scare you. The most fundamental of managers of that department should have never allowed it to be put in such an auction.....only if they were scrupulous. Obviously, they are not! In their art department, I purchased a piece of original comic art that sold for over $4000 they claimed was done by a top name comic artist who is deceased. The family of the artist, as well as a former gallery owner of that deceased artist, both told me it was IMPOSSIBLE that the artist Heritage claimed did the work I purchased, was the artist. Heritage took the piece back and promptly refunded me my money. A few months later, Heritage put the SAME piece up for auction again that I returned. They DID NOT CHANGE THE ARTIST INFORMATION even after it was brought to their attention, purposely misrepresenting the piece again in an effort to get a higher price for such a famous artist! Anyone bidding and buying with Heritage needs to watch their back! read more

Sometimes it takes them a week to ship items, and I can forgive them in that aspect because I know of the thousands of items they have to ship each week. I consigned several hundred old U.S. coins. The staff at Heritage was efficient and knowledgeable. The most valuable coins were sent for grading and authentication and auctioned individually, while the less valuable ones were sold in lots. The auctions were well advertised, so I am confident that the sale prices truly represent the market value. Prices were not of course always what I expected-- old copper coinage generally commanded lower prices than I was expecting, but the silver coins, especially those in excellent condition, more than made up for this. I found Heritage Auctions with the help of Phillips Auction house in New York City. They recommended them as I needed local help and couldn't ship my artwork without costing a lot of money. I didn't know if I would have any luck with selling my tapestries and oil paintings from some known and not so known artists as they were decades old. January of 2023 I contacted Heritage Auction about selling some items. I sent photos of my items, Heritagr auctions contacted me back, And stated, They would love to sell my items, And could probably get me between 5,000 to 10,000 dollars. I sent my items, And when Heritage Auction recieved my items Heritage set the reserve at 25% of their value. They told me don't worry they have many buyers, And could get my price. I asked for my items back. They stated, " Photos had been taken and they will not return my items" Im hiring a lawe. If you are thinking of selling your items. Do not use Heritage Auction.
