Lazy staff, the lenses for my exam were filthy and weren't cleaned in between patients. Didn't get offered the shades over my glasses after dilating. What an embarrassment it is now compared to a few years ago when they were being constantly recognized. Rude, Unprofessional, Liars, Not Trained. I have been going to Heritage Eye Center of McKinney for years with no problems. I sent my husband there to get his eyes checked for the first time, and they were super aggressive during the eye exam, they scratched his corneas and didn't tell him. He called me saying his eyes were on FIRE, and if this was normal. I took him back to Heritage eye center and they admitted they were a little "aggressive" during the eye exam/pressure test and scratched his corneas. WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL HIM THIS THE FIRST TIME!?!?!?!? They gave him "band aid" contact lenses and told him to take Tylenol. My husband called me again saying the contacts were not helping. I called the office and they LIED to me, saying they have tried several times calling my husband, but it kept going to voicemail that was not set up yet. When I asked what number they were calling, they asked if they could put me on hold. I finally came into the office and they Showed me the number they have been "trying to call," that was a digit off from my husband's phone number. THIS IS ABSOLUTE BS! You changed his number, because you have been sending him text messages reminding him of his appointment. When I called the number you had in your system, it was not even tied to a phone number......WHY DID YOU LIE?????? You were EXTREMELY defensive, when you should have been apologetic and trying to see what else you could do for my husband to get him comfortable. You never followed up to check on him. I had to take my husband to another ophthalmologist to confirm his corneas were scratched by your machine and to get him some relief! Your doctor assistant is RUDE, DEFENSIVE, LIES, and is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! All we wanted was for you to provide my husband some relief and comfort and to make things right since y'all were the "Aggressive" one's with his eye exam. I just paid $15 extra so that the clinic would use some sort of device instead of having my eyes dilated. But they still dilated them (claimed they were "lightly" dilated) and almost 2 hours later, I still have foggy vision. I did get a decent exam by a tech, but at most 2 minutes with the doctor. After waiting about 20 minutes to see him, that's what I got. What a ripoff. Time to look for another eye doctor. read more

Worst experience I have ever had. I have never had an eye exam, I left the office after being told my vision was 20/20 and everything looked good. On my home after the numbness wore off my eyes felt like they were on fire. Turns out the technician who did the eye exam scratched both of my corneas during the pressure test. Came back in and no apologies just said the pressure test was a little "aggressive". I end up missing a day of work not being able to see and pain where I wanted to scratch my eyeballs out of my head. Also, my wife had to miss a half day just to help me around the house. So all in all I got from this place was blurry vision, absolutely horrible pain, and lost a day and half of household income. My parents are in their late 80's and have been clients of Dr. Churner for over 12 years. My personal experience was bringing my mom in for cataract surgery. They were prepared to meet her, did paperwork and took her back to start an IV. Everybody was on time and ready to go. I was taken to a lovely comfortable waiting room, the surgery was 3 hours total from check in to check out. They insist you stay while one is in surgery. There are no vending machines or local places to eat so I highly recommend you bring snacks/ food/ drinks. The post-op process takes place in a different area. You leave the waiting area, get your car, drive around the corner, go back inside and a post-op nurse meets with you and goes over prescriptions & care so there's no confusion. My mom was never in any pain and recovery was comfortable. We go back in tomorrow for a follow up appointment. read more

My mom had been having uncomfortable eye pain/twitching for over 2 months before I made her an appointment with Dr. James Norbury. Worried it could be something serious, I thought an Ophthalmologist could give the best diagnosis and run the proper tests. I called one of their office locations (in Allen) to make an appointment and spoke with a lady who did not give her name, but instantly started off with an attitude that came off rude and condescending. Their office was not able to fit my mom in for months down the road; so my mom found Dr. Norbury online on their McKinney location's website. I called and they were able to see her the following week. They started off her appointment running some tests; eye pressure, glaucoma test, etc .. When Dr. Norbury finally came in the room to see my mom, he was not really helpful with giving any type of information. He could not answer questions about some of the test results because "he had not looked over that." (for example - a question on what her glaucoma results were .) and didn't really give much information on why he diagnosed my mom with what he did, or what could be causing it. He asked her to come back 2 weeks later to see if what he prescribed was effective, but because of the bad vibes he gave off, not being able to actually give results, and the office staff I had to talk too to even make her an appointment I will gladly make her an appointment with a Ophthalmologist who can actually help and give answers. I was seen by Dr. Constable. It was a consult due to diabetes, high blood sugar, seeing blobs of floaters and different designs in right eye. The technicians prior to seeing the physician were very attentive and listen closely to what I had to say. Then Dr. Constable and an assistant came in to examine me. Neither offered a greeting. Both were just quiet. The physician said, " I'm Dr Constable." He then proceeded to examine me on the machine. He gave the assistant infomation to record on the laptop. He never asked about my complaints. I asked him if we were going to address the reason I was there. He absolutely did not reply. He finally sat back and said, " The reason you are having problems are because you have cataracts. You have had them for a while." I was applaud because I have eye exams (once a year) frequently due to being a diabetic. It has not been a year since my last exam with the Veteran Admin. and American Best for contacts. Neither one said anything to me regarding cataracts. He informed me that they would be setting me up with the surgeon for surgery. I told him that, that was not going to happen. Due to my condition, I would be obtaining a second opinion. He then said well maybe you need to see the retina Dr. for further exam. in this office. I said no thank you. I grab my stuff and wen't to check out. The reception said, the Dr. want you to see.... I stated, "Never mind, I won't be back." Cataracts or not, this Dr. had no interest in my well being. He was very cold and impersonal. He was only interested in bringing money into their clinic. Do not be afraid to challenge physicians. They are not God and you don't have to take their word as gospel. They are also in bed with the insurance companies. Not all of them, but some. read more

I have had several dealings with this business. They have overcharged me, never returned my calls and never contacted my insurance company on my disputes. It took nearly two years to return the $700 overcharged. Now my free eye exam which they said was free twice with the insurance code given is now $130. Nothing they say before the visit is correct - it all changes after the visit. You have extra money to waste go there. Why don't they deal with your insurance and let them paid the bill but they elect for you to pay the bill. I will not use this business ever again. Wish that once I knew that I needed cataract surgery, I had called Heritage Eye Center first (see my review of Brooks). Right from the first phone call I found them to be professional, courteous, adaptive and constantly striving to treat me in a manner that not only emphasized my care, but also remained efficient. The entire staff is concerned with every patient and they recognize the issues that come with someone wheelchair bound, like myself, and simply deal with them. Not only did they have a special exam room for wheelchair users, but when my disabilities caused issues with my trying to keep my head in the proper location, they brought in somebody to assist me. Every step of the procedure was handled smoothly and painlessly. In addition to removing the cataracts, I elected to get the lenses to correct my distance vision, which is now 20/20! The staff exudes competence and confidence, which eliminates a lot of possible worry and fear. Highly recommend them for your eye care. read more

In Sept. 2020 I went to my Optometrist for a new prescription. She wouldn't give me one. She said that I needed cataract surgery in both eyes. She gave me several choices for referrals. I'm glad that I picked the Heritage Eye Center in McKinney. Dr. Patel was the surgeon. I had both surgeries done in Oct. 2020. I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. The staff was courteous and professional AND pleasant. On the days of the surgeries, there was no unreasonable waiting. Everything was ready to go when I arrived. I recently visited here with my dad for one of his yearly appointments and it has some of the best staff I have seen in a good while at a doctors office. From the kid who does the flashing light test on his eyes, to the technician who prepped him to see the doctor, everyone was kind to him there and greeted him with a smile.
