This place hit the comfort food spot after driving around all morning and not finding much that sounded good. I saw it and pulled right in, no prior Yelping. The couple in front of me kept adding to their orders, asking how long to reheat each item for, and between the two of them spent almost $100 on food, baked goods etc. So, wait was quite long. One person was taking orders, answering phone calls and handling cash. Thinking maybe that is reason for wait time some have mentioned. It annoys me when I've been standing in line 15 minutes and two parties call and get their order in ahead of mine. Oh well?? In every category, including soup of the day, there were appealing vegetarian items available, a plus. I ordered the egg salad with tomato/lettuce on a baguette, a local soda and grabbed a few kinds of cookies and treats. Everything is good and fresh, egg salad lacked a flavor or even salt but did the trick. If I were more hungry, I might have ordered the Vermont cheddar and ale soup. Driving back from a stay in Rutland, VT. Wanted a quick stop for lunch with our pups. Place had an excellent back yard with a large tent, poop bags, and plenty of space to roam. I had the Willy Cheese steak, wife had a Thanksgiving sub. Both were excellent. Really enjoyed sitting out back with our dogs. Pastries looked good, blueberry muffin was the size of my head! We decided to go with a much smaller cake option that was just for us, it tasted amazing, and then an assortment of dessert options for the reception. Michelle worked with us to put together a selection of macarons, cider donuts, cookies (gluten free options too), brownies, and other pastries that were absolutely delicious! Our guests devoured everything and were raving about how good everything was. She even helped us with our wedding favors, making these wonderful maple flavored sugar cookies with our initials on them in the shape of a maple leaf! Unfortunately, the wait for our food was extremely long. 40 minutes is unacceptable and too long to wait for breakfast. I will give them a pass because the staffing issues currently in our area are causing many businesses problems. This is convenient for a lunch that is a step above a subway. My husband liked his rueben. I was pleased by my sliced baguette. I was a little saddened to find a gnat sized bug in my chicken soup. I don't judge them too harshly on that but it kind of goes with the fact they need to refresh their interior. We stopped in here for a quick lunch on the way to Manchester. It's on a rural road and looked like the perfect place to grab a country bite. There were picnic tables outside that we brought our food out to. The menu was very large. I was also super excited to see the large bakery selection, including cupcakes! I got the Ethan Allen sandwich, which was a turkey, cranberry, stuffing, lettuce and tomato, on multi grain bread. It was very good. The bread was super soft, the amount of turkey, stuffing and condiments were perfect. My boyfriend got an Italian sub that he loved. I thought the prices of the sandwiches were slightly steep at almost $9 each but they came with chips on the side and were made very generously. You could tell the meats were quality and the breads were made that day. So my favorite part of the meal was when I got a big cupcake from the bakery. I got a vanilla/vanilla butter cream. It was muffin size with the butter cream loaded high. The cake part was good in the inside. Not too sweet but slightly dry. The outside edges of the cupcake were overcooked and I could easily break it off. The butter cream was very rich. There was so much that I wiped most of it off. So I would give the cupcakes 3 stars, and the cafe 4 stars. The bakery had lots of other items that looked tasty. read more

We're local and have been coming to Heritage for years but today's our last visit. Came for a lunch date with mom and we were shocked by the changes. Heritage has lost its friendly, inviting and food-loving atmosphere. We've been disheartened by the rapidly deteriorating food quality, options and atmosphere but now find the customer service is dying too. The girl at the counter was incredibly nice however the cooks flat out refused to make a dietary change to a sandwich that my mom required. Felt like as customers we were bothering them. I loved my roast vegetable on foccacia sandwhich....but it was NOT worth the hour long wait (a sandwhich, side of already prepared -delicious-Macncheese, and greek salad) for a TO GO order. Also, instead of providing a fork from the dining room, they gave us 2 plastic SPOONS for the salad when they ran out of plastic forks. Who eats a salad with 2 plastic spoons? I've been a long time customer always stopping by 2-3 times when I'm visiting Vermont, we recently went this past weekend, this is our favorite breakfast spot but this time around we were very saddened that there inventory lacked a great deal of choices for drinks to pastries.
