Had a quick lunch at the bar and the service was great! The restaurant is pretty cool and set up like other places downtown. I got the ahi tuna tacos and they were on point. She flipped out when I asked why we had been waiting so long (50 minutes) & she exclaimed "You have to understand you're in a quality restaurant & garlic is our base for meals!!! We have to use clean pans for your food...you're in a restaurant!" Like I had never been to a restaurant before??? I have, & rarely never have had such an issue - never, in a high quality place. Stopped in this place with my boss for lunch before heading to the airport. Cute spot, bet it's booming at happy hour. Our waiter was very nice. We decided on the cobb salads. They were huge! Plenty of veggies, chicken, and many different tomatoes. Plenty of bacon too. My boss had shrimp added to his salad as well. Iced tea topped it off. Best salad we both have had in a long time. Seat yourself vibe . We had three adults and one child with us. Server came right over with menus and asked to take our drink orders. She was incredibly pleasant and answered any questions we had. She was always checking in on us and refilled my water three times for me. We ended up deciding on just ordering a bunch of apps. It was a great idea and more than enough to feed us all. This was an amazing find. My friends and I happened upon this restaurant during Memorial Day Weekend, and we throughly enjoyed ourselves. I had the Vegan Impossible Burger with Vegan Cheese, and it was hands-down the best Vegan Burger I've ever had. I didn't even need to use any sauce. It was utterly scrumptious. The fries were out of this world as well. The entire restaurant has a very cool, laid-back, relaxing vibe with a really neat, consistent play mix; including Christmas music. Our server Penelope was so nice, friendly, and polite. One of the most professional, knowledgeable, hard-working waitresses I've had in quite a while. I highly recommend this place. Five Stars! Cool little local "watering hole" if you will. No, this place is not related to Gordon Ramsey. But, its called Hell's Kitchen because the previous owner was from HK New Jersey. The food came out within 5min of me ordering it. For a mac n cheese bowl...id say it was decent and substantial. I do think my friend who was a former chef was right when I showed her a picture to which she said "to much chicken". If it were a main dish, I'd understand..but this was an appetizer. Not really to much to comment on the staff because I was sitting at the bar. Ill just say that most of the attention was on a major deciding football game. Price. For $16 n some change for that and a soda..I guess that's an average price. I may come back. Place had good vibes. read more

The decor was really cool. Especially decked out for Halloween. There is a bar area as well as booth and table seating. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. My guest said they have really great french fries. I tried the tator tots and they were excellent as well. Our server was great and accommodating. I don't give it a 5 star for the fact that parts of the restaurant seemed a bit dingy and need of attention. Overall a great place however. I'd definitely go back! read more

Came in today with a party of 8 for lunch. Service was great. She really did an amazing job. However, the food was not as good as last time I ordered the ahi tuna tacos and they were really soggy. The chips served with it were stale. I will say the salsa was really good. She gave me fries instead which I loved with their amazing ranch. My friend and I split the turkey club which was also not very good. Others had grilled chicken sandwiches and they liked them. I would stick with fries and a burger if you come here. read more

Not really with your time. Food is decent, but not at the expense of your entire afternoon. You are greeted by a cold, dark, and loud dining room. At lunch, there is usually plenty of seating (which does make sense). We frequent for their $6.66 burger deal on Wednesdays, of which I think this is the last. Every time, it takes upwards of 45 minutes to an hour to even get our food, while the restaurant is only about a third full. Service is always slow, not very pleasant, and our orders are wrong more often than not since they don't write things down. Food is standard bar food, with some good vegan options. It's extremely greasy, and sometimes the spice overtakes everything. Can be hit or miss. Overall, it can take 1.5-2 hours on a weekday for lunch. Not very convenient or worth it, especially considering their food is on the pricy side for what it is. The service is what breaks it for me. Not just a one off with bad service, but every single time it is incredibly slow. Three stars for the hot food. read more

