But lucky me, The Spotted Trotter was out at the Grant Park Farmers Market that I attended recently and I got to check them out irl and support. (I told the gentleman who was at the table why I hadn't been in yet and he did explain that there was an easier way to enter. Ooops.) He was also so patient with me and explained the offerings and how I could use them all. Their menu board was calling my name and although I didn't need to buy anything, we love supporting local, yes? Yes. They had so many delicious options. Sausages, cheeses, all kinds of cured meats - just a carnivore's dream. I can only imagine how amazing the in-store experience is! I had no clue what to grab but ended up going for some calabrian pancetta that is crazyyy delicious. I can't wait to visit the brick and mortar and check out the rest of their options.

I found scotch bonnet pepper powder, which I've been hunting down for a while. They even have it in liquid form too--for my fellow scotch bonnet lovers, iykyk. The meat looked super fresh. During my last visit, I had a very unpleasant interaction with a woman behind the counter who displayed a complete lack of emotional maturity, very nasty demeanor, unprofessional. An item in the package I ordered was unavailable, which was fine, but when I asked if I could choose a different item of equal or lesser value instead of the automatic substitution, her entire demeanor shifted and she became visibly frustrated. She rolled her eyes, placed both hands on her head, took an exaggerated deep breath. I calmly explained that I wasn't trying to frustrate her, I simply wanted to choose an item that suited my household's needs. (Why waste my money, right? ) When I asked if she could check with a supervisor to approve a swap, she grew even more irritated. The level of attitude and unnecessary hostility in that moment was astounding. She then went on a defensive rant about everything she had done to have the item replaced. She went to the back to speak with someone on the phone again and after coming back out, I was able to do the swap. Also she was very rude to the skin older gentleman that was there as well. After completing my purchase, the older gentleman offered to take the items to my car. I initially refused but I allowed it. As I look up from my car, the same woman also came outside. I'm not sure why but I can only imagine it was to look for a reason to antagonize me. Nonetheless, I remained polite throughout the exchange, but speaking with someone behaving like an emotionally unregulated child is not an experience I expect as a paying customer. I'm still unsure if I'll return, but if I do, I sincerely hope not to encounter that same employee or that kind of poor behavior again. Maybe a mental institution is best suited for her instead of being behind someone's counter. I only gave 3 stars because it was my first negative experience, but that was enough for me.

They're the nicest people when you walk in. They have a wonderful selection of wines and boutique foods up front. But what really got me was their selection of pre-made store made food ready to buy. I bought the chicken lasagna just enough for me and maybe some leftovers for tomorrow. I hated it up for half an hour in my oven and it was good to go. They have a vast selections of large small portion pre-made food. I'm so excited this is going to be my new place to grab something to eat and instead of a restaurant.
