I stopped by around 10:30am for a bite to eat and was pleased to see that I could order off of the lunch menu as breakfast foods are not my favorite. I got the portobello and roasted eggplant sandwich and it was delicious. The focaccia bread was divine. So soft and satisfying. The subtle pesto spread was just enough to add good flavor without making the sandwich soggy or drippy. The sandwich came with a side of carrot salad and a shredded potato salad. Everything tasted really fresh and nutritious and really hit the spot. The staff were all very nice and attentive. Overall a great spot for a more casual quick meal! read more

After are first stop to eat in Bennington, which we had a bad in counter so we didnt get to eat and continued on our merry way to this gem. They weren't especially friendly either but didn't push us out the door so it was a win. We got a seat right away so they get a bonus, just for that. The rush came in afterwards and was seated within a reasonable time. It took a few minutes to get our drinks. The service seemed OK but yes a little rushed but near the end if the meal the waitress mellowed out and even smiled after my companions conversation. We ordered our meals, which mine was a poached egg breakfast entree with ham and a sauce. My companion ordered the salmon entree and enjoyed it. Great find thanks to Yelp. Reviews were mixed on service, but we found our waitress to be very nice and appreciated our business. Super cut space all decked out in....yup, you guessed it....roosters! Cute chairs with painted nests/eggs were a nice touch at our table. I had one of their specials. It was the brisket hash and it was so darn good. Two poached eggs cooked perfectly and a couple pieces of local sourdough bread, lightly toasted with butter. It was the perfect amount and that brisket had an incredible smoky flavor that kept me going back in for more. Decent pricing. My kiddo had the (2) pancakes and they were very large and pretty thick. She loved them. Coffee was huge steps above diner coffee and they had a flavored option too (maple walnut). It used to be cash only, but they now accept cards over a certain amount. We had a wonderful lunch. One of the best chicken salad sandwiches I have had. They were able to accommodate my wife's request for gluten free bread and she enjoyed her Rueben to no end. Having just been to the Hildene, we wanted to have a lunch that was close by. This place is small and busy but we were able to be seated right away. I got the Niçoise salad which came with green lettuce, snap peas, egg, potatoes, etc and a choice of tuna or salmon steak. I opted for the salmon steak and wow, this dish just spells freshness and flavorful all in one. I finished to the last bite. My wife got the roasted eggplant and portobello mushroom sandwich and they made it on gluten free toast. I was almost going to get that myself and glad to see my wife loved the freshness of their ingredients. My son got the ultimate corned beef hash with 2 poached eggs. If you are visiting the area, skiing or enjoying the foliage, this is a good place to start your day. Food seemed to be well prepared, well presented and brought to the table in an appropriate amount of time. Not seeing my preferred eggs Benedict on the menu, I ordered their eggs Morley. They were ok. My wife had an omelet special that apparently was listed on a blackboard placed too far away to see. She enjoyed her meal. One thing that takes priority in my mind is how incredibly loud the restaurant is. Acoustics are awful and while we were assailed with conversations happening all over the venue, it was impossible to speak to each other due to the din. Seating at a small table near the entrance to the restaurant also provided an awakening blast of late December air every time the door opened. The mostly ski crowd were enjoying themselves though and even though, as a local, I certainly will never return, I recommend that if you are looking for a place to have a decent breakfast or lunch in between tourist activities and don't really feel the need for a cozy, quiet place to enjoy your meal you will be well cared for here at a competitively priced restaurant in the center of Beautiful Manchester. read more

My family ate here for breakfast on our recent trip to Manchester. The food was decent, but nothing spectacular either. However, my poor rating comes from the appalling service we received from the moment our waitress asked us what we would like to drink. She was rude and seemed to be constantly rushing. My four year old daughter ordered orange juice and she rudely asked "regular or fresh squeezed" and "pulp or no pulp". We asked for fresh squeezed and no pulp and she snapped " the fresh squeezed has pulp". There was no need for the attitude, as we only responded to her two questions. When my husband asked for regular coffee, she was very rude in asking what type of regular and quickly gave him 3 coffee choices. Throughout the meal she never checked on us and left us sitting waiting for the check for a very long time. Watching her, she was much nicer and more attentive to other tables....especially those tables of people that seemed more local to the area vs my New York family. She gave checks to 2 groups who arrived after us and finished their food after us and refused to make eye contact with me even though it was obvious we finished and were waiting for the check. Lastly, she added a 20% tip to a bill for parties of 5 or more, but there were only 3 of us. When I pointed it out, I stated that she could give me the cash rather than voiding the whole debit transaction. She responded "well if you're going to give me 20% I can just keep it. I ALWAYS tip 20% but out of principal due to the poor service I asked for the cash and reluctantly tipped her 15% I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant! read more

My family and I were vacationing in Manchester, Vermont and Little Rooster seemed to be the only sit down breakfast place in town open before 9AM. (Bob's Diner is about 2 miles out of town & also gets the job done). I'd recommend getting there by 8:30 AM Because any later and you'll likely experience a 15-20+ min wait. The restaurant is cafe-esque and has a cozy vibe. It's bigger than you'd expect and seems even more spacious as I believe they removed some tables to increase social distancing amid the pandemic (a nice touch!). The staff is nice but you can tell they don't have time to chat. Very busy (esp. during the morning rush) but the service is excellent and you can be in and out of the place if you wish (but of course, I'd recommend taking your time and having an extra cup of coffee!). They had regular coffee (and when we were there) a maple walnut variation. Similar to K-Cups, the maple walnut coffee didn't taste any different than regular (as expected) but has a nice aroma that will remind you it's fall. There aren't a TON of breakfast options but hit most of the big categories. There isn't any pancake platter option (pancakes + eggs + meat) but I luckily had some of my moms eggs/hash browns. The food is EXCELLENT and is served on colorful plates which adds to the ambiance. Pancakes are super greasy/buttery, but personally I think those are the best kind. I got the blueberry pancakes the first time I went (yes, we went twice!) and the banana pecan pancakes the second time. Both were phenomenal and the other options my family got were on point as well. Net net-- great breakfast spot if you're looking for a relaxing start to a day (especially if you're on vacay!) complete with friendly service, delicious food & a satisfyingly warm cup of coffee. read more