Went last night for dinner, in town for a work conference. So happy to see multiple vegetarian and vegan options. Our waitress was friendly and swift. The vegan wings are just chicken tenders (I think Gardein) but the NC hot sauce on them was really tasty. The tater tots were perfectly crispy and golden. My meal was about $20 though just for the wings and taters so keep that in mind. It's a bar atmosphere and trivia night but still pretty open and the music wasn't too loud. We had a quick in and out lunch at HK one afternoon. We started with some drinks, then moved into the great balls of fryer (order the chicken instead of the philly), then enjoyed a few burgers. Here in Wilmington for a quick beach vacation. Unfortunately, it's going to rain everyday until I leave. But, I digress. I stopped by Hell's Kitchen for the name alone. LOL Since it's raining, I figured I would be inside more than outside. So, I ordered lots of food. Small garden salad, Beat em up burger, and a mac n cheese bowl. Oh, fries came with the burger. The burger was cooked to perfection. The salad was a salad. And, the mac n cheese needed lots of salt. Good portion side. Decent price. Friendly bartender. I ordered take out, not only due to the rain, but, there are many walking around mask free. And, while this virus is doing its virus thing, I'm going to do my part and protect myself and others. I have been here a few times and have generally liked it. One time it was very loud and crowded, so my group left. The other two times, I've had great food and service. It has a cool ambiance and lots of thought goes into the food and drink. The last time I came here, it was for the $2 fish tacos on Tuesday. The fish tacos were delicious and worth way more than two dollars a piece. The fish was juicy and lightly breaded. Accompanying the tacos were salsa and some citrus. They have great local beer on draft, but that night I opted for a diet soda. My glass remained refilled and our server was attentive. One time when I arrived here, Lea DeLaria from Orange is the New Black was leaving. She can do no wrong in my book, so if she's down with this place I am too. Overall, I enjoyed the food and ambiance. Just be wary that it might be a noisy environment. read more

Six of us had lunch on Sunday. The place filled up quickly, as many wanted to watch the football games on tv. One of my friends said Hell's Kitchen has some excellent pretzels. We all shared two. Really good! Nice and soft in the middle but a little too much salt for for my taste (I just brushed them off), and served with mustard as well as a creamy cheesy dipping sauce. I had the shrimp tacos. There were three, too much to eat, so transferred the shrimp from one and divided them to the other two tacos. The fries were beer battered. Nicely done! The mimosa's were OKAY. Too much juice. We asked for waitress to bring our second drinks with the juice on the side so we can pour what we wanted. Good food and good service. This is one of the first spots I ever stumbled upon in Wilmington and now one of main go to's. It's got such a chill, dive bar type feel combined with local brewery hipster crowds and mid life crisis dads who are betting their motorcycles on march madness bracket numbers. I would not say this is a great place for kids to run around and draw pictures on the table cloths. The inside is not particularly dog friendly, either. Their menu consists of anything and everything greasy and delicious with a nice addition of junk food healthy options. I've had everything from the mushroom burger and salmon BLT to the grouper po boy and buffalo chicken sandwich. All of it was pleasantly better than I'd expected it to be. I don't have a particular go to option to recommend but almost anything you'd get will most likely be all you dream of and then some. I can't say the same for drinks, however. I always get a water here as I don't like their beer variety, but again, it's more like a dive bar so it's kind of their thing not to have organic craft beers. You come for the guilty pleasure food and the environment. I've taken many friends here in the past year and never had a bad experience. I've never had to wait for a table before and the food comes out pretty quick. The staff aren't overly sweet, and you're most likely going to have to park in a structure a street or two over, or pay for meter parking. Prices are about the same as most spots downtown and the restaurant is within walking to distance to the "downtown nightlife scene." Try em out! read more

Came here solely because of Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill! Definitely will recognize it and they even have posters up which is cool. Wasn't too tempted by the food but we got a pretzel, the great balls of fryer and some wings. The pretzel was good and a staple. The great balls of fryer sounded different and interesting, we did not enjoy them though. Our waitress did warn us they weren't for everybody so we did go in knowing that but still wanted to try them. There just wasn't anything special about them. The wings were good! Enjoyed the honey chipotle sauce. The buffalo garlic only tasted like buffalo sauce, didn't taste a hint of garlic. Overall good bar food and a bar atmosphere! read more

So we stumbled into this bar/restaurant bc another place was closed. The honey chipotle wings were hands down the best thing here. The burger was a 2 at best best of the heat it brought, the actual meat patty was a 0-1, the waffle sweet potato fries were better left uncooked for hap bad they were. My drink was left unfilled after the first glass for a long time. The garlic buffalo wing (not pictured ) were to over powered by garlic. The service started out fine they sat 10 people right away, but they add a 15% gratuity on the bill automatically for large parties( we had 2 check 5/4) the waitress must know this because we were the last thing on her mind the entire stay. They messed up my wife's loaded fries with her meal, then charged for an extra cup of buffalo sauce (trying to spice up the garlic wings ). The ambiance wasn't bad unless you sit in the middle of the bar were the AC will drip water on you from the air ducts. I mean it will keep you awake while waiting for your waitress. read more

You'll be surrounded by an early twentieth century wooden bar room, with plenty of beers on tap. I went on a Wednesday, with my work buddies and we grabbed a tasty array of craft brews.
