It is a new BBQ restaurant in the old BBQ building. It's line service where you order at register. On the menu I picked the 2 meat platter, brisket and ribs. They didn't have ribs so I had double brisket with coleslaw and Mac and Cheese and a side of cornbread. Ok so here goes my take, I hated everything. The brisket was just total fat. I had a hard time finding any meat to eat. The coleslaw had a weird taste to it like it came out of a box from a food supply company. The Mac and cheese was bland. As for the cornbread, it tasted nothing like cornbread, it tasted more like cake. My husband said it tasted like Pineapple upside down cake. I know good BBQ from living in Kentucky and expected better. Maybe they need to work in their products as they are new. I wish them all the best, and I am sure many people love or will love their food, I am just not one of them. That being said, go eat there and and I do hope you enjoy the food, and their business succeeds. read more

Just leaving there now came over here to try it out. Amazing food amazing taste smells amazing. I had a barbecue sandwich with slaw and oddly enough The potato chips were were so good. They're cooking them in beef tallow it was really really a different taste altogether nice people nice staff quick service hot food. I can't see anything more five stars for sure. read more

Great atmosphere and great food. Had the brisket sandwich which had been recommended. It was full of flavor and very tender. I had Cole slaw as the side and it was very tasty. Loved that they have a 4 seat bar with TVs. I will be back with my husband to enjoy the food and have a beer at the bar! Forgot to mention the service. Very friendly and food came out quickly. read more

What started out as a hobby 15 years ago has developed into a passion to make the best BBQ I can. I started out on a small $45 vertical smoker and every few years would get something a little bigger. It only makes sense to expand into a commercial sized smoker. I can’t wait to get into Heritage BBQ and start serving everyone some authentic BBQ! We believe in honoring the origin. You can taste the tradition in our meat! With us, you can expect Texas style brisket, Kansas City burnt ends, eastern Carolina pulled pork sandwiches, etc. “Staying true to the Heritage of BBQ!” We are a local, family business. Even our kids help fold our takeout menus! We want to serve you only the best quality meat, family recipe sides & desserts, and drinks too. The only complaint I would have is that the Salmon Tacos was a bit small. The dish is two small tacos with a side of tortilla chips. There is no salsa, no pico de gallo, no slaw. I was actually sorry that I didn't get an appetizer. I was still a little hungry after I finished. We didn't want any of the dessert offered this time. Again, everything was great. Service, food, atmosphere, outside patio. Just my dish was a little less in size. I will keep that in mind next time we visit. I'm not sure something like this would be changed on the menu, but I still wanted to voice my opinion. Still a great place with a great menu and service. If the weather is good, opt for the patio. It is really nice sitting out there.

Just right for quiet conversation with your group or a friendly couple at the next table. Our server was Jason and he was excellent. He presented the evening's specials politely and answered out questions knowledgeably. We started with a cocktail. Carolyn had an Aperol Spritzer and I ordered the Jack Daniel's Italian Sour. One of the best sours I have ever had. Jack and Amaretto with a fresh made sour mix. Not too sweet, and was bourbon forward. We ordered Fettuccine John Angelo - fresh made pasta with an Alfredo style sauce, and Pancetta. Served with wedges of homemade rosemary focaccia baked fresh daily. We asked that it be split so we could both have some. We also ordered the Veal Scaloppine Alla Saltimbocca. A tender slice of veal with sage, prosciutto and melted mozzarella with white wine butter sauce. The kitchen wouldn't split that dish, but Jason brought us an extra plate and a sharp knife. Both dishes were delicious. Both were an ample serving that made it easy to share. It was just the right amount. The white wine butter sauce was spectacular (and the bread was perfect for sopping it up). Note: sopping is a southern thing, and perfectly permissible here. Seldom do we order dessert, but tonight we couldn't resist the Affogato Brownie, an Espresso - soaked, double dark chocolate brownie topped with vanilla gelato and amarena cherries. It was so good. They have an extensive wine list and some craft beers as well. Here's the best part - the prices were quite reasonable. The Blackened Chicken Breast came with basmati rice, seasonal vegetables, black bean salsa, and a chipotle cream sauce that worked harder than it had any right to. The flavors didn't compete. They really settled into each other. The Rumcow Salad, loaded with mixed greens, carrot, tomato, onion, cucumber, and wonton strips, we ordered topped with shrimp. The service was friendly and attentive, and we started the evening with a bottle of Cambria Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay (2023), which was a nice way to begin dinner. Unfortunately, the food this time around just didn't live up to what we remember. We started with the Asian Tots, which used to be one of the best items on the menu. In the past, the peanut sauce was poured over the top so everything came together as one dish. Now it's served in a small cup on the side, and there isn't enough of it to properly coat the tots. They also stopped finishing the dish with the salt they used to sprinkle on top, and even the presentation has changed -- the silver dome they once used is gone. What used to be a great appetizer has been reduced to something that's simply okay. For the main courses, the results were mixed but mostly disappointing. My blackened chicken was a little overcooked. My wife ordered the miso salmon, and that was overcooked as well -- which is especially noticeable with fish. When salmon goes past the sweet spot it quickly becomes dry, and that seemed to be the case here. None of the food was terrible, but none of it really stood out either. Dessert didn't help much. I ordered the carrot cake, but what arrived looked more like a small cupcake buried under a heavy amount of icing, with a large mound of whipped cream on the side. There wasn't much actual cake there, and it wasn't what I expected from a carrot cake dessert. One thing that stood out during the meal is that it feels like the kitchen may be constantly adjusting dishes -- moving sauces, changing presentations, tweaking things that didn't necessarily need fixing. In restaurants, sometimes the best move is to pick a lane and execute it consistently rather than continually modifying dishes that customers already liked. So here's the bottom line. Rumcow is not the Rumcow of yesteryear. Was the food terrible? No. But it was mostly meh, and that may be the most disappointing part. This used to be a place known for memorable dishes and small details done right. Right now it feels like a restaurant that has drifted away from what made it special. The atmosphere and service are still good, but the food just doesn't match the reputation it once had.

Heritage BBQ absolutely deserves five stars! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. The staff made us feel right at home and were happy to offer recommendations, which made the experience even better. What really stood out was Brandon, the owner, taking the time to come by our table, check in on us, and chat for a bit--it's that kind of personal touch that makes the experience feel special. The food was outstanding--some of the best barbecue I've had. The meats were perfectly smoked, tender, and packed with rich, authentic flavor. Every side dish we tried was just as impressive, clearly made with care and the perfect complement to the main dishes. Between the excellent food, top-notch service, and the genuine hospitality from Brandon, Heritage BBQ is a place I'll definitely be coming back to and recommending to others. I stopped by Heritage BBQ for dinner on a Friday evening with a party of 7 people. We ordered several sampler plates (available on Fridays and Saturdays), Brunswick Stew, along with several sides. The brisket and ribs were standout but I really liked the house-made sausage, pulled pork and burnt ends too. Frankly all the meats were delicious. I imagine the sauces were good but I can't comment on them as I didn't use any!! The meat was to my liking right off the plate. Brunswick stew: get one. As for the sides, the cornbread was moist and sweet and I loved the "Texas Twinkies" (cheese stuffed bacon wrapped jalapenos) -YUM! Everyone in our party seemed able to satiate thier BBQ desires! First visit today! It's really a cute place. We tried a little bit of everything. My husband said the ribs were the best he's ever had...and he eats a lot of ribs. The pulled pork nachos were delicious! The baked beans were fabulous with chunks of sausage and just the right flavor. Oh my, the Texas Twinkies had a bite to them, but that was toned down with the cream cheese filling and wrapped in perfectly cooked bacon. The house made chips were perfect with just the right combination of crispy and a little floppy. Great selection of sauces and all were terrific. Service was top notch with the staff coming to ask us if we needed anything multiple times. We can't wait to go back! read more

I went to Heritage BBQ on Saturday. I think they opened for their first day. The line was out the door but actually moved very fast. We ordered the sampler platter. The meats were amazing. We travel to Texas a lot and frequent many of the top BBQ restaurants there and these meats were every bit as good. I spoke briefly with the owner Brandon . He really knows his craft. Glad to finally get authentic wood fired BBQ here in Wilmington. We will be back often. read more

I was so excited to try this place because I worked for the owners in high school at a different business. The barbecue is absolutely amazing, our orders came out quick even though it was busy, and the restaurant itself was very clean and comfortable. This is a great option for a quick meal or if you want to sit down and stay a while it has a great atmosphere. Great people & a great place. I am excited to see it grow! read more

I came in on their opening day and tried the pulled pork sandwich and baked beans! It was so delicious and for such a fair price! The banana pudding is to die for too. BBQ is my thing. It's what I do most weekends for family and friends. So last Friday we orderd every meat this place had...Outstanding!! Ribs were perfect. Burnt ends a ten. Everything was great.
